Great hotel in a lovely location. Good check in experience and given room very close together after emailing the hotel although they weren’t adjacent as requested. The rooms are lovely nice and clean and ample room if a little dated but in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The food was of good quality and the dining room like the rest of the hotel very clean. One of the speciality restaurants did take a little extra effort to book but food was great. The pool areas were good and clean with plenty of sunbeds available although you do have to be up early to get a great choice of sunbeds around the pool. There are two pool areas and I would say the one by the hotel exit to be quiet and the other one lively with music and entertainment throughout the day. Evening entertainment was either great or ok but did have a live band every night. the biggest downfall in the hotel is lack of toilets, with one set to the right of check in desks and one set by the lively pool. Cleaners work tirelessly all day and evening keeping the place clean and tidy. We were there for Valentines Day and I must say it was disappointing from loud and brash small group of Americans who made their presence felt throughout our holiday, to a lack of appropriate gifts, food and entertainment. The bar service by the pools was good as was the bar service around the bar area. Overall, a good place to stay.

I hope hotel staff will be more polite with guests as many bookings are indirect and they should respect and honor the commitments as described in bookings.

Hotel was just ok, booked it thinking it being a palace it would be of higher standard, this was not the case.
Food was good but no wow factor anywhere. Room was nice but bedding was lacking,I am an early riser and early to bed which doesn't work at this resort as entertainment starts late and goes on late...pool staff did do an excellent job with drink service, beach is small but sand is soft and clean. Very little space at resort for tropical landscaping and gardens. Over all not dissatisfied totally with trip but will probably try another Riu Palace in future with a more quiet relaxing vibe.

Stayed at this resort with family members. outstanding stay. the thing that rises above all is the service and food. the most helpful people from front desk, to waiters and waitresses and bar staff. Everyone offering to help. The food was outstanding and everything tasted great. Huge selection but I did eat in the black and white steak house 5 of the 7 days. Surf and turf outstanding. I am a 69 year old male with bad knees so this review is for others like me.
Positive - Service and food. When getting food with my walking stick every time they offered to take my plate to the table. Main pool has a ledge across so I did not have to stand in the pool for any length. Railings around every entrance so easy to get in and out. Ocean beach very calm I had no trouble getting in an out. Walk in shower made it easy. Place laid out great everything close so not a lot of walking.
Negatives - not much, just minor stuff. One of the elevators in our wing not working so several times we could not get on a crowded elevator and had to wait for the next one. Hotel is showing its age, room chipped tile, minor stuff like that. Unfortunately in our room bed and pillow uncomfortable and they actually put the mattress on a frame much smaller so when I sat on the side of the bed since it was hanging out 4 or 5 inches I had to be careful not to fall off when mattress bended. Only one outlet by bed so bring an extension cord. No USB ports. Only 2 bathrooms that I found in the resort. One in the lobby by gift shop and the other in the basement under the buffet restaurant. There is a ramp going from main floor to basement but you need to take the stairs from restaurant level to first level (then stairs to basement or take ramp) just for people with bad mobility.
Otherwise a beautiful, clean, wonderful resort that I would highly recommend. Service outstanding and food is great. I plan to visit again.

Everything at the resort was really good (well, Abba show not so much), Staff is wonderful and very attentive. Gave the location 4 stars as it is a ways from most things, beach is compact but very nice and well maintained. Workout room is very good. Wish there was a change machine as I only had $US 20's, awkard asking bartenders to make change, wanted to tip the great staff more. Overall I'd definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay in this older, but impeccably clean resort. When we checked in, the “fabulous” Mitzy, noticed that one in our party was having a birthday, two days in to our stay (was very observant in looking at the passport to pick that up!). Not only did she notice at check in, two days later, after checking in/out hundreds of other guests since our arrival, Mitzy singled out our Birthday Boy as we passed the front desk on our way to breakfast: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” smiling and waving. Amazing attention to detail!
The rooms were clean (could use updates; more electrical outlets by the bed was my main beef). Showers were steamy and lots of water pressure. Bartenders were very experienced and the beach service was excellent. Wait staff at the buffet seemed to put more emphasis on seating you in “their” area, than they did actually taking care of you once you were there. Food was plentiful and very good.
The Director was impressive; all over the resort, checking in with maids cleaning rooms one morning, at the buffet, down at the beach, visiting with guests the next day…always taking things very seriously. You could tell her employees respected her as much as she did them.
Overall good experience. Many guests we spoke with, were return customers.

Excellent hotel. We've been there before. Don't take rooms on the first floor. There's no view.

I found the hotel to be dated. The food was really good the waiters in the restaurant were really nice. The view was amazing.
However I forgot my glasses in the hotel. Sent an email and I eventually got a reply saying that they did not find my watch. I did not say I lost a watch. I still haven’t heard back since. Very disappointing.

Escape the cold of Toronto for Christmas in Cancun. The hotel had six restaurants, and since it was all-inclusive, there were no extra charges (except for drinks at the steakhouse). The beach at the hotel was beautiful, and they even hosted events in the evenings. Overall, it was a great experience. However, the only downside was that while the hotel promised room service, we waited a long time for our food to arrive…

As a resort hotel, the location is excellent and the service is first-class.
The facilities are old. There is always a musty smell in the room when the air conditioner is on. It disappears when the balcony door is opened for air circulation. In short, it is still good and the CP value is relatively high.

I never thought it would happen... in my 18 years of traveling to Cancun, authentic Chinese food has always been illusive. My prayers have been answered with Golden Sea. Not only is it Cancun's best, but it honestly contends with some of the best Chinese eateries in New York, San Fran, and Vancouver. The food is excellent with a great variety of interesting dishes, many of which include local seafood. They also have a number of American-Chinese dishes (i.e. beef and broccoli) on the menu that are flavorful and perfectly executed. There is a reason that this place is a hotspot for locals, westerners, and Chinese tourists alike: Golden Sea is a treasure. Finally, the service was also excellent. We loved our waiter and the captain, Alex, is a seasoned professional.

I thought I’d never find amazing and authentic Chinese food in Mexico, but boy was I wrong! I highly recommend the hot and sour soup, the spicy tofu (ma po tofu) and the steamed whole fish, but everything else (including Cantonese duck pictured) was delicious. We have never eaten so much in one meal on our Cancun trip thus far!

Great restaurant, best in Cancun in fact! Ambience, quality of food, freshness of ingredients, authenticity of flovors, I can not fault any of it! I worked in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, and I know what authentic Cantonese food when I taste one, trust me! This is the best in Mexico without a doubt and to include U.S to an extend. We ordered steamed fish Cantonese style, it was fantastic! It was everything you want for a freshly prepared seafood dish. They used the freshest catch of the day, it took a while but that would be what you expected. The owner is very friendly and down to earth, really keen on get your feedback. Again, I love the restaurant. I will definitely visit it again in the future!

Definitely the best Chinese food option in Cancun! The vegetables were fresh and crispy and the dim sum breads were nice and squishy, so yum! We had the fried chicken in chiles and it was very nice! Our friend had the fish and the presentation was lovely. Would recommend and go back
