Fantastic atmosphere and dining, though rooms need a little TLC
We had a lovely stay at this resort. Our first impression was very positive, and the reception team made us feel welcome right away. We opted for a paid upgrade to an ocean-facing room, which offered a beautiful view, though the room itself was just average. We did notice a slight odor in the bathroom, and the provided toiletries were a bit disappointing in both quality and quantity.
However, the rest of the experience more than made up for it:
• Dining: The food was truly excellent. We explored all four restaurants—Japanese, Italian, the Grill, and the Buffet— and each was impressive.
• Service: The staff throughout the resort provided top-tier service.
• Amenities: The pool area is a highlight, featuring great activities and seamless food/drink service.
• Beach & Entertainment: The beach was pristine and very enjoyable. We also loved the evening games and entertainment that kept the energy high into the night.
Overall: A great destination for foodies and beach lovers. I’d definitely return!

We had real good dinning experience at Los Velas.The Chef Miguel gave personal touch to our food and made cuisine which we love. He didn't even know our preference but he amused us. Also serving by Justo was really good. I really recommend these guys.

If you’re looking for that "1990s Spring Break" nostalgia mixed with a view that looks like a literal postcard, Hotel Cristal is your time machine. It’s not the sleek, ultra-modern glass tower your influencer cousin stays in, but it has a certain retro charm that I actually dug.

The Vibe
Let’s be real: the decor hasn't changed much since Titanic was in theaters. It’s definitely dated—think old-school tiles and furniture that’s seen a few decades of sunscreen. However, I have to give it to the staff: the place is spotless. You could probably eat your chilaquiles off the lobby floor (though I’d recommend a plate). It’s clean, functional, and unpretentious.

Location, Location, Location
This is why you book it. You are right in the heart of the action.
* The Beach: Pristine white sand is literally steps away.
* The Nightlife: You’re close enough to the clubs to walk, but just far enough away that you don't hear every bass drop of "Mr. Brightside" at 3:00 AM.
The "Cancun Tax"
Fair warning: the city is getting expensive. Even at a more "budget-friendly" spot like the Cristal, you’ll find that a casual taco dinner nearby costs what a steak dinner used to. The hotel itself is a solid value for the area, but keep an eye on your pesos—Cancun has officially decided it’s the new St. Tropez.

The Verdict: If you plan on actually leaving your room to see the ocean and the city, this is a winner. If you need a rainforest showerhead and a smart mirror to be happy, keep scrolling.

Final Score: 7/10 for the views, 10/10 for the cleaning crew, 4/10 for the 30-year-old curtains. 🌊

We have been vacationing at this resort for the past 32 years. We have seen the upgrades throughout the years, as well as the consistent views of the most beautiful beach in Cancun. One thing that has remained constant and consistent is the people. They make our stay comfortable and like home. As our life has evolved into snowbird stage, we find ourselves at the Krystal for 10 days at a time for 3-4 months over the winter. The people make our stays more than welcome and comfortable. Our welcome back to the resort with Chief Concierge Rafael and concierge Abigail and bellman Julio, they always have a smile on their faces and immediately willing to help with anything we need. They truly set the tone as soon as we arrive! Roberto at the Lobby and pool bars remembers exactly what we like to drink and is kind and efficient. Balam who is sadly retiring has been at the resort for as long as we’ve been vacationing and as the restaurants manager is always welcoming and kind. He will be missed but we had the honor of wishing him well before his retirement. Cesi, Fernando and Justo at Las Velas are beyond kind, welcoming and efficient! They know exactly what we like and accommodate any of our wants every day! The absolute best! Vanous and Isael at Aquamarina are so kind and friendly. Rodrigo in reservations is always more than accommodating for our family and our needs! Many of these people that I’ve named have watched our children grow and now bring our grandchildren to the same resort. That is very special for us! We’ve had an engagement at the resort which was accommodated efficiently and turned out beautifully! Which then leads us into a 2027 wedding ceremony and reception at the Krystal.

This resort started as a family run boutique hotel and has since become a larger resort but has always remained a special place for us because of the people. They are the ones that really make the difference!! We LOVE the Krystal and the kindness of their people!!

Beautiful location! Right near nightlife/clubs and restaurants which you can easily walk too. All within minutes of the hotel. Rooms are outdated and I booked the club king balcony ocean view suite. But the balcony view was top tier. Service was amazing, staff is caring and the event staff are the best. The daily events are fun for all ages and they keep you well entertained. Being right in front of the beach was the best and servers were quick to grab your drinks and take orders. Breakfast buffet is about 7/10 in my opinion. Best restaurant was Velas fir their sushi rolls and Mediterranean restaurant steak and shrimps were very flavorful. Overall great experience and a big resort but fun and relaxing. Also you can book excursions for Aqua world and they offered great packages.

The off-season is truly amazing – fewer people and a great price. The Caribbean really lives up to its reputation. As for restaurants, the buffet is actually the best. Definitely avoid the Japanese restaurant (unless you manage to get a teppanyaki booking), and the Italian one is just okay; the desserts have a strange artificial flavor. But just chilling out is still pretty good.

I didn't like the stay from the very beginning: an hour's delay in checking in, rude behavior of the reception staff, unwillingness to help or spend the delay in comfort.

The keys to the room (one of two per room) did not work for 24 hours; the staff were unable to solve the problem and constantly re-registered the entry to the room from one key to the other. Both keys did not work at the same time.

I liked the food, but not varied, for a few days of stay I consider it good, but if you stay for a week or more - I do not recommend it.

The drinks in the central bar are good.

Thanks to the employee Gustav for helping with the check-in, I can't say the same about others.

The shower was broken - water flowed in a powerful stream from the mixer (room 202)

The hotel is not worth the money, if there is an alternative - it is better to take another one.
