Club Es Talaial Hotel in Cala d'Or

We arrived and were given a different room to the one we booked via the website. Trip were really good at rectifying the issue however it meant we had to spend a night as a couple of dingy foam mattress single beds at different heights in a room full of black mould that had been painted over. The hotel did eventually move us to the room we had booked but not without Trips assistance meaning we both picked up horrendous coughs from the first nights stay. we noticed other people coughing horrendously throughout the stay & witnessed multiple people asking to move rooms. The rooms that have been renovated are fine, but it is simple a con - a complete waste of money and nobody should be accommodated in the unrenovated rooms as they are dangerous and not fit for people to stay in. On top of that the unlimited alcohol was incredibly weak/watered down.

Where to start. So I came with my partner and our 2 kids and mates and their families were joining us the next day. We booked a "superior room" and our friends booked a basic room. Upon checking in, the staff were lovely and friendly. We walked into our room and at first glance it wasnt too bad, but we were provided 2 single beds and a sofa bed. And all in the same room, not 2 bedrooms as we thought we would get being the superior room. We of course gave the kids the single beds and we took the sofa bed. On the first night the sofa bed broke, we looked and yes, it was rusted with bolts missing. My partner went to reception to report, and they sent 2 men up, but they couldn't fix it and said they could put us in another room but it's a room for only 2 people...which of course wasnt suitable for a family of 4. So we had to make do and my partner and I slept on the floor. The man also said we would get a refund for that night and they would replace the sofa bed. The following day when we came back from a day out, the bed wasnt replaced, instead 2 bits of wood placed underneath, which caused it to uneven and gave us back problems for the duration of the holiday. My youngest also had an accident through the night so I stripped the bed and asked reception if we could get a set of clean bed sheets. When I stripped all the bedding, I found blood stains on the mattress! Then to make matters worse, when our friends arrived to their "basic room"..they were given a 2 bedroom room with 3 single beds and a king-size bed! Turns out we paid extra for the superior room to be provided with a kettle and smart tv! id happily give them up for the basic bedroom if I knew it was much better! I complained to love holidays about all of this as we booked through them. They initially tried to fob us off, even after I gave them photographic evidence, which i will attach to this review. But after a lot of back and forth they have gave us a full refund for that 1st night at least. I have rated 2 stars purely because most of the staff were lovely and helpful, but the room was definitely not up to the standard we expected, especially after seeing a "basic" room was much better than our "superior" room.

We got put in a disabled apartment with shower half way down the wall, it was like being in a basement, no windows and smelt fusty to the point we felt sick, couldnt or wouldnt sleep in the bed, glad only stayed the wkend and was out most of the time. Still trying to get the smell from my clothes. Could smell drains as soon as we walked into recetion, would not recommend !!!
