Bahía Aparthotel in Peguera

We have just spent a week at this hotel and we were so disappointed. Our room was dreadful, we had two single beds which were like camp beds, the room was tiny, getting around the bed just to get outside was a struggle, the bathroom was so dated with mould around the grout and bath, sink and toilet just needed a good scrub, it smelt and the shower screen hadn't been cleaned at all, the extremely old wardrobe door had a hole through the front of it and they were filthy inside and out, the air conditioning was old and antiquated intermittently worked. The patio if you can call it that was filthy, dark, no sun, broken bamboo screen from next door, uncomfortable bistro set, so unable to use it, the rest of the hotel needed a good clean, it was dusty and unkept. The breakfast was a good selection however hot food was always cold, the cold selection was varied and pleasant. The staff in the restaurant were pleasant as was the bar man. The reception staff however were unbelievably rude apart from one. There was a very rude man who wore glasses and a lady who claimed to be in charge of the hotel she was so rude that I did tell her and she said people say that to her but it is what it is!!
We were told by two other guests that if you book direct you get good treatment and nice rooms but if you go with a travel agent and have a rep you're treated so differently and you are given awful rooms because they are getting a little less money. Also the 'spa' as they call it was closed and out of order so we only saw the indoor pool through the window which we weren't informed about. I would urge people to consider carefully when thinking of holidaying here as it's definitely more of a 2 star hotel where guests were not treated the same

My stay at this hotel in the first week of September was so disturbing that even now, months later, I still feel anger and frustration whenever I think about it. I avoided writing a review until now because the experience was genuinely traumatizing, but I want to share the truth so others can protect themselves.

I paid nearly $200 per night, and the room I was given felt like a windowless dungeon — dark, tiny, outdated furniture, mosquitoes, and later a loud, constant water leaking sound that continued the entire night, making it impossible to sleep. The room had no window at all — only a door, and the only way to get ventilation was to leave the door open to a public walkway, which felt unsafe and inappropriate. I was awake all night long and left as soon as there was daylight outside. This was absolutely not the 4-star quality advertised.

The worst part of my stay was the behavior of the front desk staff. The person checking me in was extremely rude, dismissive, and treated me in a way that felt discriminatory and deeply disrespectful. When I asked to speak with a manager, he refused and even walked away while I was still talking. I have traveled widely, and I have never experienced such hostile customer service.

I contacted Booking.com immediately after checking in and spent more than five hours on the phone with multiple agents, yet no solution was provided. I ultimately had to cancel the reservation myself because the situation became unbearable.

This experience completely ruined the first night of my vacation and has left a lasting emotional impact. I sincerely hope no traveler — especially solo travelers — has to go through what I did.

Please avoid this hotel at all costs.

This hotel was one of the worst hotels I ever stayed at with rude staff and terrible service. This place is not a 4-star hotel. The photos on the website and what is advertised on travel sites is not the reality of the property. The building is dilapidated, not secure and the rooms were filthy with hair and soap from previous guests and bugs running across a crumb filled bathroom. I was shocked at the staff's reactions regarding feedback, clarifications of booking and general services. There is a major disconnect between what is booked on site with "membership" free towels and a free welcome drink. There are no views from the building to the beach, even when you upgrade to the "best" room on the property. Do not be misled! The beach across the hotel is great with beach chairs and cute bars and restaurants. There you will find friendly places with excellent mojitos and service.
