We had an amazing stay in Joes resort, the inhouse beach is too good & food was amazing. Thanks Joes resort for making our stay great.
We were concerned after reading unfavourable reviews, but have been pleasantly surprised. Room is a little smaller than most but has everything you need. Nice balcony overlooking the private beach, rooftop pool, nice setting for relaxing. Bathroom is well laid out, only criticism is that shower does not have a door so water can run right across the floor making it a fall risk. Bed was confortable...
This place is amazing! The food is delicious with generous portions, leaving you fully satisfied. The customer service is warm and friendly, making the experience even better. The location is stunning, with a calm and beautiful beach—perfect for relaxing and having fun. A great spot to enjoy good food and unwind!
The streetnoise is a real bother in this hotel as the door of the room is not air tight.During our stay the airconditioning startend to leak in our suitcase; the breakfast is excellent as is the food in general, but mind you: service is extremely slow ( of even forgetfull) If you do decade to stay there take a room on the first Floor so that you have a private bakcony
It is a very good place with amazing views and beach access. There is a private beach with sea facing rooms. The restaurant is also by the sea. Food is limited but good. The chef is accommodative. Very friendly staff. There is a supermarket right opposite. You can walk along the beach to other restaurants where you can try their food. Else, there are good places within 10 mins walk. It's a lovely...
Small but a good Hotel , very well maintained and the food was GOOD !!! . Staff was very friendly and helpful too. Rooms were small but well kept , the bathrooms were clean and well kept too. Pool is on the rooftop and has a great view. the Beach is a long stretch and plenty of restaurants along the beach.

The son and the owner are amazing. He helped organize a surprise birthday party for me and arranged a cake, flowers, and balloons. THESE PEOPLE ARE INCREDIBLY FRIENDLY. The atmosphere feels just like home. First-class view, high standard, and delicious food. We will definitely come back.
We only stayed for one night in Arazo Villa but wished for more! It is a wonderful and quiet place to stay. Manori was so welcoming and lovely (she’s the host of this nice place). If you read this you definitely should stay here :) Everything you need is here.
I’m leaving this place with such a heavy heart. What was supposed to be just four nights turned into ten, and I left in tears. This place is pure magic, a place you soon call home because you truly feel part of it. The garden and the terrace are one of a kind spaces where you find a peace of mind that only very few places in the world can give.
But what makes it all so special is the beautiful family...
The owners are so lovely and welcoming! Rooms are big with aircon and an amazing view on the ocean. The breakfast is soo delicious and only homemade food and self grown fruits.
Would definitely come back!!
The family who owns the villa are so warm and welcoming. Me and my friend stayed for a few nights and instantly felt right at home. Our room was so comfortable, and had a little balcony with a view of the ocean. We very much enjoyed our stay here!
I stayed here two nights. The woman who runs the place is lovely and it is good value.
However, her dogs are vicious. Every time we came back from the beach we were terrified that she wouldn’t be there to calm them down.
Furthermore, as you’ll see from other reviews, the property is on an extremely steep hill. So steep that TukTuks won’t even go all the way up. If you have mobility issues or are...

The hotel was booked out but the owner was able to find us a room with our own private bathroom. The bathroom was outdoors just around the corner from our bedroom. The AC unit was broken upon arrival, although it took awhile to fix, the owner took prompt action and was very kind to us. The experience started poor but better throughout our stay.
We were originally planning a couple's trip, so we chose this option.
It turned out to be the perfect choice! Decent grounds and responsive staff. The manager is always on top of things, taking care of guests. Individual attention is given to each guest's needs 24/7. The shared kitchen and family atmosphere are a delight! There's a spa and massage salon on site, and a bar with everything you need is...
The hotel is nice from the outside, in the rooms there are ants running on the beds! The location is good - to the main road - 300-500 meters, to the sea 500 meters

A good villa if you're planning to stay near a small, clean beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the only drawback is the air conditioning, which blows directly on the beds.
The location has a perfect view of the city, and is in close proximity to Jungle Beach which has a great atmosphere and is a lovely cove with shallow waves to safely enjoy with your family. The atmosphere of the place itself is quiet and undisturbed. As it is far from the city, the air feels clean and rejuvenating. You are surrounded by visually appealing greenery with comfortable outdoor furniture...
The closest to you'll get to the wonderful Jungle Beach. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful, with TukTuks, doing our washing and getting the pool ready for our use. The garden is fantastic, as are the views out over the bay. Jungle Baech is a five minute walk away.
Pros:
Beautiful view
Friendly owners of the accommodation
Wi-Fi and air conditioning in the room
Cons:
Far to Unawatuna beach, either 20 minutes walk through the jungle over rocks or a detour by tuk-tuk
Tuk-tuks are reluctant to go up the mountain where the accommodation is located
No safe in the room
No amenities for washing
Very weak water pressure
The Villa Baywatch is a very small hotel set in the most spectacular gardens. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and an ensuite with shower. They are equipped with tea & coffee making facilities and a fridge. The area is very quiet, a short walk to Jungle Beach and a tuktuk ride to Unawatatuna. There is also a small but essential swimming pool. The staff are lovely and the breakfast is excellent...

The facilities were rather old and didn't feel very clean. It's conveniently located right on the beach, but the weather was bad, so we couldn't experience it. Also, they used old-fashioned three-pronged posts.
Perfect place to stay and surf, the hotel is in front of the waves so you can check anytime 🌊
The owner is really kind, i felt comfortable staying there. I’d repeat without hesitation 🌞
You can not find a closer apartment to the beach than this one. Literally over the water, the view is amazing. My second time here and I’ll be back. Thanks to the staff who are also amazing. Great value for money.
This is one of the best place I stayed. All the people were very nice and I had a great view of the beach. It’s near to a surfing lessons too. I will definitely go back here. Thank you Samith and Nil for accommodating me.
Great restaurant with superb ocean view! The seafood platter was amazing! The only downside was the toilet not been cleaned well and having to park in a private land opposite the main road which made access to the vehicle a bit of a hassle. The AC wasn’t in the best condition either. But overall great value for money and fantastic location
Hotel was so nice. Rooms are also as per the pictures. The only issue is with the bathroom, which is stinking slightly after closing it for 10 minutes.

The beach is beautiful, the place is big and comfy, really nice!
Food is average. Service is good, waiters are nice.
They hold parties on fridays!
Spent a day at the restaurant and beach. Excellent location. Good service. Try the seafood! Very reasonable prices as well.
Great place to have a meal, drink and enjoy beach. Food was nice and the view of the place is really good. It has comfortable seating and great surrounding. One of the down side is that food orders take up to 30 to 45 minutes, understandably that could have been due to many tourists in the restaurant. So if you go to the restaurant with a expectation of receiving food by that time then you have no...
A WONDERFUL BEACH AND WARM WATER. BREAKFAST ON THE BEACH WAS GREAT.
COMFORTABLE ROOM.
LOTS OF SHOPS AND ACTIVITY OUTSIDE OF THE GATES OF THE HOTEL.. THERE IS A COMPANION HOTEL NEARBY THAT IS 5 STAR. ASK THE DESK OR E MAIL.

Place was too crowded and the service took time. It was my first visit and don't think will go again. Good was good though.!
Delicious fresh fish in the evening, but all many times more expensive. Put the tables with candles on the beach, but hang over my soul, (Almost always strong wave. Unfortunately, the very loud music from neighbouring hotels stopping to rest.

The King's Landing was in a perfect location for us. Tucked away just off the busy main street but within an easy walking distance to a couple of beaches. Preferring a quieter life, we spent a lot of time on Jungle Beach. There is a vast selection of eateries nearby as well as shops. As soon as we booked, communication from the hotel was excellent. We asked for transfers to be arranged from the airport...
We stayed in two separate rooms, the big room on the 3rd floor was gorgeous, felt like being up in the jungle. Gorgeous views all round. The pool room was also lovely but as it's ground floor not so much of a view! Rooms were spotless, brilliant towel art, housekeeping every day, spotless sheets and towels, loads of free bottled water. Staff were friendly but not intrusive and really helpful. ...
Cosy small hotel 5 min from the beach, restaurants close by but very quiet in a lush environment. Big bedroom/bathroom/balcony. The staff was very helpful and made our stay special. Excellent breakfast. Can highly recommend it.
A very last minute booking (booked the night before our stay). Fantastic small hotel with just 8 rooms. Slightly more expensive but amazing value as the rooms are gorgeous, bathrooms are to die for (biggest rain shower I’ve ever seen) and the staff were all super friendly and very attentive. Spotlessly clean, free water, towels and beach towels provided, plus we always got a fresh cold juice bought...
We loved staying here! One of the friendliest staff I’ve ever experienced, amazing breakfast and the rooms are way nicer than they look at the photos. The bathrooms are incredible - the shower is enourmous! It is also newly renovated, so it’s nice and modern

An excellent hotel in the center of the fort, the owner himself prepares breakfast, if you want to immerse yourself in the old days, this is the place for you.
This hotel has one of the best and closest location to the rampart and lighthouse. The property is oozing woth colonial charm, with lots of wooden furniture and white linen. The location of the room is perfect, 100/100, and the room is fully equipped with amenities, plus the bed is super comfortable. It's a very unique little building, very close to the coast, with a great atmosphere. However, the sound insulation of the house is too poor, and the air conditioner outdoor unit downstairs made noise all night long.

We only stayed at Southern Comforts for one night but had the most wonderful time. It’s perfectly located inside the Fort and our room was so cosy! The absolute highlight, however, was the family who run the hotel - they were the kindest and most welcoming people we met on our whole trip. We can’t wait to return one day ❤️
Hosts were extremely kind — trusted us to go to atm after checking out and called station to confirm our bus’ departure time without ask
Fab little room in the heart of Galle fort. The owners were so lovely and gave us a ride to the train station and made sure we had all the information for our onward travel. The room was very good value with AC, fan and a hot shower!
A very cost-convenient place for families hoping to stay in Galle Fort. Me and my family stayed here for 2 days. The room was comfortable and the view from the courtyard was breathtakingly beautiful. Have to appreciate the hospitable owners of this comfy place - thank you very much!
Prepaid for a "triple" room that turned out to be a tiny, cramped attic with one full-sized bed and a small twin-sized bed. Ceiling height varied from 2meters at the door to 1.2meters over the small bed. Air conditioning, refrigerator, water heater, toilet, shower, WiFi, and fan all worked fine. Water pressure was adequate. Hosts were friendly. Location was excellent.
Great location on Lighthouse Street Run by an amazingly friendly and helpful family. We stayed in room 101. Helped organise a wonderful driver for a trip we had planned. We stayed from November 16th to November 25th. A wonderful hotel, clean, comfortable, and spacious room with a balcony, friendly and welcoming staff, delicious breakfasts, amazing dinners, and a very convenient location. A special thank you to the VillaWatuna administrator, Nuwan, for her help and responsiveness—you're the best!) We'll definitely return to this hotel again. Irina and Roman.
We stayed here two years ago, so maybe things have changed, but the breakfasts were frankly bad, the rooms were sparse. This isn't a mini-hotel, but a typical guesthouse run by Russians trying to squeeze as much money as possible. After three days, we fled to another hotel. We hope things have improved now.
I stayed here for two weeks, in a Deluxe Room with a balcony, room 21. I loved everything: the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, they cleaned it every day, the staff was very polite, and the breakfasts were delicious. Thanks again to the staff for a wonderful stay at this hotel.
Lovely place, up a small hill, surrounded by greenery. The Superior and Deluxe rooms are excellent value, the staff is friendly and helpful. They change mattresses every year--the beds are super comfy, the bathrooms are nice. They could use fluffier pillows--but that's a small thing.Overall excellent value!

We came for the restaurant, looks luxury and beautiful. Choose to sit inside, outside was still a bit hot. Service was excellent, food fresh and tasty. A little bit overpriced. But not too much. Perfect for the dinner or romantic date. But even for the kids is good, pizza was good. I was impressed with the butter, how it was served and smallest bread that I ever saw.
On recommendation from Inoka at Cape Welligama, we went here for lunch. Beautiful place. Apparently rooms are lovely according to a lady I chatted to from the UK staying there. I thoroughly enjoyed my superfood bowl & Bazaar Special cocktail! Great!
We went to the restaurant for breakfast not to stay. So I can’t comment about the rooms. Absolutely loved the interior though. We tried the cafe mocha, pineapple juice, papaya juice, css full breakfast and eggs Benedict. The food was ridiculously expensive and not worth the price. May be because the place is inside the Galle Fort. I was excited for the cafe mocha and I was let down. It was cold when...
This was our fifth stop on our honeymoon, and we chose to stay in Galle Fort a little longer than our other locations. In hindsight I’m still not entirely sure that was the right call for us. Great hotel. Had a great time. Nice pool. Great view from the mountain. Ocean view from the window.
We stayed at this hotel for one night.
We were greeted with a welcome drink and checked into our room fairly quickly.
The room was large enough, but not clean enough. The bathroom was very disappointing because it was dirty.

The room was too hot, and the air conditioner seemed to be malfunctioning, cooling down very slowly. Staying there in this nearly 40°C weather was unbearable. I'm not sure if the price of over 900 yuan is cheap or expensive.
The room was spacious and the building was a colonial style typical of Galle, making it a wonderful experience.
The hotel is located inside a castle, making it convenient to go anywhere, and its best feature is its proximity to the sunset spot. It has a Dutch style, is clean and tidy, offers excellent service, and provides a set breakfast that is quite tasty.
Beautiful boutique hotel with blue and white theme in its accessories which was what captivated my interest into booking one.
The room was huge but only a small tv.

The breakfast was great, with a variety of set menus to choose from. The hotel was beautiful.
The first-floor rooms had absolutely no soundproofing; every sound was clearly audible. Movement noises from the second floor were amplified tenfold due to the wooden partitions, making it impossible to sleep all night.

Highly recommend! The staff is very careful with the guest and we received a free upgrade room as well! 🥳 We stayed for two nights and can enjoy also the pool and the private beach. The bedroom was very clean and pretty big. We had a very relaxing staying here
Such a beautiful hotel, with beautiful rooms, directly located on the beach - you can have beautiful walks around and enjoy the ocean 🐠 all outside areas are also very nice so you can enjoy your day on the pool as well. Everyone is so kind - a big recommendation for this special place ♥️

Had a wonderful stay at The Merchant Galle Fort. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the service was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious. The room was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. Everything felt easy and welcoming from start to finish. Truly a great experience, Thank you to Chamika and the team—would definitely visit again and highly recommend!
Went to have dinner with my family. Beautiful outdoor area with indoor A/C facility. It was a pretty hot night so decided to stay indoor. Food was curved without any delay. Grilled prawn ,olive oil and garlic dipper was the best dish I had. Food was so good and the potion was pretty big. Service was amazing. Food is a bit expensive than the other restaurant but it’s a worth of trying
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Galle. The decoration is absolutely stunning — every detail is thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, with a lovely vibe that makes you relax. The menu and food are very well curated, adding even more to the overall experience.
The staff really make the difference: professional, attentive, and extremely polite...
The Merchant is located in a beautiful spot inside Galle Fort, and the location is definitely its strongest point. The surroundings are charming and well placed, making it a nice place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere of the fort.
However, the service was below expectations during our visit. There was a noticeable lack of attentiveness, and the overall experience could have been much better with more...
We went to Merchant for a dinner out. Had their curry pasta, chicken burger and blue ocean virgin mojito which was soo yum. Portion sizes were so big although prices are bit on the higher side.Great vibe with the nicest staff. 😁
A gorgeous elegant spot to grab breakfast or dinner.
Set in a beautiful lush courtyard, amazing live singer the first night I went down.
Great coffee and breakfast options , service was impeccable, WiFi super fast which was a god send for working.
A little oasis the perfect place to get some r&r after sight seeing.
Highly recommend

Quiet, Cozy Stay; Safe Choice for Families with Kids
Stayed two nights with my family (w/ 2 young kids) and my friend's family (w/ 1 young kid).
We all enjoyed our stay very well. Staff was friendly and helpful. The villa is perfect for a family holiday to stay in the fort. Nice atmosphere with spacious rooms and common areas. Many private properties in the fort are not big enough and may not be...
Service was awesome... the place and the rooms were great.. and the food (Sri Lankan breakfast) was perfect!
