Location: in the town of Unawatuna, 110 km from Colombo 165 km from the airport. Transfer from the airport for about 4 hours.

Total area: 3 hectares.

Consists of four-storey main building, one three-storey and one-storey buildings around the pool.

The hotel has 87 rooms.

Beach: public sandy beach in 50 m from the hotel. The pool deck chairs, mattresses: free of charge. Pool towels: free of charge.

There’s a good reason why there have been no reviews of this property since October 2020: it’s closed down! As a regular guest in the days before UBR was sold and ruined, I feel outraged thinking about what happened to this wonderful property. I went to take a look today and the gate is barred with a notice saying “closed until further notice”… and the paintwork is peeling off the walls. If you go back 15 years when UBR was in its heyday you’d have found a well-run property with fantastic staff and world-class views over beautiful Unawatuna bay. After it was sold a bit of maintenance is all that was needed but the new owners decided to change everything, even turning the pools from blue to rust-orange (and trebling the room rates of course). I wasn’t surprised to hear that the new UBR had shut its doors but I remain sad and annoyed thinking of all the times over the years that I would have continued to stay here if not for all the misconceived and arrogant changes made by the new management. UBR remains a stark example of why people with MBAs are not nearly as clever as they think they are.

Beautiful place. It’s beautiful scenery will mersmerize you .The beach, water and sky will always attract you. There are many hotels & restaurants around this place.I visited this place in 2012 and spent most of the mornings in the beach and later on in the pools. The people of this area are very friendly and helpful to the tourists. I went there from Bangladesh and I will never forget my SriLankan friends.

Very good location in Unawatuna. Room is clean and nice view. It was good jacuzzi in washroom. Also restaurant was good. And you can play water sports near to beach ;)

The room is comfortably. Right on the beach. Pool was also good. The dinner was not bad but was not great. There are other places which offer much better food. The breakfast is much better. The service was overall good.

Very bad, not the light be removed only for money. Everywhere dirt. Only sea rescues.

Great, but stupid beach. Sunbeds are few and they are prehistoric. Restaurants miserable. Sand large coral. But feet don't hurt. The ocean is calm, waves are soft (not for surfing, swimming normal). A lot of garbage. Fun at times. Well, we have not stopped here. A boring place. Is not implemented, the potential of the beach.

Good buffet dinner with Indian, Sri Lankan corner with a variety of local curries as well as pastas and pizzas. Delicious seafood and fish! Highly recommended
