Vista La Veranda Di Serena in Unawatuna

The location of the hotel means you have spectacular views of the sea (we were lucky enough to be able to see the turtles from our balcony) You sleep in a clean & comfortable room listening to the sounds of the crashing waves. The bathroom was a little dated & smelt quite musty. Breakfast was great - fresh fruit & omelettes The only thing that slightly took the sheen off our stay was the rush at the end to get us out of the room as other guests were arriving. We hadn’t overstayed & actually left early as they were quite obviously waiting around to clean our room. A minor thing but a shame. Mostly a lovely stay.

This place is fabulous. We will return and are sad to leave. We had the top floor apartment...its huge! We were lulled to sleep ever night by the waves. This is right on a little beach, We had it to ourselves. the turtles are great to watch from the windows or balconies. The staff and owner couldn't be nicer. We hired a scooter from them and used their tuc tuc in the evening. There are some shops and restaurants nearby, main street in town just short ride away. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious....we had 2 showers! breakfast was very good and we loved eating outdoors with that view! Thankyou! Full marks x

We were completely satisfied with everything. The breakfast was excellent and could be adjusted based on our requests and preferences. The owner and staff were incredibly helpful. It’s conveniently close to the city, restaurants, and, most importantly, the sea. Every morning, we could watch the turtles from the balcony. We can only say good things about this place!

We stayed at La Veranda for 6 nights and it was a pleasure. The host Mr. Chandana and his team made sure that our stay was enjoyable with a very nice breakfast, clean rooms and a very helpful attitude. The hotel has just 6-7 rooms but the location is right on the beach. We were looking for a relaxed vacation in Sri Lanka where we could see the water and hear the ocean throughout our stay and this met our requirements perfectly. We will stay here again when we visit Unawatuna

Nice and quiet place with a small private beach. Rooms are clean though a bit outdated and need maintenance. Our bathroom had a few issues which the owner fixed promptly. Other than that, it was comfortable stay. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was limited, especially for vegetarians- bread and fruits but they happily accommodated our request for a Sri Lankan breakfast the next day. Overall, a comfortable stay.

amazing vacation in privacy. clean, tasty, quiet, beautiful view of the sea. the owner is very friendly. you can exchange money and order a taxi from him. if we go to sri lanka again, we will return to this hotel. a small quiet hotel for those who really need a break from the hustle and bustle. thank you for a real vacation

One of the most relaxing place directly in front of the sea, with a little private beach. Very quiet, always cool thanks to the sea breeze, recommended for those who enjoy the sea sound. Breathtaking views from our room. Mr. Chandana will help arrange excursions. Friendly and warm welcome.

Located on the main road and walkable to Unawatuna beach. When I checked in I was shown to my delux double with sea view. First question I always ask does the tv work. The answer was no. I advised I had booked my room over 5 months in advance with an advertised tv. No working tv was unacceptable. They immediately changed tv sets and programmed access to Apps of which I was happy with Youtube. Negative review avoided. The young manager was friendly and helpful during my stay. My room up on the first floor faced directly to the ocean. It was a clean, modest size room. A small mirror table & stool, slatted table & wardrobe made up the furniture inclusions. The aircon, ceiling fan & fridge all worked fine. Lighting was good throughout. My bed had clean linens and afforded me a comfortable sleep to the sound of the waves. There was a power point at the side of the bed. The bathroom was compact though the shower was an enclosed unit. The hot water rain shower had excellent water pressure. One quirk was the toilet seat would not stay up. This should be addressed. The balcony was shared with a room next door but the table and 2 chairs were recessed so as to maintain a degree of privacy. Sitting on the balcony watching the ocean with a nice sea breeze was just divine. Breakfast for me was an omelet, toast, mixed fruit and juice. Enough to get me through the day. Marmalade was also available. There are restaurants in other hotels nearby for dinner. There is a sandy area right at the front & there are a couple of small areas between the rocks for a dip. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay here. Happy to recommend.

The hotel is located on the beach with excellent views from the balcony. It is in very close proximity of the unawatuna beach which is of a great advantage. The hotel is well maintained and ckean. The rooms are OK. They satisfy your requirements but Dont qualify as luxury. Vegetarian food options are limited.
Excellent staff and a very hospitable manager Mr Chandana. He arranged the whale watching tour from the hotel and gave us good recommendation for the scuba diving programme.
