Sayura Beach Hotel in Unawatuna

The Hotel is located quite nice at the beach but the facility is quite in a state. The hotel is obviously old and needs some renovation. This is one thing but what was quite unsatisfying was the cleanliness. The room was so dirty that we had black feet after 5 minutes in the room. The chair was dirty with stains and the bathroom was ok but obviously gone over quickly, as the trash bin was still dirty and you shouldn’t look too closely in the corners. The staff was friendly but the receptionist was not very attentive and her cellphone and friends calling seemed more important. The staircase was dirty with hair and the stairs itself hat rusty lamps sticking out. The common area in the lobby had changing rooms, but the toilet was so dirty for four days that we were not able to use it and also no toilet paper was provided. Some sun beds were also not quite appealing. Als the garden had some hazards for the kids like a pice of wood with rusty nails, a broken wooden terrace and a broken light bulb. The breakfast was quite good and the restaurant staff were very nice and attentive. The size of the room was also quite big. Since our flight was delayed we needed to check out later. It took a long discussion and back and forth until we were able to check out later. The hotel was really empty due to the Middle East crisis so we did not understand the point why this is such a problem to let us stay a little longer with the kids without charging us extra. So all in all I’m sorry to say that I cannot recommend this hotel.

They're completely unfriendly. There's a woman at reception who won't let you access the beach through the hotel. She directs everyone to go to the scammers at the side of the hotel for 200 rupees. But who cares – they still have plastic straws in the restaurant! This is despite the fact that all the normal places have already banned plastic straws as a significant polluter. And these people charge money just to be on Turtle Beach! It's disgusting to be like this!

The staff is not prossional at all. Need to talk with the Hotel owner. The staff do not polite and disconnected lines when talking and when call again, they do the same. It is important to talk with the owner and discuss. Please contact me immediately
