Hotel Colibrv in Lugano

Hotel is straight out of 70s, seems like nothing has been touched, but it’s clean and nicely up kept. Staff is very polite & nice. The sight is simply wonderful! We might be back.

Retro modern hotel, squint your eyes and it might not be out of place in 70s Vegas.
Liked · I like the retro modern feel of this hotel. My room felt like a small suite that wouldn’t be out of place in 70s Vegas. Great views over the lake from both my room and the dining area which served a fine breakfast.
It was very dog friendly too which is very appreciated.

Disliked · Parking is not the most convenient if you have a lot of baggage as there are a lot of steps from the parking below. You may be able to unload by the door if you use the lane to the back above the hotel.

Me and my wife visited this hotel at the end of December with our three months old child. I have booked this hotel primarily because the price was reasonable and the view was nice. We booked a room with balcony and view of the lake. The location was both an advantage and a disadvantage. It's located on a Mountain (Bre) and thus the great view. Public transport connectivity is there. There is ONLY ONE BUS ROUTE which runs from city to the hotel. The bus runs every 30 minutes in either direction and takes 20 mins from the center to reach the hotel. So if you want to use public transport and also stay at the hotel, you might need to wait from time to time. The service was great. We requested a change of mattress topper which was promptly actioned. Judging by the room we stayed in, the rooms can use some renovation. The room and washroom were clean, However, those are not modern. The shower was not good with low water pressure for hot water. The bed was super comfortable wit comfortable blankets. Just the balcony in itself was not as appealing as it appeared in the catalogue. The breakfast was good. It was not amazing but much better than similar priced B&Bs we stayed in. Check-in check-out was smooth and uneventful.

Recently visited the hotel on a two nights stay with my wife , daughter and granddaughter. Used the buses to take us from the train station direct to the hotel. It is way out of town but only 15 minutes by bus which stops outside the hotel. The hotel is spotless with very comfortable beds. The rooms are spacious with very nice en suites. Breakfast was plentiful and very fresh . Staff were all friendly and helpful. But the best thing about the hotel was the magnificent views over the lake. This is worth the cost of staying at the hotel just for that. My only quibble was the wifi which was rather hit and miss but that is only a minor irrigation.

Spent 2 nights at Hotel Colibri while visiting friends in the Lugano area. Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our room was located in the main building which is indeed quite old fashioned , but very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. Our suggestions would be the replacement of the old hair dryers which don’t work very well and the addition of a hot breakfast and more varied cold meat ( pork free). Special thanks to Nick who was very helpful and understanding !

Wonderful lake view and lovely outdoors swimming pool. Love it.
