Phi Phi Top View Resort in Phi Phi Island

The only thing that is good about this hotel is it’s very good location near the Tong Sai port and other amazing restaurants near by and it’s pool which was pretty nice which is the reason this is not a 1 star review

We had a pretty horrible experience all around in this hotel for 2 main reasons:
1. The showers are the worst showers I’ve ever experienced in a hotel in general (worse than many hostels I’ve visited). As many mentioned in other reviews the water moves from cold to warm very often randomly and stays cold for a while. Water barely gets out of the shower head, such low pressure that it was difficult to shower with. And the water has a disgusting “salt” taste and smell to it. The shower we had even had a patch of mold on the top that made the entire room smell awful. On top of all that the provided shampoo and soap smell horrifyingly bad just in case you found any enjoyment in the shower.

2. Stains. There were stains everywhere, mold stains on the walls, stains on the sheets, stains on the towels. Yes the bed sheets are washed and the towels are, too, but there’s no excuse for having a huge stain on every single towel we received. Even when we asked to exchange towels we still got towels with stains on them

If you’ve any sense don’t stay in this hotel. Receptionist can barely speak English never mind work out simple maths. I booked 3 rooms and was told we all had to pay 500 baht deposit which we all did. I was given a receipt to say I’d been paid and then the receptionist started accusing me of saying I haven’t paid the deposit and he was checking the CCTV. I said no problem, CCTV clearly showed I had paid the deposit. However because when I initially paid I have him 1x 500 baht and 5x 100 baht, he then asked are you paying for both deposits for 2 rooms I said oh no, sorry I didn’t realise I’d given you 1000 so I left him with the 1x 500 baht and took the other 5x 100 baht instead. To sum it up, he was basically accusing me of not paying the deposit, despite already giving me a receipt to say that I had. Liars with minimal English. At the end of the day 500 baht is around £12 but it’s the principle of his ACCUSATIONS and stupidity not being able to work out simple maths and understand the actual role of his own job. As for rest of the hotel, if you’re into carrying 20kg suitcases up Mount Everest to get to your hotel room you might like it here. Waste of time and a rubbish start to what was supposed to be a relaxing family with holiday. Gorgeous view but … 100’s of steep steps up to get to the apartments. The area around the hotel is very poor and not clean at all. The staff were not helpful. The bed was like sleeping on a wooden board. The shower was cold. The safe didn’t work. And the air conditioning doesn’t reach the bed so pointless. All in all a big disappointment. However very cheap I guess.

These scamers are not to be trusted in any circumstances. They should be delisted from all serious booking agregators. The story: We are a group of friends planning a 1 month holiday (December-January) in Thailand. We booked our accomodations in June. We are travelling all over the country so, in order to avoid any surprises, we booked in advance. All our reservations were booked and payed through Agoda. We booked 5 rooms at Phi Phi Top View Resort for 4 nights, for New Years Eve. The booking was from 30 December-3rd of January. At the begining of November (5 months after the booking), 2 of us (2 rooms) received a message (inside Agoda app) from the property saying that they have to cancel our 2 reservations (from a total of 5) beacause they will renovate the property (on New Year's Eve!!!!!). Try to find something available on such a small island like Phi Phi, 2 months in advance of The New Year's Eve. Agoda said they couldn't help (beacuse "the hotel decided to cancel our booking for renovations" and thay coudn't find anything available on the island (of course they couldn't, all properties are triple the price, just before the winter holiday, if there are any available). Conclusion: the hotel decided to re-sell the rooms at higher prices with no shame/remorse and they ruined our New Year's Eve stay. Agoda didn't do anything to to help , also. So avoid Phi Phi Top View Resort if you don't want surprises on your Phi Phi holidays.

Very unimpressed with the hotel from the get go. The phone number on google and through Agoda doesn’t work so couldn’t contact the hotel. Lots of other hotels were collecting their guests baggage at the port on trolleys but as we didn’t get that and had to walk through the town in the heat for what would normally be a 15 min walk but with crowded streets and the heat it took 20/25 mins. The office location on Google Maps is wrong, took us climbing up a hill unnecessarily just to go back down and have to ask a local for directions. The reception was no where to be seen when we got there, and once she finally showed up we got very little information, just a vague gesture to where the restaurant and pool were. The walk to the room was up lots of steep steps, we were sweating by the time we got to the room only to find it was like a sauna as the air con was not on and took forever to cool the room down. We stay 2 nights but spent very little time in the hotel. Breakfast was average. When running the tap you had a small of sewage. We had requested and paid 200 baht for our 3 luggage bags to be taken to the pier in one of their trolleys for 10am as our ferry was leaving at 10.30. We left a bit earlier to walk around the town so was trusting they would be there to meet us on time. They were over 20 minutes late (for a 10 to 15 min walk to the pier) meaning we had a big panic about missing our boat. We couldn’t contact them (due to them not having correct phone number online), and they didn’t contact us even though we gave them our phone number that morning in case of a situation like this. I had to run towards the hotel and luckily saw him half way down and asked him to run to the port as our boat was leaving in 5 mins. Overall very unhappy with the stay. Definitely not worth the £40 per night and added so much stress as we were leaving. Find somewhere else more trustworthy and helpful!
