Kimpton Kitalay Samui by IHG in Choengmon

Although the resort is beautifully designed with a romantic and relaxing atmosphere, my experience was unfortunately affected by noise from neighboring villas, which significantly reduced the sense of privacy.

Unfortunately, the peaceful retreat I was hoping for turned into a stressful experience due to noise disturbance. It felt disappointing, as a resort of this standard and design should ideally offer a calm environment suitable for rest and relaxation.

I understand that guests can choose where to stay, but we cannot choose who stays next to us. It’s a pity that such a beautifully designed resort feels less suitable for guests who truly value silence, privacy, and a restful atmosphere.

I stayed in a Garden Pool Villa, which was very spacious and thoughtfully designed. The private pool (1.2 m deep) was a great size, and the villa felt well equipped with many details focused on guest comfort. The bed and bedding are custom-made for the villas using bamboo fiber fabric, making sleep very comfortable. The villa includes Aesop amenities, a Dyson hairdryer, Bluetooth speaker, bathtub, and both indoor and outdoor showers. In-room dining is available and adds to the feeling of privacy.

The reception team was helpful and informative. Special thanks to Concierge Khun Por for his professional and attentive service, including airport pickup.
Butler service
In contrast, the butler service did not meet my expectations. The interaction felt rather surface-level and lacked sincerity. On the last day of our stay, there was no follow-up at all — no check-in to ask how we slept, whether we needed assistance, confirmation of our check-out time, or offer to help with luggage. This was disappointing, especially for a hotel of this level where personalized service is usually expected.

Housekeeping / Turn-down service
Housekeeping overall maintained good cleanliness, however, the turn-down service on the last night was not satisfactory. Despite informing the staff of our preferred time in advance, the service arrived almost two hours late, with the explanation that they were busy. This affected our rest and felt inconsistent with the level of service we had anticipated.

Breakfast offered both Thai and Western options with good quality. The hotel also provides afternoon snacks, which is a nice touch, and there is a small café within the resort for casual coffee breaks.

The spa is beautifully designed and relaxing. Special thanks to Khun On and Khun Tarn for their excellent massage techniques and service-minded care.

Dining at Fish House was a highlight in terms of service and food quality. Many thanks to Khun Ravirn and Khun Apple for their warm, professional, and attentive service. The food was fresh and delicious in a lovely beachfront setting. Boho offers all-day dining with both Thai and Western dishes, while the pool bar has a great seaside atmosphere with friendly staff.

The fitness center is very large and well organized into cardio, weight training, and yoga zones. The beach is long and suitable for walking, although there are some rocks in the sea, which may cause minor discomfort when entering the water.

Despite many positive aspects, the resort’s romantic and refined design contrasts with the actual guest profile, as many guests are large families with young children. Noise from nearby villas, including loud play and knocking on shared walls, made it difficult to fully relax. For guests who are sensitive to noise or seeking a quiet retreat, this resort may not be the right choice — even when staying in a Pool Villa.

Overall, Kimpton Samui offers excellent service, thoughtful design, and high-quality facilities, but expectations should be carefully considered, especially for travelers prioritizing peace and tranquility.

One of the worst checkout experiences I’ve ever had.

Despite multiple requests for luggage pickup, no one came. Instead, the hotel kept calling my room to rush me to check out while completely failing to provide basic assistance. I was forced to go to the front desk myself, with my car already waiting outside and my luggage still upstairs.

This was a total breakdown in coordination and professionalism. Completely unacceptable for a hotel at this price level. I would not stay here again.
