Laem Sila Resort in Lamai Beach

Great location, great villas, practically have the whole place to ourselves as not in peak period. Only issue for some people will be the fact that its located up a very steep hill but it free exercise. If your going to be using a scooter, be careful. It is well worth the veiws up here and the pool veiw up top is even better!

The room and the view was so nice. You could see the palm trees and the beach from the balcony - that was so beautiful!

They cleaned the room every day, it was really clean all the time. You get everyday fresh coconut for free and 4 bottles of water.

The owner is so friendly - he’s such a nice guy. He helped us with booking tours and he picked us up when we came back from the tour and also drove us to the pier when we left.

All in all we were completely happy staying at Laem Sila. Highly recommend.

We spend two night in this place and im very satisfied with our house. The view is unbelievable, the rooms are spacious and built with regards to the nature. I can just highly recommend this property. Be aware, this place is not suitable for children and handycaped people due the stairs. Otherwise all else is absolutely fine.

We were a group of 5 people staying in the 2 bedroom villa (which is at the highest point) for a month.

The positive:

- The most amazing views you can imagine. Take a look at the pictures.
- For stays over a month your villa gets cleaned every week, sheets get changed, new towels.
- Air Conditioning works perfectly.
- Beautiful and well maintained gardens
- 2 pools with FANTASTIC views that you get almost privately
- VERY calm
- There is a washing machine and a water fountain , however they are all way down many many steep stairs
- There is a “free shuttle” which is actually a very nice 4x4 that will take you from the villa to two places: a mini market (however there is not much to buy there) and a close by beach (small beautiful beach but many rocks when you get into the water).

The negative:

- The location: you absolutely need a mean of transport to move around. It is located over a hill to which many taxis do not agree to go up. If you do not rent a scooter/car you will be dependent on the cars of the hotel. They will take you to different places for a fare similar to a taxi. However add that to your travel budget as you can not walk anywhere. You will always need someone to take you.
- Again related to the location, there are no restaurants, bars or anything walking distance. The villa is amazing but you need to go to the supermarket before hand because you will not be able to get anything once there. Grab works sometimes but many times they reject the orders because of the location.
- There is zero contact with people from Airbnb/booking if your rent through them. Your only point of contact would be people in the hotel. They speak a very very basic English which makes communication difficult.
- As it is located in a semi remote location in the mountains, they are many bugs and several toads that chill on the aria you will have to take to get to the villa. Some people don’t care about this (in my group it was half half). In my case toads are the only animal I absolutely don’t like so this was a big no for me.
- The maintenance of sunbeds/the terrace in the last floor is deficient. They are broken and old.
- Our scooters got hit by someone in the hotel, when asking to get access to the cameras that pointed directly towards where that happened so we could transfer them to insurance they said “it was broken”. Did not help and just said “it’s not our fault, it’s not our fault”. They did not follow up at all.
- Customer service is not very important in this place.
- It is not really a “resort” it is more like a home stay, private property with no more than 5 people working there who come and go.

As a summary, coming back to samui I would not stay in the same place, however views, terrace, pools and the rooms were outstanding this is why I rated it 4 out of 5.

This resort is on a hill so you can see the ocean from above ground level. You can also see the airport from a far distance (there won’t be any noise at all). Rooms are spacious and two small pools are available. Staffs are friendly and helpful, especially for Manager Pakorn who speaks very good English. We also like the breakfast and the friendly dogs there.

Nice resort with good quality accommodations. Up a huge hill which makes the view amazing but it quite inconvenient to access. The breakfast offers nice variety of western options and it is a calm atmosphere !
