SO/ Bangkok in Bangkok

It was a bit more expensive than other hotels in Bangkok, but I think it was worth it. The room was very comfortable and cozy, and all the staff were kind. Also, the view from the lounge and the infinity pool was fantastic.

The pool was great, though the room was a bit small. Service was excellent. The sky bar is quite expensive; a plate of chicken wings plus pork fries cost 2000 Thai Baht. Overall, I'm satisfied!

SO/Bangkok brings a fresh breath of air into Bangkok, with five different themed rooms, which (if I recall correctly) are Wood, Water, Metal, Earth, and Fire.

The hotel is conveniently located at the corner of Rama IV, and has 2 different entrances, allowing you to depart or arrive from the side that has lesser traffic. It is also walking distance from Central Park and One Bangkok shopping malls.

I was warmly greeted by staff in uniquely colourful uniforms and was helped to the 19th floor where the lobby and bar is located. This stay, I got myself a Wood themed room and upon entry, made me feel welcomed and relaxed. Bed was comfortably soft, and the many pillows provided me with a good night's rest.

The bathroom was spacious, with a humongous tub. Bathroom amenities were well displayed and provided. The thick slippers are a lovely touch.

What I enjoyed was the fitness corner and the infinity pool. Unfortunately it wasn't heated so the water temperature was chilling. Nothing to dampen my spirits though, as the view of the park across was great.

Also included breakfast in my stay and I have to admit the breakfast spread, and the quality, are top notch. Outdoor smoking tables are also provided for those who need a bit of "oxygen" as they dine.

I really enjoyed my stay here as you can tell with the numerous photos attached. I also highly recommend having the buffet dinner at Soshi, which comes at a very good price as a hotel guest.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, which is especially known for its outstanding location and breathtaking views over Lumpini Park. The view alone is truly exceptional and one of the highlights of the entire experience.

The breakfast was absolutely outstanding – without a doubt the best I have ever had in any hotel. The variety, quality, and overall presentation were on a very high level and exceeded my expectations.

The service was excellent and fully in line with a five-star standard. Staff were professional, attentive, and friendly throughout my stay.

Cleanliness was generally good, although there were a few minor issues. For example, the scale in the room was not usable due to an empty battery. Additionally, the shower head in the bathtub had a defect – water was leaking from the handle or connector, causing it to spray in multiple directions and partially flood the bathroom.

The biggest downside, in my opinion, was the gym area. For a hotel of this category, the fitness facilities were clearly lacking. There was no pull-up bar, no dip station, and the dumbbells only went up to 24 kg. Furthermore, there was no barbell or proper setup for exercises like bench press. At a minimum, a hotel of this standard should provide a basic free-weight area or equipment for bodyweight exercises such as pull-ups and dips.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay, mainly due to the location, view, breakfast, and service. However, there is definitely room for improvement, particularly in the gym area.

The service was a bit off, staff were not that friendly but overall not bad. Location was good next to the park, huge shopping mall and mrt.

From an accommodation perspective, the Metal Element is brighter than the Earth Element and overall slightly better. However, the only downside is that the TV in the room often had issues when connecting to my phone. Additionally, due to the bathroom design, water tends to overflow more easily.

Aside from these minor issues, everything else was very good.

The location here is excellent, and the breakfast was absolutely perfect.

However, the room felt quite dark and a bit outdated, so I wasn’t completely satisfied with that part. Aside from the room, though, everything else was perfect.

I have visited many Accor properties across the world, including Sofitels (or So/), and this is the best one I have been to so far.

The service is everything you’d expect from a 5-star property.
The breakfast is the best I have experienced across all Accor properties.
Rooms are modern and well kept. As a Gold member, kudos to the team for upgrading me 2 levels above the room I had booked (as there was availability).

I will definitely go there again when I visit Bangkok again.
