Reviews
The balcony doors are so noisy it sounds like tables are being dragged across the rooms.
There are around 10 light switches in the room! Why do you need so many lights! No one can tell which switch does what and all you can hear from the adjoining rooms is light switches going on and off!
The doors slam so loudly that you will get disturbed unless you are a heavy sleeper!
The corridor hallways are so squeaky to walk on. You’ll hear someone coming long before they are anywhere near your room. It’s just so ridiculous how the walkway in a hotel can be so noisy!
It’s a visually nice place but I didn’t get much sleep during my 3 nights. It’s not the guests fault, it’s just a poorly designed hotel.
On a positive note, very attentive and friendly staff. Unfortunately, I won’t be staying here again though.
Thanks Bee for your help.
Pool is completely shaded all day every day.
Location is good
The room was spacious, spotless, and elegantly decorated with local Northern Thai touches. The bed was very comfortable, and all amenities were well-prepared — from the air conditioning and minibar to the bathroom essentials. Everything felt clean, calm, and thoughtfully designed.
The location couldn’t be better — right in the Old City, close to temples, cafés, and the Sunday Walking Street Market. It’s convenient yet peaceful, making it easy to explore Chiang Mai by foot or short tuk-tuk rides.
The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay. Their smiles and genuine hospitality made me feel truly welcome. They also provided great local tips and assistance with transportation and tours.
Breakfast and facilities were excellent. The variety of Thai and international dishes was fresh and delicious. The rooftop pool was a lovely place to unwind after sightseeing, and the small gym was well-maintained.
Overall, my experience was beyond expectations — perfect for both leisure and cultural travelers. I highly recommend Lanna Oriental Hotel to anyone looking for a charming, comfortable, and authentic Chiang Mai stay. I’ll definitely return on my next visit!

Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
A couple 100m from the night food market and at the north gate, so 5 stars for location.
Rooms have A/C, are clean and have curtains. Be careful when booking, they have both fan only and A/C rooms. Shared showers and sinks so unlikely you'll have to wait (you can get to another floor of needed). So 5 stars.
Service is a 4 stars mostly because the owners aren't really good at English so it was hard to communicate. But they were nice and helpful.
Considering the price and the fact that there's a restaurant there so you can have a tea or breakfast it's a 5 start overall.
