Little Shelter Hotel Chiangmai in Chiang Mai City

Trip.com's quality control for listings that don't match the actual product is really terrible now 😅😅. Absolutely awful 👎, everything was fake. The surrounding area was all ruins; the taxi driver was scared to even drive in. We had to go around several streets to get there, and it was surrounded by ruins 😅😅. What 'river view'? It was a dirty, murky pond 😄😅. There was no front desk, just a bar, and no restaurant. What 'art award'? 😅 The room looked like something a 'wannabe artist' from a small town would rent. It was tiny, the head of the bed was almost touching the TV, and the bedding was very dark and old. I took one look and quickly checked out 😱. And they wouldn't let me cancel! This place is a rip-off. Chiang Mai was a huge, huge disappointment.

don't have a any safety tool even if elevators was black out ... i pushed emergency bell anybody don't answer ..
Swimming pool so dirty .. and too many problems ...

하루 정도 있을거면 추천하지만 그래도 여긴 정말 비추천 해요 ... 호텔앞 입구에 작은 고랑이 있는데 거길 잘 못 밟아 계단에 넘어 졌는데 ... 무릎이 다쳐서 로비에 갔는데 와서 도와줄 생각은 안하고 실실 웃기만 하더니 소독약이 밴드 있냐고 물어 보니 그재서야 주어요 ... 1층 로비에서 튼 음악은 4층 객실 안까지 들리고 ... 엘리베이터가 정전되어 비상벨을 눌러도 아무 응답이 없고 ... 호텔 들어오는 메인도로 입구가 막혀 있는데 안내 표시도 하나 없어서 돌에서 헤메고 ... 택시가사는 짜증내고 ... 아침식사는 진짜 맛이 없어요 ...
욕실바닥은 미끄럽고 샤워기는 없고 레인샤워만 있어 씻기 엄청 불편하고 ... 11시 이후론 로비가 닫혀 서비스가 아무것도 안되고요 객실에 로비랑 연결 되는 전화가 없어 룸서비스 요청하려면 1층 로비까지 내려가야 해요 ... 절대비추 홑텔 외관이 이뻐서 예약했다 ... 너무 낡고 관리안되고 불편한 호텔에 있었어요 ...

Don’t be fooled by the pictures — please come knowing what to actually expect.

I was really disappointed with my stay at Little Shelter and want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision.

1. No communication from the hotel
I emailed weeks in advance asking about airport transfers because Agoda said it was included. I never received a reply. My husband even called the morning of our arrival and still heard nothing. For a hotel claiming 4 stars, this is unacceptable.

2. Inconvenient location + difficult access
The hotel is over 3 km from the city center, meaning you’ll need to Grab or taxi everywhere. The road leading to the hotel is under construction — very dusty, bumpy, and dirty — and this was not mentioned anywhere.

3. Nice river view, but lots of mosquitoes
The river setting is pretty, but there are many mosquitoes, which makes sitting outside uncomfortable.

4. Room size and upgrade issue
We booked a Deluxe King room, but it was quite small. We tried to upgrade, but the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t offer anything else.

5. Cleanliness and maintenance issues
This was the biggest disappointment:
• Plastic mirrors on the walls looked cheap and were dusty.
• The ceiling images were pixelated and low-quality.
• Slippers were worn and dirty.
• Bathroom had grime, and even the lotion bottle looked unclean.

For a hotel claiming design awards, the maintenance and attention to detail were extremely poor.

6. Pool is not functional for swimming
The pool is pretty shallow — it looks more decorative than usable. Not very clean and very narrow

7. Breakfast starts very late
Breakfast only starts at 8:00 AM, the latest I’ve seen in any hotel. Not ideal if you have morning plans.

Overall
This felt more like a 2–3 star experience, not the 4-star hotel it’s advertised as. The design concept and river view are nice, but poor communication, cleanliness issues, small rooms, and an inconvenient location make the stay disappointing. Don’t be fooled by the pictures — set your expectations accordingly.
