Reviews
The breakfast was extremely poor: only toast and two fried eggs, with no choice or variety. On our last day, leaving early, we simply couldn't have breakfast, and nothing was offered to us in exchange (no breakfast box, no alternative solution).
The day before, however, we saw another guest with a well-stocked plate. When we asked him how he got it, he explained that he had to fill out a form at the reception. No one ever informed us or asked us about this. Really a shame, and above all, unfair.
The service leaves a lot to be desired: the receptionist didn't speak English, which made communication very difficult. When we asked for cushions for the pool, we were told there weren't any — which is frankly not normal. We did receive towels for the pool, fortunately.
The pool was used, but the water was cloudy and visibly dirty. As for the spa, it's hard to understand how it deserves that name... nothing corresponds to the idea of a spa.
The room looks nice on paper, but it's poorly maintained:
• little hot water,
• a broken and flickering bathroom light,
• the key used to activate the electricity didn't work properly and was broken,
• presence of insects (ants) in the room.
It's a real shame, because the place must have been magnificent in another era. Today, the potential is there, but the maintenance and service clearly don't live up to it. A great disappointment.
I stayed at this property expecting a 5-star experience, but it was more like a 2-star nightmare. First of all, the pool was absolutely filthy. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, and it was completely unusable.
The hotel has a strange and frustrating policy that charges you 300 THB per hour for early check-in—even if you arrive only an hour before the standard check-in time at 2 PM. This is both unreasonable and incredibly inconvenient. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
As for the room, it was old, run-down, and frankly, it felt haunted. The furnishings were dated and in poor condition, and the entire place felt unsanitary. I was expecting a "deluxe" room, but what I got was a room in the basement that felt damp and claustrophobic. Not the luxurious escape I had hoped for!
Overall, this hotel doesn’t live up to the hype and certainly isn’t worthy of a 5-star rating. If you’re looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay, I’d strongly recommend you look elsewhere.
Staff are lovely and friendly, which is Thailand. The grounds need some TLC, and the place is a little bit shabby.
No spa at this hotel; it closed in 2019, which was a disappointment to hear because I wanted to stay at a spa hotel.
Overall, it's not a 5-star hotel. The 3-star rooms are great, and the bed provided a great sleep.
When we arrived after travelling for over 20 hours, we arrived early in the morning. No effort was made by the staff to get us checked in before 2pm. 7 hours hanging around waiting to check in. As someone who works in hotels in Ireland 🇮🇪 you really would try to get people checked in as quickly as you have a room available. It's called hospitality. We offered to pay to check in early and were told that to do so would cost more than a full nights rate.
Location wise, it's over 3km to the old town, which was our own fault as we did not research enough. I would advise anyone travelling to look at booking in the old town area. As the area of the hotel is also very run down and not much to do.
If you’re not woken up by airplanes, it’s likely to be the sound of neighboring guests opening their door latches, a rooster crowing, rainfall, or dogs fighting nearby. These are all common sounds in the area, but they become surprisingly loud due to the poor insulation of the rooms.
We also found a cockroach in our bathroom, again, not entirely unexpected given the visible gaps around the front door.
Breakfast was somewhat disappointing: the options were limited to curry, rice, watermelon, and pre-packaged bread. While that might suit travelers who enjoy a local-style start to the day, those expecting a continental or more varied breakfast will likely be underwhelmed.
Lastly, keep in mind that the hotel is located about a 20–30 minute walk from the city center. If you prefer to take a taxi, expect to pay around 150–200 baht per trip.
