The room was large, with a comfortable bed and a nice, spacious balcony. That was the main positive. Unfortunately, there were several drawbacks. There was a persistent sewage smell coming from the sink in the bathroom, which was quite unpleasant. Breakfast was uninspiring: four set options, three of which were Asian. If you don’t feel like noodles or meat in the morning, the only alternative is fried eggs with bacon, tomato and potato, plus some fresh fruit. This gets boring quickly. We only discovered on the last day that yoghurt was available — it is not offered or mentioned. The room itself could use some maintenance; everything feels a bit tired. Due to the connecting door to the neighboring room, it was very noisy. The location is not ideal, although we were aware of that beforehand. Experiences may vary per room, but in our case the negatives clearly outweighed the positives. Not worth repeating and not a hotel I would recommend — there are better options in Chiang Mai.

We stayed 7 nights at the hotel, and I highly recommend it. The hotel is well located, about a 10–15 minute walk from a night market, and it’s in the old city of Chiang Mai, which allows you to experience the local atmosphere. The staff is very welcoming and attentive, the rooms are cleaned daily, and the hotel is spotless. Breakfast is tasty and filling. A big thank you to the hotel manager as well — she gave us excellent recommendations for places to visit in and around Chiang Mai and even suggested a great driver who took us to amazing spots we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. If you’re running out of ideas for things to do in the city, you can ask her for recommendations — she’ll be happy to guide you.

Very comfortable hotel.Very well presented. Nicely decorated and furnished. All you need for an enjoyable stay.Only a short ride to Markets and shopping centres. Staff are amazing,and Noi the lady at reception is wonderful and very obliging.
Staying here was a great choice and we would definitely stay here again.Highly recommend.

Nice cozy family run hotel in a quiet neighborhood, only 15 minutes walking to the South Gate of the historic city. Very friendly staff and excellent morning chef, delicious Va Orie of breakfast daily. Plus a nice fresh swimming pool to cool off! Will be back again.!

Sugar Cane is the cutest!!! It has such an authentic Chiang Mai vibe. The beds are AMAZING!!! The bed sheets are wonderful! The American breakfast is super yummy and the other two options are great too! The mini coffee mart is super easy to use and the bathrobes are a nice touch! The balcony and morning views and animal sounds are very pleasant. Overall, can’t go wrong!! The towels are so thick and clean too!!!

Our group of 12 had an amazing and restful time as always. I cannot express how nice it is to come to this quiet haven of beautiful architecture, greenery, pool, and friendly cats! Your beds and pillows are still the best. Your breakfast - better than best. Some of us loved the pool, others cruising the friendly neighborhood, and all of us your amazing and helpful staff. Wicha, Stuart, and now Joseph - thank you for everything! Can't wait until next time.

People rated rally nice and we were extremely interested to stay there. Bed were really comfy and the location was really quiet and nice. But we didn't really know the hotel offer coffee. The owner just greeted to Westerners and she wasn't really bother to say hello to us. We gotta ask if the hotel offer coffee. We felt this is really typical Fa Rang preferred Hotel. Loads of mosquitoes will attack you if you are around the lobby and in your verandah. Pool area is really slippery with iron sheet. Worst of all is that the owner was too unfriendly. We will not return to this Hotel. Khun

Just left the Sugar Cane after a 5 day stay. We had a great stay, perfect location 15 mins walk into the Tha Phea Gate/Night Market. The rooms are large and airy, super clean. Staff are really friendly and helpful - highly recommend it if you are looking for a location inside the city with a warm welcome. Great breakfast too!

Staff are amazing friendly and very helpful. The gentleman that works at night will look after you with anything you need,with a friendly smile. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The supplies are replenished everyday plus fresh towels and linen cleaning staff are lovely. The manager is very helpful and friendly will organise tours for you if needed. The location is perfect nestled in a lovely street very quite but only minutes away from great restaurants,7 eleven and markets. The hotel is beautiful swimming pool and all amenities very clean. This would be my first choice again when I return. We had breakfast included a choice of 4 dishes. I would highly recommend the Chaing Mai sausage so tasty you will need to notify staff 24 hours in advance for this dish. Bacon and eggs were perfect. Large serves kept us full until lunch. Overall this place is a 10/10. Very happy with our stay.

Just spent 4 nights at Sugar Cane, perfect for my needs and the price was good. Rooms cleaned every day, staff super friendly, breakfast was good and the pool was ideal after a day exploring. The hotel is in a nice quiet area but not too far away from town, I hired a motorbike and it wasn’t too crazy. If you do I recommend the Samoeng Loop 👌 I’ll be back 😎
