Tony Resort in Patong

I booked a standard room for two adults on Ctrip, and my biggest regret is not checking it out beforehand. It was quite disappointing. The room was tiny, almost miniature. To make matters worse, there was renovation happening right next to my room that day, with drilling noise all afternoon – it was a nightmare. The toilet also wasn't working well; I had to flush it three times to get it clean. Eventually, I couldn't take it anymore and decided to check out. Ctrip customer service tried to help coordinate, but the hotel refused to issue a refund. I guess they figured I was a tourist and this was a one-time transaction, so they wouldn't budge. I had booked for three nights (over 1700, almost 1800 RMB with tax), which honestly wasn't cheap. I even suggested they deduct one night's fee and refund the remaining two, but they still didn't agree. In the end, they upgraded me to a deluxe pool view room, which overlooked the downstairs pool. The room was much larger, so I suppose that was a small consolation.

Overall, Tony's Villas & Resort offers very mediocre value for money.
