Helpful multilingual staff who assist guests efficiently, including Russian-speaking personnel. Several guests reported small room sizes and awkward interior layouts, including obstructive columns and narrow hallways. Complaints about the rooftop pool being smaller and murkier than photos suggest, described more as a soaking tub than for swimming. Some guests experienced poor housekeeping, including stained towels and linens, and insufficient toiletries. Issues with inconsistent service quality, including rude or unhelpful front desk staff in certain cases. Facilities like gym and indoor pool are small or lacking, with some guests noting broken equipment and unchlorinated pool water.

I'd like to share my impressions of the Orka Royal Hotel + SPA & HAMMAN (Fatih district) during my month-long stay. I'd like to express my deepest gratitude to all the hotel staff. The staff is polite and courteous. The room is cozy, and the maintenance staff ensures cleanliness and order at the highest level. There are some minor downsides due to the pandemic, but they're manageable! Soft music plays constantly in the lobby and spa area for a relaxing atmosphere. I'd also like to highlight the spa staff; they know their job and do it perfectly, professionally and efficiently. Friendliness and respect for clients are in their DNA. For a Russian speaker, there's no problem, as half the staff speak Russian, English, and, of course, Turkish. The spa director doesn't allow for any shortcomings. She's demanding of her staff. And most importantly, she loves and knows her job. The spa offers massages, a pool, a hammam, and a steam room, and everything is top-notch. 👍👍👍 My rating: 9/10

A cozy and quite comfortable hotel nestled among the narrow old streets of Istanbul's historic center. A great place for those who enjoy strolling through the ancient city. The ground-floor restaurant serves excellent grilled meats. The service is top-notch.

Here are the pros of the hotel: The location is superb, with all major attractions within walking distance. Additionally, tram, metro, train, and ferry stops are all conveniently located within a 5-minute walk.

Breakfast was good, offering a decent variety to choose from. The rooftop provides a beautiful panoramic view of the Bosphorus; I thoroughly enjoyed sketching there.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and a convenient mini-market where you can pick up water, fruit, or other essentials.

The room came with a small refrigerator, an electric kettle with cups, and complimentary tea and coffee sachets. The staff were consistently polite and unobtrusive.

The lower ground floor (-1 level) housed a small gym, a hammam, and a compact swimming pool.

However, there were several drawbacks:

The rooftop pool, which appears spacious in the hotel's wide-angle photos, is actually quite small and unsuitable for swimming. It felt more like a communal soaking tub where people simply sit in the water. I also found it uninviting due to its murky water, so I opted not to use it.

The interior design was poorly executed. Stairwells and floor heights seemed mismatched, and massive support columns bisecting the panoramic windows consumed a significant portion (about a third) of our already small room. The room felt cramped and poorly laid out due to these design errors. For instance, the entrance hallway was uncomfortably narrow with the room door opening inwards, there was a column positioned awkwardly in the middle of the sleeping area, and the ceiling featured a polygonal, multi-level design. Furthermore, the tile grout lines on the walls and floor were noticeably misaligned by about a centimeter, which looked incredibly sloppy and felt like an oversight.

The window offered an unattractive view of a car park.

Small details were missing, such as a toothbrush holder in the bathroom and sufficient space to hang and dry towels. There was only a single hook in the bathroom, which was inadequate.

Overall, it's a decent hotel, but its main issues stem from poor spatial planning and questionable aesthetics.

Great location and very welcoming staff. The rooftop pool was smaller than it appeared in the photos, but it offered magnificent views. My room, unfortunately, overlooked air conditioning units, but it was still perfectly fine. Breakfast was excellent.
