Reviews
One staff member, Dowlat, was extremely aggressive and unprofessional. I have never encountered such rude and irresponsible behavior at any hotel. Based on our experience, this place doesn’t deserve more than two stars.
We even checked the location with the reception before booking and asked specifically if the area was flat and easy to walk, with no uphill sections. He assured us everything was fine — but that was completely untrue. The location turned out to be very difficult, with many steep ups and downs.
Do not trust their information. They are not honest with guests.
I strongly advise everyone to avoid this hotel. Don’t waste your money on such poor service and terrible management.
Overall, I would give 1 star for cleanliness, 2 stars for breakfast, 2 stars for the rooms.
I would not recommend this hotel for travelers expecting true 4 star standards.
On the first day, the room was cleaned in the worst possible way. They had walked in with dirty shoes, leaving dust, hair, and dirt all over the floor. The bedding looked messy, and the towels we had intentionally left on the floor were put back on the towel rack as if they were clean. When we complained, the receptionist, whose name was Dowlat, responded angrily and told us we were being picky. We showed him every part of the room that was not cleaned properly, and he even took pictures with his own phone to send to the housekeeping team.
The crib they brought for our child was extremely dirty.
Breakfast was very simple with very limited variety.
The hotel is located on a steep hill, which is inconvenient if you have a stroller or an elderly person.
The room has no closed wardrobe, and the safe is placed very high, making it difficult to reach.
Cleanliness is definitely below standard. The hotel is surrounded by wholesale clothing shops, and there aren’t any good restaurants nearby. At night, the area is very quiet and quite dark.
- Russian-speaking concierge at reception;
- clean bed linens, although obviously old.
Cons:
- view from the window of some abandoned catacombs;
- the hotel is completely filthy. It felt like I was in Cherkizon;
- a spiral fire escape that took up a third of the window, with an ashtray and a trash bag on it. I had to clean it myself;
- thin walls;
- smoking area right below the windows. Opening the windows fills the room with tobacco smoke;
- black mold in the shower;
- the only meat we found for breakfast was chicken kebab. Once, there was no meat at all.
- coffee costs a hundred lira. The only time the concierge (not the one who spoke Russian) did anything was when we started pouring coffee from the coffee machine—he ran up to ask for money. There's no coffee machine in the room.
I would have honestly overlooked all of this, knowing the Turkish mentality, the lack of service in this country, and their haggling, but there was one significant thing: for the first time in all my years of traveling, there was absolutely no gift from the hotel on my birthday. Nothing! Even though I warned them in advance when booking before arrival and personally told two different concierges twice.
Overall, I don't recommend it! A couple of months earlier, we stayed in Seoul at a hotel similar in location, but with absolutely excellent service and cleanliness. Even in Sochi, where we stopped on our way to Istanbul, they congratulated me on my birthday, even though it was a week earlier.
Although this is a 3-star style Hotel and could improve on cleaning standards.
