Rooms and prices
Description
NEW 140-room boutique hotel located on historic Espanola Way in South Beach. Opened in November 2022.
Once a colony for artists and outcasts now reimagined for a new cultural age Esme is a gem hidden in plain sight. Built in 1925 the series of buildings along Espanola Way that make up Esme Village were once a hideaway for Al Capone and his cronies as they ran shady card games and set the backdrop for Desi Arnaz as he started a craze for the rumba. Now a historic landmark these walls set the foundation for 145 guest rooms and suites a roof deck pool and lounge and four dynamic food and beverage concepts all nodding to the colorful history of the Village and offering an escape to a world where time slips away.

Reviews
Great location, food and drinks. Would highly recommend to others and will happily book another trip here again.
The hotel looks nice on the surface and the location is good (albeit a bit unsafe as it’s apartment vibes with multiple entrances from the strip so anyone can walk in at any time). But overall, I wouldn’t stay again and don’t recommend.
The staff aren’t that friendly. The decor is quite tired and the building we stayed in was damp and smelt of it really strongly. The toilet also didn’t flush and water ran in it most of the night. The TV didn’t work either. And we had to get some to fix the safe (and they didn’t come for over 45 mins despite saying it would be immediate).
The music they play at the weekends is so loud you basically can’t sleep. With the doors and windows of the room closed it’s still like being in a club. So we literally had to speak up in the room to even hear each other. And the staff just dismiss any comment about it.
When we arrived, they’d also given new guests keys to an existing guests room so they’d just let themselves into someone’s room. The staff weren’t phased by this at all. So just seems quite unsafe.
The breakfast you add on is just stale toast/bagels and croissants with some juice, porridge, and coffee. So definitely not worth the cost.
For the extras advertised, they’re not friendly/forth coming with them, so you either have to ask a couple of times and figure things out yourself, or you don’t get anything.
Disappointed to have spent money to stay here which I’ve not really had with a hotel before.
The problem came with the noise from The Roof and The Bamboo Room (on-site restaurant & bar) on New Years Eve. I know - it’s New Years Eve in South Beach - noise is to be expected. What we did not expect was our room to sound like a DJ was set up right outside our door until 3 am. The bass was rattling items off of the nightstands. This was a level of noise no one could have slept through. Again, I realize noise is to be expected, but I do feel as though we should have been told during check in and maybe asked if we’d like a room on the quieter area if the property… even if it meant paying an upgraded price. We had to be up early the next morning and maybe slept 2 hours.
That said, the classic rooms are extremely small. Even for petite guests, it’s easy to bump into things when moving from the bed to the bathroom. The lighting is also quite poor, and although an espresso machine is provided, it’s awkwardly placed and surrounded by items that seem to carry additional charges, which makes it less convenient to use.
The resort (or “village”) fee includes a few amenities: daily drinks at the restaurant (we were offered a choice of beer or wine between 5–6 pm, though the timing was difficult to catch), beach chairs and towels (umbrellas cost about $20 per day extra), and bicycle rentals for up to two hours. Unfortunately, the hotel’s main amenity — the rooftop pool and lounge — was closed for renovation during our stay. At check-in, we were told we were simply unlucky, but later learned that other guests were offered alternative options, which felt disappointing. While the resort fee does provide some perks, it takes effort to uncover and make full use of them, as the information is not always clear.
Overall, Esmé is a nice place to stay with an interesting atmosphere, but be sure to confirm whether the resort fee is already included in your booking. It’s also worth researching in advance what amenities are currently available. Lastly, watch out for extra charges, as the hotel places a large deposit hold on your credit card at check-in.
