very good

The hotel is in a very good location, right on Lincoln Avenue in South Beach. The rooms are nice and soundproof, but the room rates are high. The Greek restaurant in the restaurant should have been outsourced, the price/performance ratio is too poor, and the service is average.

The room is small but the bathroom is large and has good soundproofing. The lobby is quite grand. I say this mainly because I have stayed in some five-star hotels in New York. Their lobbies are relatively small, probably because of the high cost of land in New York. The breakfast is good and the surrounding environment is very good. It is suitable for long-term vacation. The hotel is next to the beach and it is very convenient to get to the beach.

Terrible service. It should not have the Ritz Carlton brand. Poor maintenance. Neglect and theft on the beach. Nobody provides good service, they forget. It seems like a hotel without management.

As people who travel regularly, we place a lot of emphasis on other reviews when booking. I was rather concerned reading previous reviews of this property, but having stayed at multiple other Ritz Carlton’s (Singapore, Koh Samui, Dalllas, Melbourne etc) we hoped the brand would live up to expectations and great experiences at other properties. IT DID NOT!

Strongly suggest avoiding this property at all costs. Look at the low ranked reviews, they all make sense to me after staying.

This property has us questioning if we would ever stay with this brand again. Amazing isn’t it, how one property can tarnish a brands reputation.

We have been overcharged after checkout after settling the bill when leaving (unresolved at this point but will get to that later).

The first room we checked into had air conditioning so loud you could not hear the TV. It was also dirty with marks and dust/grime on every surface and excess dog hair on the floor. I went to the front desk and the best they could do was “send someone up to check the A/C. The property was practically empty. This was not good enough!

I was fortunate enough to speak with the GM who remedied the room situation immediately. We then dealt with Daniel (who was on loan from Santa Barbara Ritz Carlton) he was a great reflection on the brand. He upgraded us, which was appreciated but not expected, just a room with a reasonable a/c would have been fine.

Rooms are very average, worn and not clean. Linen was stained, towels so old some had tears and holes in them.

The majority of the staff seemed like they would rather be anywhere else than at the Ritz Carlton South, can’t say I blame them but really let the place down.

When dining they would bring the bill before we had finished dining over and over, at times even advising their break was about to start so needed to provide bill, how about you get another staff member to do this…

Upon checkout I paid with an alternate card than I used for the security deposit (to avoid international transaction fees). I settled the bill of approx $450usd and away we went.

A few days later, a charge of $390usd (approx) appears on my original card used for security deposit (along with an international transaction fee). This charge is absolute rubbish and was not warranted, everything was settled and paid on check out.

I rang and rang and rang all day to the hotel and the phone was never answered. Finally I had to call and international call centre where the wind noise in the background was so loud I could hardly hear. I was then told the extra was for bar charges (not ours!) we had one whisky and a coke at the bar which was on my bill at checkout. I was then told they would try to contact hotel and hopefully in up to 2 weeks they would respond to the call centre, and sometime after to me. This from Ritz Carlton? Disgraceful.

We then got lucky and got the US call centre. This was much more helpful and the agent advised the hotel would call back the same day. Still no call back from Hotel, no explanation of why my card was charged… no invoice, no receipts.

Now I need to go through the process of disputing the transaction with my bank. Really?

The old saying one bad apple spoils the cart, couldn’t be more true of the Ritz Carlton South Beach. There were many other disappointing things that happened during the stay that isn’t even worth going into. Such an epic disappointment from this brand.

I am hoping this property reaches out as promised but it holding my breath.

Do better Ritz Carlton South Beach!

Not wanting to end on such a sour note. Daniel (from RC Santa Barbara) was a standout for guest service as was Noela at the Valet, both embody what guest expect from RC.

One of the affordable ritz carlton but it seems that the hotel is a little bit outdated. Great location tho

Building was bit old and foods were ok. Not the best ritz carlton i have ever stayed
31.08.2023 Guest
The room smelt damp, mouldy… not the best smell for a RC hotel. They shut the A/C down one night for maintenance and the room got uncomfortably hot. That then teamed with a fire alarm at 1am & then again at 5am (obviously caused by the work being carried out) was not a great night stay. After all a hotels basic fulfilment is for a place to sleep!! The staff at the hotel were great 5 star service from the beach, pool, doormen/valet and checkin.

Very nice restaurant. Thank you very much for such a good atmosphere. Delicious food.
Feel very pleased with German. He is very professional and open to customers. He recommended us very delicious food. Five stars for service too.

Went to the Dolce restaurant for dinner with 5 other women. Ambience was nice and relaxed and quiet. Service was excellent. We have a tough customer in the group and the waiter, Rogers, responded to her high demands with grace. Highly recommend the Carpaccio and literally any dessert on the menu.

My friends and I had such a great experience having dinner there. I was extremely pleased with Paolo who was so professional, made us laugh, suggested excellent dishes and made sure we were happy. I have a sesame seed allergy and Paolo made sure he informed the chef, so they made the octopus with no hummus. He also was kind to give us mosquito repellent spray as we were sitting outside, and I sprayed myself, as bugs love me... although my friends didn't and never got bit. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Loved my experience at the Bazaar. I always like to eat at Spanish Tapas restaurants in larger cities. This restaurant did not disappoint, loved all 7 tapas we ordered.

Since I enjoyed my past experiences at The Bazaar in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Jose Andrés’ The Bazaar in Miami Beach.

The $125 tasting menu was awesome with service to match. Definitely the highlight of my first visit to South Beach and hopefully I’ll be able to visit again in the near future.
27.11.2017 Alex
The food was overall good, but definitely not worth the hype. The serving sizes are laughable bordering pretentious. I understand the concept of small portions and presentation but it went too far. I would give 3 or 4 stars but here is why I dock it to 2: there are Bao buns on the menu but what we were served were pork sliders on Brioche buns. These are not Bao Buns by definition and is misleading. Please don’t call them Bao buns if they are pork sliders served on Brioche bread. I then told the waiter this and he agreed. However, he responded with “I can’t disagree with the chef” which I found a little off putting. We asked to take them off the bill which they did.

Expensive but worth it. Great food and service from staff. Was with the whole family so we went with the chefs selection - great family meal.
26.10.2017 Jo
Amazing amazing tapas food! A little bit pricey but totally worth it! Around 3 orders per person. Some dishes are medium size so you might get full just order 2 dishes. If you love food from Spain you should try here!!

When we arrived the hostess was short and rude, just really acted like someone who hated her job and everyone that csme in there. we only had 4 out of our 6 people in the party and she said she couldn't seat us. We told her we were going to order apps and drinks... finally she seated us but only at a four person table. She said we could "slide up two more chairs when they got there".

The servers were mostly nice after that, but the service was extremely slow and undependable. The food was decent at best but WAY over priced, especially for the quality.
17.12.2017 Sarah
Coolest sushi place around. Love the art on the walls. Any go wrong with the SLS.
11.12.2017 Courtney
The food is good but the service is awful! If I could provide no stars I would. Sit in the bar, the servers are much friendlier up there! Our waiter disappeared. We were the first reservation to show up and the room was empty so we weren't even that busy. Then the manager shows up long after we requested the bill, like 30 mins after and has an attitude with us. Again no waiter in sight... Now he can't split the bill for us and gives an attitude about it when someone in be party asked. I don't spend spend 100 bucks for dinner to wait and be yelled out... Not worth it!

Loved it. This place is all about the ambiance. The food of good. The views are great, take your date and have an awesome time.

Exceptional pool party if you have a table. No mater what though, its hard to have a bad time here. The pool is small but it lends itself to a lot of great interactions with other revelers.
07.09.2017 Lorraine
The music was alright. I think its just a personal preference. The food was pretty good for being a day club. The mix drinks had decent amount of alcohol. Something about the ambiance wasn't the best.
31.08.2017 Paulie
If I could give it a 0, I would. They charged hundreds of dollars of items to our credit cards that we never ordered or received, then wouldn't return our calls the next day to try to reconcile. Maybe they are used to dealing with drunk people who don't know they are being screwed and don't know how to handle a sober person with proof...

Avoid this scam.
09.08.2017 Patricia
This Phillipe Starck-designed club in the SLS has ridiculously good food and cocktails courtesy of Jose Andrés and Katsuya Uechi, which is a big part of the reason it's the place to go when you're in the mood for a rowdy, full-on South Beach pool party situation. Located inside the SLS hotel, you'll find beach access, a live DJ, and plenty of bright, striped cabanas and lounge chairs. Check the schedule in advance, as lines can get long (and covers can get expensive) when they have a big DJ on site.
