The amenities are great with some weird kinks. For example - the light switch for the bathrooms is behind the door on the outside of the bathroom so if you open the door you can't effectively reach for the light. You have to turn the light on before opening the door. The bath tub is incredibly high. If you have weak knees or osteoporosis or arthritis, getting over the tub wall to use the shower is a challenge. Speaking of shower - the mixer that turns it on and off is so complicated that it should come with an instruction manual. And yes, this is probably my 40th or 50th visit in this hotel in the span of the last few months. One notable thing about this hotel is that it has the best smelling towels and sheets I've ever used, world wide. While most hotels opt out for unscented detergents, this hotel dares to use a very fresh, gentle scent that makes the towels and the sheets smell awesome.

It's a typical, old-fashioned European hotel. It's relatively clean and tidy inside, but it can't compare to the ones in China.
Otherwise, there's nothing special. This is a relatively centrally located hotel, but that's the norm in Eastern European cities.

I made a huge mistake staying at Hotel Vega in Sofia. If you want good service, stay ONLY with reputable international hotel chains in Bulgaria. I had to spend an unexpected night in Sofia in June 2025 and did not check this hotel in advance. It was a last-minute decision to stay there. The temperature outside was more than 30 °C on this day. The AC in the room was set to 27°C. Around 5 pm, I started boiling in my room. I can't adjust the AC temp in my room. The phone was not working, so I went to the reception desk to ask the receptionist to fix the temperature in my room. The guy started yelling at me, asking me how I dared to bother him and what he could do if the AC is central. All the rooms are hot, no night manager to fix the issue, the owner know, but it's not up to him to fix the issue. We just have to pay and boil there. The bad attitude and service in this country never seem to disappoint me.

We booked in Vega because it’s near a lot of consulates (which was our reason of the trip), so it was very convenient! The breakfast was amazing, simple but very good! Enjoyed every bite. The room was very clean and spacious, had complementary teas and coffee. The view was beautiful! In general, simple but nice hotel!

Hotel rooms are modern, nice and spacious, always seems to be someone at reception. Breakfast had your standard intercontinental foods. I was told you had to pay extra to enter the gym but that seemed a bit excessive. There's a metro station 10 minutes walk away so it's fairly well placed. Only issue was when leaving we asked reception to book a taxi and a van to which a small car turned up and had no ID and didn't handle card or had cash for change. Then proceeded to charge us 30 euro for something that for previous trips cost less than 20l felt like a scam. Other than that I can't really complain

If you want to pay 4* prices for a mediocre 2-3* hotel, this is it. To give you some details:

-Breakfast was basic
-The wifi in the room only worked near the door
-The shower didn't drain properly. Asked to fix it but nobody bothered
-The room didn't have an iron, asked for one, to their credit, I received the next morning
-No bottled water in the room
-Last but not least, the hotel is near a busy intersection and the windows are not sound proof, so if you have light sleep like me, you will have a hard time sleeping.
