Papantonia Hotel Apartments in Protaras

Sorry for the delay in our review, we had just moved house before we went on holiday so have been a busy with sorting our new house. The staff were very friendly and helpful, from the minute we got there at around a quarter to 1 in the morning. Checked in quickly and Thomas on reception had a bit of banter and told us about a bar that was still open just around the corner if we fancied a cold beer after a fairly long journey. Bar staff and staff around the restaurant very cheerful and friendly. The food was excellent with a wide choice of salads, hot and cold meats/meat dishes, fish most days, soup - just a very good choice, and a lot of Meditteranean dishes (which we love, so no problems there) and we thought the food overall was spot on. The Moussaka was divine. All this good quality food for a buffet style, all inclusive hotel. The drinks selection on the all inclusive was vey good with decent beer, red and/or white wine, local spirits - I/we like Ouzo. There was also a cocktail menu included in the AI which is unusual in our experience. So, happy days. The hotel room was spotless with a pool view on the 3rd floor. Large studio style with double bed, sofa, small kitchenette with fridge. One day there was a bit of a smell coming from the drain in the shower. I reported it to reception and withing 10 minutes a chap came with loads of cleaning stuff and 10 minutes later the smell was gone and didn't come back. An excellent and prompt response. Problems can always occur on holiday. What matters more is how the hotel/staff respond and in this case they responded great. Well done. There was always sun loungers to be found and were well located around the two lovely pools. Again, spotlessly clean and perfect for a cold dip after bathing in 27-30 degrees sunshine at the back end of October. Brilliant. As already mentioned, the staff were excellent and friendly but particular mention to the three members of staff in one the picture. From left to right, Sotos (Bar Manager), me, Niyazi (Asst Bar Manager), my wife, and Catalin (Asst restaurant manager). They were all very good, professional but still had a laugh and a joke despite being very busy. They helped to make our holiday. We will definitely be booking to go back next October.

Stayed her at the end of October for a week. It was faultless. It’s 3 star but I’ve stayed in worse 4 and 5 star hotels. All the staff were excellent, always going beyond their call of duty. Forever pleasant and smiling. Catalin, Sotos, Niyazi and Shohag were especially brilliant. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Loved this hotel, nothing was too much trouble. They accommodated our mobility issues and let us charge scooters we hired to charge at reception. The food was the best we have ever had A/I at this star rate hotel. We are booking for 2026. See you soon.

The food and drinks were excellent, everything was great, and even the weather was pleasant. What I would especially like to highlight are the animators. We heard that the hotel was coming to the end of the season, yet the animation team still made a real effort to entertain both the children and the adults during the last week. They even held the aqua fitness sessions when there were only two participants, which was amazing. Perhaps the only negative point I could mention is that their equipment felt a bit limited for example, they didn’t have small prizes or toys to give to the children. Also, Thomas, the receptionist, was simply outstanding, as was the entire hotel staff. I will definitely come back!

I am already here. It is a good 3 stars hotel with lovely staff. Room is clean, everyday they clean it. There are two big pools with clear water. Also the lifeguard is there who look after the kids. The receptionits are very helpfull. In front of the hotel is a supermarket- not expensive. All the sunbeds are working. The staff is lovely!!! They always smile, talk, happy to help. They serve different coctails and drinks. They treat us like special quests. The restaurant is nice and clean, waitress look after the guests. This hotel is locate close to the beach in a quite area. Perfect for couples and families. As is standard of 3 stars there is no the hairdryer so if you need take it with you. I gave the advice to the manager about adding the pancakes for breakfast for kids. The chefs do their best of different dishes. Always fresh fruits and snacks for kids. I really recommend this hotel.

Came with my mum and friend. We had a one bedroom apartment and it worked great for us. We went AI - the food was great, plenty of choice and very tasty (it is far better than some 4 star AI I have been to). The hotel is in a great location 3 minutes to the beach. What made this place for us were the staff- a big shout out to Thomas on reception. A big shout out to Catalin, Sotos, Niyazi and Shohag- they always greeted us with a smile and were just great. I would highly recommend this place.

Great friendly staff , good choice of food and drink. Very clean apartments and pool areas. Would definitely recommend only 5 minutes from the beaches. A huge thanks to the wonderful bar staff and Thomas on the night reception , all the dining room staff.

Nice October Half Term Experience with Jet2Holidays The transfer from the airport was smooth — the bus dropped us right at the hotel entrance after about an hour’s journey. The weather was fantastic for October: around 25°C and sunny every day. There’s a small beach just a 5-minute walk from the hotel, with clean water and a gentle, shallow entry that’s perfect for kids. It’s a bit rocky in places, but you don’t really need water shoes. The hotel itself is quite large and well-organised, clearly experienced with guests. Staff were very friendly and always helpful. There are a couple of swimming pools suitable for all ages. We went for the all-inclusive package — the food was good with plenty of choice. Same for the drinks. The soft drinks, beer and wine were included. If you wanted some cocktails or frappes you had to pay extra. The rooms were spacious and tidy. For a 3-star hotel, it offered a really good experience. Yes, it’s a bit dated, and I didn’t particularly like the smell of the towels or sheets, but everything was clean. Overall, a good experience and great value for the price. I would happily return.

We are just travelling home from an 11 night stay at Papantonia. We have a 13 year old and an 8 year old. It was the first time we have been all inclusive for a long time. We arrived late at night and were welcomed with some snacks in our fridge as we had missed the all inclusive. The rooms were a great size. A large sofa bed for our 13 year old and a small camp style bed for our youngest. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied. Pool area is lovely, staff all very nice and we were impressed with the selection of food in the all inclusive. Great location, lovely 20 minute walk to protarus. We will definitely be back. You need to remember this is a 3 star hotel not 4star! Great location in Pernera and less than 5 minutes walk to sea and boardwalk that runs along coast to Protaras. Its a 15 to 20 minute walk into town. Cab is about €9 to €12 but there are buses too. Arrived late at night to find apples, sandwiches and water in the room which was a welcoming touch. Rooms very clean but could do with refurb. We had studio rooms so got kitchenette, lounge area as well as a separate bedroom and bathroom. Good sized rooms. Bring extention lead as only 1 plug in the bedroom  although there are more in the lounge and kitchen. Restaurant is fine. Food good but repetitive. Breakfast usual array of cereal, fruit, breads and rolls, bacon, frankfurter sausages, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and boiled, fried, scrambled eggs and omelettes. Tea and coffee and fruit juices. Lunch good Selection including great salads, chicken, chips and different meat selection daily, fruits and cake. Chicken available at every meal. Dinner usual things like salad, chicken, sometimes a roasted joint of gammon. Also stews such as beef or chicken. Pork chops and runs frequently available and the usual chips, boiled, roasted and veg. Had hoisin ribs one night that were delicious as part of chinese night on Fridays. Snack bar has different selections but always includes chips and nuggets. If you miss breakfast in the morning the snack bar is on from 10.45 to 11.45 has toasted sandwiches on some days and mini burgers and hotdogs in the afternoon. Pizza available on both morning and afternoon snack times. Drinks are fine. Good Selection of alcohol. Cocktails available for a fee. However no glasses available in the evening so its plastic cups all the time. Free icecream tubs available from the bar. Free cold water. Iced water available at the life guard station too which is colder than that from the restaurant. Could do with keeping tea and coffee machines on all day as turned off in between breakfast, lunch and dinner which would take pressure off bar staff. All Staff are great. Entertainment is lacking (lots of guests saying this). They use an agency of staff apparently. Water aerobics and water polo, football, pool, and quizzes but no music round pool all day and no pool games which would get everyone involved. Late checkout available till 6pm but €55 and not guaranteed. Overall however would return!
