Hotel Torbräu in Munchen

The other staff members were all very nice, but do be aware of an older, short-haired Caucasian woman in the restaurant. She clearly discriminates against Asians. She has a completely different demeanor towards white people versus people of color; she's overly attentive to white guests but very cold towards those of Asian descent. Of course, perhaps she's had some unfortunate experiences that have led to her biases. I hope she's doing well.

I had high expectations based on the high ratings. When I checked in, I felt the receptionist, a white man at the front desk, was polite but a bit cold. The room I was assigned faced the Handshake Building across the street. I politely requested a change and was given a top-floor room. It was not bad, but the room was small overall because it was in a historic building in a central area. The hotel is conveniently located, and the breakfast was elegant, but it was all cold.

Service: The young man was super helpful, but the overweight guy was less than satisfactory. Environment: I loved it; not luxurious, but cozy.

Excellent hotel and location in Munich old town. Convenient to tour locations and S-Bahn. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. Recommend highly.

Best 4 stars hotel in Munich pedestrian area

The Hotel Torbräu is a perfect location to explore Altstadt Munich, many shops, restaurants, and popular sites steps away. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I found the hotel clean and we'll kept and the room modern and spotless. The shower, though small, was particularly nice... great water pressure and as hot as you'd like. A welcome pleasure to melt away a day/night of travel.

Breakfast was good, with good strong coffee and tasty breakfast sausage, as you would expect in Munich. The dining room was sunny and comfortable, the balcony even better, with views of church steeples and chimes of the bells. A nice way to start the day.

My only detractor was some room to room noise. Fortunately I didn't have loud neighbors, but normal conversation barely sounded like the was a wall there.

I would definitely stay here again. The price, comfort, and location are a winning combo, at least for the room I had. I'd have ear plugs on hand, just in case.
