Wanted to give a special thank you to Sofia and Gogone at our hotel. Sofia was always pleasant and friendly and a joy to be around. Gogone at the front desk went out of her way to help us when my husband needed help. Both ladies have wonderful English and German language skills. They are a true asset to this lovely hotel

We stayed at the Fortezza Hotel in early September. We were looking forward to going as we had read some brilliant reviews. We were not disappointed. We arrived late evening and was quickly checked in and shown to our room. We did upgrade to a superior room for 10 euros a night as we wanted to be in a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. We had been booked into a standard room with EasyJet which would have been at the front of the hotel without a balcony. The staff were really friendly and helpful at the front desk if you needed them. The pool area was small but you could always get a sunbed. Half of the pool area had shade which suited some guest but we always manage to find a sunny spot. Pool towels were provided. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of choice for everyone. The main beach was a 20 minute walk. It was a huge beach with plenty of sunbeds and beach bars. There was another small beach about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. It didn't have sunbeds but was lovely to walk too and we took towels down to lay on. The hotel was situated in the centre of the old town which was amazing. 2 minutes walk to amazing restaurants down little cobbled streets Also a 5 minute walk to the harbour with wonderful restaurants. There was so many restaurants you would need to stay for a year to visit them all. We will definitely be returning as there is so much more to see and do. Definitely stay at this hotel you won't be disappointed. A big thankyou to all the staff at the Fortezza hotel.

Fantastic hotel in a great location,all the staff were terrific. Definitely
recommended.My only criticism would be the bathroom in my room,poorly fitted shower head,and when you had a shower then water came back up through the drain in floor

This was our fourth visit to the Fortezza. We were given a friendly welcome and allocated our requested room. We were also able to borrow a kettle from the reception and get pool towels. The rooms are a little on the small size, but who goes on holiday to sit in the room. They have a handy fridge, good air conditioning and a decent sized wardrobe. The superior rooms also have a balcony, we like the ones overlooking the street as we get shade late in the afternoon to sit and have a drink. The beds are also very comfy and we slept really well causing us to miss breakfast on quite a few days. There is a handy supermarket over the road selling most things you would require including chilled beer, wine and soft drinks. The breakfasts are good, but do not change, and have sufficient to fill you up for the day. As mentioned, if you do miss breakfast, the pool snack bar opens at 12 to 4pm. Here you can get bacon and eggs which we did on several days. The other snacks we had here were also good. The pool area is a big bonus in the old town area. There are sufficient sun beds and we never had trouble getting a bed or somewhere to sit. The pool was not too cold and a decent depth to swim. While we were here the temp was about 30 degrees, the pool area was a sun trap and it did get very warm, so the pool was great to cool off. The hotel is situated right on the edge of the old town and just around the corner from endless restaurants, bars and shops. The nearest being literally across the road. Highly recommended, we will be back next September !

We enjoyed our few nights here. The service was exceptional.Ina kept our room beautifully and everyone at the desk was friendly and helpful. Special recognition to our evening host, Joanna. She even recognized us as we came and went.

From the our arrival to leaving the staff were amazing.The morning receptionist (sorry forgot your name) To the fabulous Effi who served at breakfast and served food and drinks to our sun beds at the pool with a smile and a chat Every great thing mentioned in reviews was correct and I include the fact the poolside food is fab,plenty and not overpriced.See my photos. Location is ideal for the little streets in the old town but not as convenient for the beach in the heat with walking problems. (We took a taxi) Not one fault could I find in the hotel But lots that exceed my expectations of a 3 star. Including the towels provided at the pool. Waitress service with drinks/ food too. Free WiFi & Aircon Would recommend this hotel every time

What an absolute gem. There is nothing bad about this place. Centrally located in the old town, an abundance of restaurants and shops at your fingertips. Overlooking the fortress. Walking distance to harbour and beach. Hotel staff friendly and super helpful, spotlessly clean. Fabulous pool and plentiful breakfast. Would recommend to everyone!

This is a fantastic hotel right on the edge of the old town and within spitting distance of the Fortezza. The pool has a fairly small area around it and I can imagine during the height of summer it gets a bit more difficult to find a sun lounger in the sun but it wasn't a problem mid July.

It is a very nice and stylish hotel, very comfortable and relaxing too. Our stay started as a disappointment with the room we have got and the reception clerk that didn’t show any care about the situation. Though, the problem was quickly solved the next day with a kind help of a wonderful lady - Chrisoula, who literally saved our stay and made it so much more satisfying. The hotel itself is a very cozy place. Breakfast was simple but tasty and filling. Lots of sitting areas around the pool and in the lobby makes the hotel feel welcoming and inviting. The location is very convenient too. It is located right in the old part of the city, not too far from the port and close to many points of interest. Huge amount of excellent restaurants are right around the place. Would definitely recommend staying there if you are visiting Crete.
