Koni Village Hotel in Stalis

Beds are better this year no bad back hotel very tidy clean the only big concern the FOOD not much choices food always stoned cold every meal breakfast dinner and tea looks like a new shef can't cook a egg not done in the middle not good for customers come every year am afraid this year 2 stars

I’m not going to waste my time! Absolutely awful! Don’t bother! It’s as simple as that tbh, food is just crap! It should definitely be a 2 star! The drinks are dreadful! The sandwich on arrival in the fridge was so bad it was laughable! Will Never go back

This AI hotel Koni Village in Stalis Crete, was the worst experience of the whole of our travels and I am now 80 years old and holiday 2-3 times a year. They were advised we were disabled and when we arrived there was an approx 200 meter 45 - 50 degree angle hill that we had ro push our cases up to reception. Our room, then another 50 meters even steeper. We had booked mobility scooters for the next day but not allowed to charge them unless they stayed downstairs (which we couldn't manage). Staff very unhelpful and at times rude and obstructive. Food was apalling and we met lots of other guests eating out in the town. Wouldn't let us pay to extend our room to wait for transfer at 7pm even though no one else was booked in there before we left. The list is endless, ants in the bed, no available tables at times for meals, dried up sandwiches as the AI snacks through the day (when they eventually came). The only saving grace was our housekeeper who was lovely ond very helpful and she insisted on taking our cases to the luggage room for us when we left. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to put a review on here but really felt the need to warn other travellers that the Koni Village Hotel is not suitable for disabled people at the very least and friends of ours who had children complained there was no appropriate food for them or facilities

We’re just about to leave after the most beautiful 10-day holiday in Crete, and we have thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it. The only thing that let our holiday down—just slightly—was this hotel. When we arrived at 1am, we were told there was no record of our booking. After some confusion and rather abrupt communication with reception, we were eventually shown to our room. Understandably, our first impressions weren’t great after that experience. The rooms themselves are very basic. For us, that’s fine—we really only needed a clean bed to sleep in and a bathroom to wash in. However, our room felt quite dated, and the bathroom in particular had visible mould. It didn’t feel unclean, but definitely in need of renovation. I’ve noticed other reviewers mentioning refurbished rooms; we stayed in room 907, so perhaps they haven’t yet updated this block. On the plus side, the pool area is lovely. No early-morning battles for sunbeds, no need to throw towels down at dawn—such a refreshing change! The pool itself was clean, not overcrowded, and a really nice place to spend time. The biggest disappointment for us, unfortunately, was the food. We really tried with the buffet, but it was limited, repetitive, and poor quality. We ended up eating out on a few excursion days, and for our last meals chose a beachfront restaurant—where even locals commented on the low quality of food served at Koni. It’s such a shame, because this hotel could be fantastic. At the moment though, it just doesn’t seem equipped to handle all-inclusive or the volume of guests staying here. We would return to Crete in a heartbeat, but sadly we wouldn’t choose this hotel again.
