Cozy hotel with green territory. Attentive staff and quality service. Good food and pleasant rooms. International team staff arranges daily sports and evening events. Good location in the resort of Stalida, to the centre of Malia with its many shops, cafes and restaurants are also within walking distance. During dinner, guests must follow a dress code. Food was the biggest disappointment. For vegetarians, the choice was poor – salads often came with surprise ham or fish, and protein was scarce. Desserts and breakfast pastries tasted cheap and artificial, juices were basically liquid candy, and croissants only made sense if you’ve never actually had a croissant. The only good dinner we had was at La Oliva, the à la carte option. To add to the chaos, the restaurants and bars sit right next to each other, blasting different music at the same time – imagine trying to enjoy your meal while stuck between two competing DJs. The gym lacked mats and weights, the “welcome fruit plate” never appeared, and the free spa massage for new guests was something we only learned about by accident. At the pool, sunbeds were “reserved” with towels already in the morning while their owners were still at breakfast, and the hotel didn’t enforce its own rules. The kids’ pool had a great shaded spot, but most of the water attractions didn’t work, and for some reason the water there was the coldest in the entire resort.
On the bright side, the staff were incredibly kind and always smiling (even though they seemed to work from sunrise to sunset), the sea in front of the hotel was beautifully clean and the watermelon was consistently sweet and delicious.
But here’s the kicker: the price. This place is marketed and priced like a 5-star resort, but in reality it’s closer to a 3-star with an attitude. If the stay had cost half as much, I’d chalk it up as “you get what you pay for.” But at these rates, the glossy 5-star label feels more like a punchline than a promise.
