Vasia Ormos Hotel in Agios Nikolaos

Beautiful grounds. Very quiet and peaceful. Good breakfast and clean rooms. However no atmosphere whatsoever. Evening meal terrible and expensive. No music or entertainment in evening. Says bus stop outside but no buses directly into Agios Nic. Small beach but not nice for swimming. Got the impression hotel was nearer to the town but too far to walk for older people. Most of the staff lovely but some not at all helpful. Would not return. Shame because it is a lovely spot.

We stayed here following a 4 star holiday in Chania last year. Although the communal areas of the hotel are lovely, the pool areas and rooms need updating badly. We were given double rooms in the detached block which were cleaned with fresh towels daily. The storage was poor so we lived out of our cases and were woken through the night by loud air con fans (external not ours) and I heard others complaining of the same issues. Take care when booking as we booked and paid for superior rooms which we did not get (apparently due to an EasyJet error but we spoke with another couple who had the same issue and had booked with another agent) and nothing was done by the hotel to rectify. Breakfast was good and bar and restaurant staff efficient and friendly. The pool bar closes at 6pm and music goes off and shutters down which is a shame when people are enjoying an early drink. We did not have an evening meal as there was no atmosphere and there is so much on offer within a short walk. “Private” beach was Ok but there is a much nicer beach 10 mins down the road where you can hire sunbeds and dip in the sea. The location is good (about 20 mins walk to town and €8 in a taxi) with bus stop outside. Overall, could be much better but clean, convenient and we still had a great holiday.

Rooms were spotless and very comfortable, with a great sea view from the spacious balcony. However, we had to move rooms as our first room (205) was right next to an extremely noisy extractor on the outside wall, which was on throughout the night and prevented us from sleeping. Good choice for breakfast but evening buffet was disappointing. Pool areas were well laid out with comfortable sunbeds. However, the steps to the pool in the larger pool area, were dangerous. They were very loose, moved and squeaked loudly when stepping on them and underneath the handles, at the top of the steps, the metal on both sides was split. Bar prices were very expensive.

The food was a let down mostly cold and not to a good standard - husband had food poisoning! Do not recommend eating at this hotel
