Danaos Hotel, Chania Town1 / 12

Chania Town, Akti Papanikoli 23 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
What truly stands out is the warm, family-run atmosphere—the staff were consistently described as friendly, helpful, and attentive, assisting with tips for exploring Chania, arranging bike or car rentals, and welcoming guests like old friends
During my recent stay at Hotel Danaos, I was charmed by its perfect beachfront location—just steps from Nea Chora Beach, and within a leisurely 15‑minute walk along the sea to Chania’s historic Venetian harbour and downtown
I got room 34 seaside with balcony. The room is very beautiful and have a really nice bathroom. Location is great with beach close and restaurants all the way to Chania harbour
In particular, guests praised the continental breakfast buffet—plentiful options like yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal and juices served in a bright seaside room
The hotel offers great value for money with clean, well‑equipped rooms (air conditioning, mini‑fridge, TV, Wi‑Fi) and daily housekeeping
The stunning sea views from the balconies were the ideal backdrop to sip morning coffee or unwind at sunset

Chania Town, Anagnostou Mantaka 72 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Since our next destination was Santorini by boat from Crete, which could only depart from Heraklion port, we opted to take a boat from Athens to Chania first, and then a bus from Chania to Heraklion
The facilities were quite good, and any minor issues we raised were quickly resolved. The front desk staff were also very helpful in providing information about various places in the surrounding area
Crete has two main cities: Heraklion, the cradle of Western civilization, and Chania (also known as Chania), a city repeatedly invaded by other empires
Considering we'd be traveling by bus for the next two days, we chose this hotel close to the Chania Bus Station, less than 400 meters away
They have very friendly staff. Very clean and very relaxing place 😌 you can talk with them and take more suggestions to visit. Highly recommended.
Comfy rooms with no noise. Staff very friendly and helpful! Great location! 5 mins walk from coach station and 10 from the old town,

Chania Town, 23 Tzanakaki Street (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Beautiful hotel in the city center, walking distance to the old town which is filled with restaurants and shopping spots, across the street from an amazing coffee shop, kind staff, clean and felt safe! Around 10 parking spots in the underground lot first come first serve otherwise parking free on hotel street ! Breakfast had good variety of options! Would recommend !
Located centrally, this hotel is stunning. Parking can be a bit tricky if you are used to North American style car garages, but nothing we couldn’t deal with. Breakfast was incredible as well.
The location is quite convenient, fairly close to both the city center and the beach
- Slow WiFi - Parking: limited spots in their parking lot, street parking was difficult and confusing, we came back to 4 parking tickets on our windshield Positives: + Hotel is beautiful and centrally located + Excellent free breakfast + Staff is friendly and helpful + Rooms are clean and pretty + Rooms had small private balconies
The hotel has a parking area, but it’s quite small and often full, so we had to look for street parking instead, which wasn’t easy to find – and that was already in mid-September, so I can only imagine how hard it must be during high season
The breakfast was so much more than the usual self service. Fresh, plentiful, delicious, perfectly staffed, nothing I would change. The room was generous, toiletries exceptional, again, I’d change nothing

Captain Vasilis Hotel, Chania Town1 / 12High rating

Chania Town, Sali Helidonaki 12 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
That is not to say that the rooms are dated, on the contrary, there is the latest air conditioning units, Nespresso coffee machines, a small fridge, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers and wonderful modern showers …
We absolutely loved our stay at Captain Vasilis Hotel in Chania Old Town! The room with a balcony was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had a stunning view of the harbor
Very authentic small hotel inside the old town and on a quiet street. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The owner Vasilis was friendly and kind Person. Breafkast made fresh every morning from local products
But one standout is just how beautiful the hotel is and where it is located. You are front and center over the water and staying in the hotel takes you back in time
On our last day, when we unfortunately had food poisoning, she went above and beyond by bringing us a late breakfast and helping us find nearby pharmacies. Her kindness and genuine care meant so much to us
Beautiful views and close to everything but set back enough (although depending on the wind you’ll hear the late-night bars across the harbour). Vasilis is very laid back and gave us some good recs

Chania Town, 114 Selinou Street (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Our room was very comfortable indeed and had a marvellous balcony overlooking the beach (the balcony had no awning or sun umbrella but the very helpful staff put up a temporary sun umbrella so so we could get more use out of our balcony even when the sun was shining directly on it but a more permanent awning would be useful)
This hotel was a little above our normal budget but well worth it - we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel (which is on seafront in Nea Chora) is about a twenty minute walk from the old town and the Venetian port
Location perfect , but it’s the staff that work here who make it , nothing is too much trouble , they work tirelessly to keep everyone happy and the hotel, apartments and outside areas are kept so clean and tidy
The hotel is in the very pleasant Nea Chora district of Chania which has excellent restaurants as well as some very good bakeries and places that serve good quality souvlaki and gyros
The new archeological museum on the other side of town has a remarkable collection of antiquities, and its café terrace has wonderful views over the bay and towards the Venetian port
There’s also a bus stop a few hundred metres from the hotel that has quite frequent buses that go to the outskirts of the old town and to many other locations

Chania Town, Betolo 1 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Elia Bettolo Hotel is in an ideal location in the Old Town of Chania. It's walking distance from the bus station, Maritime Museum, the Old Lighthouse, and tons of restaurants
Mind you it’s not a far walk, but we came in by bus from Heraklion and it took us a bit to find the hotel and we had a few suitcases to lug with us. Thankfully the wheels did not fall off😂
great location, amazing view definitely worth the money! room was spacious and clean. breakfast spread was lovely and delicious.
I would highly recommend everyone who comes to Chania stays in Elia Hotel. it’s located at the center of the old town and close to everything. The room is spacious, nice and clean
Great hotel for a “few days” stay. Small rooms in the center of the Old Town, with nice breakfast, very friendly staff and 100% clean
Great location in the city center, spotless rooms with daily cleaning, and exceptionally friendly staff. Highly recommended!

A hotel right in the centre of everything, yet the location is rather quiet. Very clean hotel and very accommodating staff. A definite recommendation.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful The breakfast was quite tasty and fresh The price also I find quite cheap for 5 nights that we stayed Overall very nice hotel, with nice rooms and location Would recommend
The room also had a fridge/safe Our shower was v powerful and toiletries are provided along with slippers and hairdryer. If I was to return to Chania I would definitely stay in this hotel again
The hotel maintains its Cretan charm and pride with modern and well-maintained amenities and excellent service from all the staff. I look forward to my return!
1) This is very nice and new hotel. Bathroom shower, everything is perfect. 3) if I could rate the whole hotel, will give 6 stars
Nice staff, great breakfast which you can enjoy outside and nice confortable rooms

Chania Town, Zambeliou Street (in the centre) 🧭 Map
We Loved this hotel! The owner was very nice and Aria was so fantastic to give us advice on beaches, and assure us that the drive was easy! Thank you, Aria! The hotel is SO comfortable with excellent AC and is located on the cutest street / pathway in Chania
We couldn’t have dreamed of a better location and view from our balcony! This is close to many restaurants and shops. Yannis at the reception desk was very welcoming and helpful
Other than that though, I would recommend staying here - you come out of the hotel right into the hustle and bustle (and an amazing restaurant on the doorstep!) but once you’re in the hotel, you have peace and also aircon!
Great stay We had a great stay at Nostos Hotel. Very central location close to several shops and the harbour, clean rooms, and the owners were very kind.
If you are expecting something perfect and new do not stay here. If you’d like something authentic, close to everything in the Old Port and with a breathtaking view of the lighthouse and harbor, this is your place
My room was perfect for just me, the only thing to mention is the bed is up on a separate floor and there are some rather steep steps to get up to it. If mobility is an issue, this might not be for you

Malmo Historic Hotel is located in old town Chania. We had a quick check in upon arrival, and our room was very clean, spacious with high ceiling, and large jacuzzi tub
Beautiful thoughtful renovation of a very old building. For design and architecture fans. From the linens to the woodwork every detail done with finesse
When we enter the building we felt we were in a place we loved to be. It was made in Venetian period in Crete with character that tells an ongoing story from five centuries ago. It is in the Venetian Neighborhood
From the breakfast, to the room, to the kind staff, everything about this stay was perfect. Very walkable to everywhere in chania and room was very large for a central location
Look We absolutely loved this boutique hotel! The service was amazing, the design stunning, and the Parisian-style atmosphere made it so special. It’s close to everything yet quiet and relaxing – a perfect stay!
It was converted to a library in 1928 by Antonio Malmo. After all the alterations in its interior and usage, it has been renovated in a way that integrates and highlights its unique identity in the greater area

The room with the huge Jacuzzi is the best! The stuff is very kind and helpful ( thank you Georgina and Marionela for everything! You're the best!), the hotel is in the most perfect location 5 minutes from everthing (Venetian port, old city, beach etc) and have a parking lot which is very rare in the city centre, also offering free bikes, umbrellas, beach towels
We had an absolutely lovely stay at Balance Hotel in Chania. Everything was perfectly clean and tidy, the rooms were cleaned every day and the whole place felt very well taken care of
I still miss those delicious Dakos :) One day we went to Samaria Gorge early in the morning and Georgia prepared a huge lunch box for us which was so nice and friendly - thank you so much again :) The location of the Balance hotel is perfect, 5 min away from the beach and 5 min away from the old town
What truly made our stay special were the people. The staff were so kind and genuinely caring, always ready to help with a smile. On the day of our departure, we had to leave at 4 a
We recently stayed at Balance Hotel on our trip to Chania, Crete for 5 days and were amazed with all aspects that this hotel had to offer. The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and informative
Within 10m on foot from the city center which made it easy for a visit. It's actually a great idea not to have a hotel in the old town since it's not possible to park

This is a beautiful little hotel in the historic center of Chania, and I would definitely stay here again. The location is great, and my room was spacious and beautifully maintained
This is in a busy part of the old town, so take that into consideration if you are looking for something really quiet - it is not. The cafe next door had 3 great live music gigs in a row, they would stop at 11
The room we got was nice with a comfy bed with perhaps too many pillows. 😂 Room was a bit dated, but includes all you need: iron, coffee machine, hairdryer, etc. Service was excellent throughout
Really nice hotel, the location is amazing and the view from the balcony right into old town, you will feel the jealousy of bystanders as you sip your raki / coffee from the balcony
AMAZING location!!! Walking distance to everything. Friendly staff, easy check in and clean rooms. Location was 10/10 would highly recommend! Great value for the money.
Fantastic hotel, owners and staff in a superb location for exploring the old town. Everyone was very hospitable and generous which was deeply appreciated

The view from our windows over the curving harbour of Chania was outstanding! Many photos were taken of the water and shore sites and activities of this beautiful scene! Georgio and Teresa were wonderful hosts
Had a top floor room with a view to die for, close to the harbour quite rustic with modern bathroom. Booking direct was easy with assistance / advice on parking and an early check in, rapid response to a few emails
This hotel was absolutely amazing! George gave us great recommendations and was always ready to help us out. The hotel location is perfect, situated in Old Town Chania, walkable at night, clean room, and very safe
George was super helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. He provided many recommendations for breakfast and dinner. He also arranged our taxi to airport. He made the time in Chania very enjoyable
Georgio helped us up to the top floor with our heavy luggage and then spent quite a bit of time describing best restaurants for various meals and times day. He is quite proud of Chania and Helena Hotel
Warned prior that there was no lift but had assistance with bags etc. Service wise, for our stay of a couple of nights George was a mine of information and assistance, very much appreciated

Clean comfortable and good central location. Is fairly noisy late night due to being above bars and restaurants. Good breakfast.
Although the place is located in the very center of the Old Town and in the evening you can hear music coming from the sublime bars, it is an ideal location to both visit Chania and get to further places
Breakfast served in the main hotel about 100 meters away was sufficient and the staff was able to take care of every issue, from a faulty tap to arranging a car rental from one day to the next
An amazing team They were so friendly, helpful and hospitable. We were very happy to staying there. I hope we will see you soon. Thank you so much to all your team ❤️

Clean rooms, and the view is heavily underrated of the port. We had a centrally located room overlooking the port. Each morning I could watch the sunrise, drink my tea and stretch and exercise in the peace and quiet
The bed is very comfortable and with the doors open at night, the sound of the waves lapping in the harbour create a great ambiance. A simple breakfast is available at €12 if you want it
We have a balcony room with stunning views of the Venetian harbour. While the room and the bathroom are small, they are very clean and functional
I felt like royalty from my balcony seeing most of the people walking by looking up at me and smiling in what felt like envy
We thoroughly recommend Lucia Hotel for a lovely romantic and historic experience! Try the Taman restaurant next door too!
The hotel is quite old-fashioned, and that shows in the rooms and overall decor. The room was outdated, the balcony was very small, and the bathroom was also quite cramped

I recommend the elia palatino hotel. Great location in the centre, great room and friendly service.
Absolutely stunning views! The town itself is very walkable and the Elia sits from and center directly on the Chania Harbor! If you were looking at this hotel, don’t second-guess it and just book it you won’t regret it!
This property was perfectly located in old Chenia town, close to the harbor. The staff were very friendly. Elizabeth with the breakfast buffet, was especially warm and helpful with travel tips and suggestions
The room itself was nicely appointed and the balcony views of the harbor were beautiful. My only complaint is that we went to use the wine glasses and discovered they were dirty and unwashed
All of the staff were very nice and helpful throughout my stay! I had a one bedroom king suite (3rd floor, so yes there are some stairs!) with a private balcony overlooking the harbor
Amazing Location & Great Value We really enjoyed our stay in the suite at Elia Palatino. Reception is in a sister hotel a couple doors down and it is staffed 24 hours which was great

I enjoyed staying here for two weeks. I booked using a booking service and it is also good to contact them directly as you may get a better rate. It is family owned and Nikos is very friendly and helpful
We had an amazing stay here! The hotel is absolutely beautiful - great location at the center of the Chania and therefore close to all major sites, restaurants, shops and the local bus terminal for trips
The hotel is very centrally located and there is a small elevator to move luggage upstairs
A big plus was the balcony to relax, read and eat with a view on a beautiful neighboring restaurant. The bathroom looks nice, is clean and offers nice amenities like toiletries, body lotion and local olive oil soap
What’s also a big plus is a fridge and even plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery so that we could organize our own breakfast and eat on the balcony. And all that for a great price for the value you get

First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to one of the owners, Geir, for answering our 1am arrival call upon missing a connection and being 10 hours late
You can also take about a 10 min walk to Old Chania, shops, or 15 min to the city center. One may also take a bus nearby, if more beach exploration is desired
The rooms are clean, cozy, and well-kept, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hospitality is truly warm and welcoming – the staff are always ready to help with tips, directions, or just a friendly smile
Thank you for making our night! In fact the entirety of staff was extremely helpful, extra nice and genuine. Many compliments to Maria, at reception (and everywhere else really), who always took care of us with a smile
Breakfast offers a good selection, and you can have eggs made-to-order. We usually had it in the pretty garden of the property. We had a great time, and would not hesitate to visit again
The views of Chania were spectacular, especially the beach with its wave sounds. Candia is at a perfect location - 2 minutes walk to Nea Chora Beach, the promenade and restaurants

What made my stay especially memorable were the wonderful hosts. Alexandra and another gentleman (I believe his name was Andreas?) were incredibly warm, accommodating, and genuinely kind
La Maison Ottomane is truly a hidden gem in Chania’s Old Town. The location is perfect—quiet and peaceful, yet just a short walk to the Venetian harbor and all the restaurants and shops
From the moment I arrived, they made me feel so welcome and at home. The breakfast each morning was homemade and freshly cooked, which was such a treat. Everything was delicious and thoughtfully prepared
Tucked away in a quiet corner, La Maison Ottomane provided unexpected serenity and charm with great convenience to tourist attractions, bars, restaurants, shopping, and the waterfront
Very unique ambient historic hotel in the center of the old port of Chania. We will return for sure ....

A Bright Example of Greek Hospitality – Simply the Best! We apologize for the late review (we stayed in May), but we simply had to take the time to communicate to the world that Roula, the owner, and her entire team at Deluxe Hotel deserve every bit of recognition and acknowledgement for their outstanding hard work and hospitality
Every single staff member, from reception to housekeeping, was a bright example of what Greek hospitality is all about. Every interaction and request was met with genuine professionalism and friendliness
The experience of having the local Saturday market right outside our door was a lovely bonus, giving us a great opportunity to soak up the local hustle and bustle and feel a genuine cultural connection right on our doorstep
The cleaning lady did a great job, came back on the second day to find everything in place, she even hanged up a few clothes which we had left on the bed! Also, super sweet lady at the reception, always so helpful and kind
Truly, anything we asked for was never an issue. The location is second to none -it's absolutely perfect. We were near everything we could possibly need, yet completely shielded from any unwanted noise
