Room - spacious and comfy

Atrion Hotel was excellent. Beautiful hotel with great access to town. The staff was also super helpful with arranging transport for excursions and answering any questions.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast great, room clean and comfy with balcony sea view. Perfect location to explore Heraklion. Highly recommended.
On our first breakfast day, everything went well. However, on the second day, a front desk staff member named Mary Chalday approached me, telling me that my attire was inappropriate. I was wearing a short dress with my swimsuit underneath, which was slightly visible. According to her, this was against the hotel rules, though I hadn’t seen any dress code posted, and no one mentioned anything to me the previous day (and I was dressing EXACTLY THE SAME). While this may be a hotel policy, it felt more like her personal opinion.
Coming from America, I didn’t expect people here in Europe to be so old-fashioned. It seems she’s simply not accustomed to seeing bare legs.
I feel discriminated against.
Such a nice day to start a vacation day.
**“The hotel is in good condition and has a great location, and it is possible to walk to some places. However, it lacks parking, and the island’s public transportation is not very reliable. There is also no Uber service available. Every night, we spent hours trying to find a parking spot on the street, which is full of abandoned cars, or paying for public parking at €10 or more per night. The hotel does nothing to take responsibility or help with this situation.
Additionally, they seem to have a designated taxi driver—a man in a Mercedes who shows up every day and seems very friendly with the front desk staff. This dynamic gave me a bad impression, so I didn’t bother asking for a taxi.
If you plan to visit Crete, I highly recommend renting a car—it’s essential for enjoying your vacation on the island. Make sure to find a hotel that offers parking. Don’t make the mistake I did of staying in the city center, where abandoned cars crowd every corner.
