Sentido Kyknos Beach Adults Only in Malia

Beautiful resort in a beautiful location, however, few things are missing to give it a full score.

Pros. The hotel offers great views at the mountains on one side and the open sea on the other. It has its own sun beds on the beach for its guest, and there is usually no problem to find a spot there. Other than the beach, the large pool is also a great place to chill (I think it was a good idea to remove the diving boards one can still see at some pictures). The resort is very calm and peaceful. Lots of trees, bushes and plants all around, one can even encounter many secluded places when walking through the resort. No loud music playing long to the night. I suppose the hotel attracts a less vocal clientele compared to the groups hitting the clubs in Malia.

Cons. There are a few things that prevented us from fully enjoying our stay there. The biggest issue we had was with the insect in our room. There were ants from the start and on the third night, we had cockroaches crawling all over the place, even in the bed. After we started spraying the room and covered all the holes (like there was a fist-size hole above the shower door), the issue was resolved. I understand there are bugs and stuff outside which can get to the room sometimes but I believe the hotel should try to limit the chances by taking good care of the rooms. Another thing is that although there are enough sun beds for every guest, unfortunately many choose to block the best located ones for themselves by sprinting each morning before breakfast, covering the sun beds with towels and using them much later. Even though this is mostly the cheeky guests' fault, I'd appreciate the hotel to prevent this from happening.

Misc. Nice beach. Sandy, very clean, actually not very crowded compared to the other beaches nearby. The sea is shallow, you can reach the bottom almost to the buoys. Most of the time there are waves because of the constant wind, which are kind of fun. In 2 of 7 days the water was calm and it was very pleasant and beautiful, ideal for snorkelling and chilling in the water. I didn't see any urchins, jellyfish etc, only a few cute little fish. Pool is also good but closes at 6pm already, longer opening hours and/or possibility for night swimming at least some of the days would be nice. Food is fine, although drinks are overpriced during dinner.

My husband and I spent a long time choosing a hotel and settled on this one. We didn't regret it at all. We were very happy with our vacation. I'll start with the pros: large territory, lots of space and air. There are swimming pools and restaurants on the hotel grounds. The hotel has a gorgeous beach - a wide coastline, excellent entry into the water, a sandy beach. Sun loungers and large umbrellas - everything is provided by the hotel. There is a lifeguard tower nearby. The sea has waves, it's not scary to swim, there are no currents. The bottom is not very interesting, there are no fish, but this is for an amateur. There are a lot of couples with children in the hotel, children's pools. Very friendly staff. Delicious breakfasts (but monotonous), very tasty dinners with beautiful presentation. We booked a bungalow with a terrace - you could read a book on a sun lounger or drink a glass of wine in the evening in complete privacy and in the fresh air. The hotel also had its cons, but they did not affect our impression: the hotel is not new. There are renovations, but they are tired. You shouldn't expect modern renovation in the rooms - most likely everything will be in the color and texture of the wood. It's a matter of taste... The rooms are not very clean, there are stains on the floor, streaks on the mirrors, unwashed curtains. Although daily cleaning of the rooms was normal, no complaints, linen and towels were changed. There is practically no door to the toilet - just nominally, a partition and, as a result, no soundproofing. Well, the cherry on the cake - there was no toilet brush. Well, due to the coronavirus, the bars were closed, there was no interaction. The restaurant had to be rebuilt and made a serving table and service, like in a cafe, instead of a buffet, which significantly increased the workload of the staff and the waiting time. There are cats walking around the restaurant, so if you are allergic, keep this in mind. I recommend the hotel. I think you will be satisfied if you do not have high expectations and demands. The service is at a good level, very friendly people at the reception. I hope to come here again or send my parents)

We loved our stay, the hotel is very quiet, the location is perfect. You can admire the sunset while you eat. The staff is very nice, especially the restaurant's chef ! I highly recommand !

Gently sloping beach ideal for families. Red flag occasionally on the beach due to wind/waves. Quiet family atmosphere. Little entertainment which is fine. Good food. Roast meat option nearly every night. Weekly barbecue.

Overall a great stay. The room was a bit small, no coffee service in the room. Booked the Superior Bungalow Sea View - we were pretty far back from the ocean. There were bungalows right along the beach area so not sure what the difference was. Otherwise the stay was great - excellent breakfast, staff was top notch.

We spent a week at Kernos Beach Hotel in Crete.
The hotel is nice and updated, spacious rooms and a really nice atmosphere.
The beach is spacious too, not too full with sunbeds.
The service is excellent, they are very friendly. Our airco was broken the first night, so to compensate us we got a bungalow with seaview.
