Cozy and comfy road dinner where you can try a selection of local foods as well as dishes inspired by other cuisines (like poke bowls)
The garlic bread steals the show - it's simply marvelous! The lamb stew and fish gratin hold their ground and the staff is always there the help if you cannot decide. Ah, the local lager is also order worthy
It feels cozy inside, the workers are polite and the fish and chips are absolutely delicious
These are easily the best for taste and portions around Iceland, and we are finishing up the our trip around the country (including the west fjords) soon. We also ordered hot drinks and those were tasty of course too!
The lamb soup — a local favorite — was small in portion but flavorful and comforting, clearly made with care. The burger, on the other hand, was underwhelming and could have used more seasoning and better presentation
Overall, Eldstó is worth a visit for its atmosphere and charm rather than the food alone. It’s a pleasant, artistic café with heart, even if the menu doesn’t fully match the beauty of its surroundings
I was a little worried because I thought it was someone's actual house but I was able to come and go as I pleased at all hours without fear of bothering anyone. It had the privacy of a hotel but the feeling of being home
wonderful place to stay, Super nice and friendly staff, very convenience, modern and warm design,
Lovely place!! Highly Recommended!!
I'm planning my next trip and I'm for sure staying here again!
Lovely and clean. Kitchen and bathroom in good condition. Bedrooms nice. Very good location. Would recommend.
Great place for a great price! However your stay will be very dependant on how noisy your neughbors are...
Peter did everything he could to help me, I got a last minute room with no problems after missing a connecting flight. Peter also offers a shuttle from the airport cheaper than a taxi. Room was clean, tidy and quiet
Best value for the money in Iceland
Nice place to sleep, just 4km from international Airport. Staff was very friendly and helpful
Great place for staying if your flights arrives late or leaves early
Friendly host and nice comfortable beds. Comes with all the amenities you would expect from a hotel suite (towels, soap, kitchen etc.)
Three towels provided is big plus
Stay was great! Bed was comfy, rooms very cozy. Located right in Akranes. Would definitely stay again if I come back.
Melur Guesthouse is not far from Leboskin café, Akrafjall and Akranes Lighthouse, and is on top of that the cheapest guesthouse in Akranes. Free breakfast and check-out at 12:00
The host, a typical Icelandic, is quite nice though i didn't talk much to him because I was exhausted after a long hike at Akrafjall
The outside is not flashy and teasing but the inside and the rooms are clean, nice and sober
It’s a kind of a normal hotel with all facilities. Rooms are good, clean. The lady receptionist present in the night schedule isn’t too friendly. Rest was all fine.
We had a great stay in this family run hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and we also enjoyed a simple 3 course dinner which we enjoyed
The girl (I do not know her name) who was in charge of the place was wonderfull. She helped us during all our stay and the plus was she speaks spanish. Thank you so much !
Cute place with lots of amenities. EV chargers and hot tub are nice bonuses. Views are pretty great too.
Please also note that the double economy room is quite cramped for two occupants and is more suitable for someone travelling solo; its double bed takes up most of the space and didn’t allow for much room for my boyfriend and I to move around without having to crawl over the bed
Hotel Kjarnalundur is located just eight minutes from downtown Akureyri and is located on the side of a mountain, which gives you a beautiful view of more mountains and the water below once you clear the dead spiders from your room window
They bent over backwards for us, had great recommendations, the best food we’ve had, and made us feel so at home. This place is a hidden gem and I hope many, many more people go and see them!
Arthur and Caroline were extremely welcoming and excellent hosts. If the weather had cooperated it would have been and excellent place to see the stars and perhaps the northern lights too.
There is no sitting room there so we met in the dining hall. I always opt for the pan fried cod when I travel domestically and this one was a bit of a disappointment. Served on top of a potato puree and rather bland
If you want to unplug from your busy life and reflect this is a wonderful place to do it. The Scenery is out of this world. The lodge offered a comfortable stay
I was travelling with some old friends and we stayed for two nights and had dinner there once. My bed was like out of HC Andersen fables, one mattress on top of another
We love the town and the place itself. Staff are so nice, they make sure that we know all the needed information before arriving that is very useful. Food are delicious and affordable. The room is very clean and warm.
Great historic hotel!
Loved this place! Great character and thoughtful decor made it special. Excellent location and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Immaculate throughout. Highly recommend!
Our favorite
This hotel was our favorite. The location was beautiful and the property was charming. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and staff super friendly
Great hotel, fabulous restaurant. Warm and comfortable and the restaurant was delicious!! Gorgeous dining room and food was next level. One of the best meals we had in Iceland
hotel building is very nice located in front of harbour in a small town. room is not big. bed is a bit soft. restaurant is reasonable.
Staff were lovely! Helpful, friendly, just a great spot all round
Such a nice place, and very cheap. We had a functional but large 8 people dorm for my family of 8, the common areas are so beautiful that you just want to stay and hang out. Washing machines available.
Wow what a place!!! Love it!!! Decors next level! Next horror film I will shoot here!! I m kidding:) A lot going on the lounge area! Absolutely gem of a place!!!
Amazing surrealistic place in the middle of nowhere! The cultural spirit and creativity are exploding in this place in magical Snafellsnes. Warmly welcoming, home-like feeling and down to earth approach / just brilliant!
One of the best campsites we visited in our tour around Iceland. There's a communal area with table games, a bar, a well fitted kitchen, two clean showers and toilets. 1500 isk per night and person with a campervan
Location's fine for a hostel!
Nice vibes in the common room. This part of Iceland is mercyless cold in winter! 🥶
Good thing I shared the hostel with only two others this night. Could afford a second blanket
[one of the best campsites I tried in Iceland. great common lounge area with board games, books, live music and bar. kitchen is very well equipped and quite comfortable. showers and wc clean and tidy
A really nice accomodation with comfortable and clean beds, nice rooms and good breakfast. The view is astonishing and there is even a private hot tub free to use right in front of our door
Absolutely everything about our stay at Stóru-Laugar was wonderful! We enjoyed chatting with our hosts and learning a bit about their farm life.
It's amazing here, the food is great here and the rooms are nicely decorated and there are 3 beds in the room and they are very comfy, there is a hot tub and it's out side , There is a little kitchen where you can make your own tea
This location was very quiet and the view was beautiful. The room was spacious and so clean. I was disappointed I could not spend another night and just take in the peacefulness of the surroundings.
We had a great time here! The staff are super friendly, easy check-in, nice clean rooms and private bathrooms, plus a hot tub and amazing sunset views! I wish there was a microwave but otherwise it was perfect.
Excellent place . Nice room clean and comfortable good size and the view from the hot baths is fantastic to sit .
Excellent breakfast as well. One of the best places we have stayed in Iceland
When we arrived I accidentally booked a day late but the receptionist immediately helped me fix it and even though we were like 4 hours early for check in they let us into our room! We booked a double room but got a free-of-charge upgrade
On my very first day, I bought a pizza without realizing there wasn’t actually an oven 😅
Instead of letting me feel awkward or disappointed, the person at reception immediately noticed and kindly showed me an alternative way to sort it out
This place is amazing, book here if you're going to Reykjavik
It was better than we expected, friendly staff, clean amenities, spacious room, kitchen was provided as well, knowing everything is so expensive in Iceland, we can’t avoid to prepare our own food while getting ingredients from supermarket nearby
Stayed here for 5 days during my recent to Iceland. Its very chic and comfy! Our room had a great view of the church! The staff are super friendly and helpful! Its affordable and quiet for a hostel
That small, thoughtful moment really stood out. Great atmosphere, great people, and unforgettable energy. You meet so many like-minded solo travellers and somehow, you never end up solo by the end
The favourite place I’ve stayed in Iceland by far. The bathrooms were super clean and well equipped. Shoutout to the lady working there, she was super nice!!
This is the cleanest and nicest hostel I have ever been. The place is new. The toilets super clean and the facilities are great
Very clean and convenient . They have everything you need. Coffee machine, hot chocolate etc . Helpful reception
Good kitchen good room everything are wonderful. We love here
5 as it was the best so far I've stayed in & good value for money. The bathroom & showers were excellent. The 10 bed bunk bed room was fine with good layout, spacious & comfortable beds
The best is the quality of the communal spaces in which to prepare your food & relax. I also arrived wet & was surprised to find an excellent drying room in the basement
This is hands down the best place to stay in Reykjavík and I’ve traveled here a few times and stayed at both hotels and BnB’s - nothing compares to the warmth of Our House which really is your home away from home
Also Bedda, the owner, is very help- and cheerful turning even the bleakest of Reykjavik's days into pure sunshine. Update: Coming back to Our House after four months really did feel like coming home
Cute little b&b in the heart of Reykjavík. Great price and awesome amenities, including a sauna. Kitchen was clean and well provisioned, though we only used the fridge and toaster and coffee maker.
The bathroom also has a sauna (!), and the rest of the facilities (kitchen, toilets, reception area, laundry, etc) is equipped with everything you need
Great, very hospitable place with all kinds of different guests make it feel like staying with a large, diverse international family
You’re 2 mins away from the coolest shops in Reykjavík including Sandholt cafe which is a must-visit for brunch or lunch
This charming hotel, set in a building that was once a school, really impressed us with its history and character. The furniture is simple and a bit old, but everything is impeccably clean and very well maintained
The room small but comfortable. I like the kitchen, feel clean, bright and comfortable.
We called because we couldn't figure out the locks, and the owner drove over to help in a few minutes
Pretty clean
Sink in room
Plenty of parking
Towel provided
Shower has hair dryer and shampoo
Free wifi, and good speed
I was able to download/play videos
Neutral
3 showers and 2 bathrooms in the floor we stayed on (~10 rooms?) so you may have to wait in the busy hours in the morning and evening
2 cafes nearby, but both close early (4 pm and 6pm)
Cons
Room is small
Like another reviewer, we couldn't find a place in Vik to stay in the summer, and this was one of the few options available. We didn't have any issue with hot water, even during the night when the showers were busy
While location was perfect (bang next to Skogafoss), It was one of the most expensive stays we had in Iceland and the amenities were either at the same level or even lower than some of the other places we stayed
