Our room was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely view of the harbour from the window ⚓️🌊 — such a nice surprise to wake up to!
The shared bathrooms and showers were spotless 🚿✨, and the kitchen was tidy and well-equipped 🍳, which made it easy to prepare a quick meal
No issues with noise (we were on the second floor in a family room). Truly lovely room with a glass balcony door opening to a second floor table & chairs. Appreciate its affordability in an otherwise expensive town
The location is quiet and convenient — there’s a restaurant next door with delicious burgers 🍔, and a supermarket just a few minutes’ walk away 🛒. I’m honestly surprised by some of the negative reviews 🤷♂️
I was very wary of staying here given some recent reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, inviting on the inside with thoughtfully laid out teas, cups and a hot water kettle on both floors
If you book a guesthouse just for a good night’s sleep before continuing your journey, you shouldn’t expect a 5-star hotel. For what it is — a simple, clean, and well-run guesthouse — it’s perfect
Rented a unit for 5 of us and it had 2 separate bedrooms and a couch with a hideaway bed. The unit was recently updated, nicely decorated and very clean. I’d highly recommend it.
We enjoyed our stay at Guesthouse Vellir! It was clean, quiet, and safe. After showing up to a different local accommodation and being told they accidentally overbooked and did not have room for us, we felt panicked
However, we found Guesthouse Vellir and they got us set up with a room immediately. They were very helpful and accommodating. We didn’t hear our neighbors at all during our stay! The rooms were very quiet
There was plenty of space for us and we felt safe the entire stay
the “lobby” and the shared bathroom smelled very stale but the room was fine. beds were comfortable! for some reason locking and unlocking the door was very difficult, we kept turning the key around for a long time
there’s mountains and fields surrounding the hotel. lots of sheep right next to it. the rooms were fine and pretty small. the walls were thin so we could hear everyone in the next rooms and the hallway
Beds were comfortable and rooms clean. We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our room. Be aware just like many places in Iceland you are required to take off your shoes before entering
However, some wonderful person at Eldá responded to my text immediately and let me know they would save my room keys and check in info on the desk for me!
The people at Eldá are incredibly nice, helpful and professional
We stayed here as part of our ring roadtrip. The walls were very thin and we had a group of Spanish guests who were very lound in the same area but besides that, the place was warm and had a kitchen and very accessible
Nice clean rooms with a great breakfast in the morning. We stayed in the building next door and there are 2 rooms that share a kitchen, bath & shower
We got stuck in some bad weather, and ran into some closed roads, and were going to arrive after check in time
Overall we were very satisfied and really lied the breakfast they had
Lovely accommodation with excellent breakfast, big room with sink and comfortable bed. Enough toilets available for everyone and pools outside. Will come again :)
We stayed here in a 2 person cabin for two nights the first full week of August 2025. The cabin was absolutely lovely and the location was extremely scenic. Everything was clean and felt nice
The water was hot, things weren't too cramped. The Bakkaflot complex was a smidge confusing and we didn't do anything but stay at night so I have nothing to say about the rest of the area
Breakfast was basic European continental (cereal, toast, and cold meats) with decent orange juice and coffee
Comfortable bed hot water and warm room. Unfortunately no access to food so travelled 15km to eat
If I ever come back to Iceland, I will stay in this property. It was very clean and nice.
Very friendly staff, quiet location and close to Studlagil canyon. Dining option is limited but the restaurant at the hotel is good. Breakfast is served included, a big plus since food is expensive in Iceland
Everything was great! Clean rooms. Delicious, hardy, dinner options. A lot of breakfast options. Complimentary tea is always available. Great place to see the northern lights from. Would stay again!
very convenient location and only 22min drive to next hiking spot. At night cooled the room perfectly. Unsure what these tiny red bugs are but we did keep finding them on the floor during our stay
Although the rooms are simply furnished, they are still very comfortable. The hotel is close to the basalt canyon, making it a good stopover. The breakfast and dinner were also quite good.
Hotel is at our stop-overnight location. Good spot for star glazing and watching Northern Lights. Bed is comfortable, very quiet at night. Dinner were good and breakfast is moderate
Very kind service, rooms are spacious, and clean. Fresh breakfast was made and everything tasted good. This use to be a school so kinda cool and different looking inside
It's great that it comes with a private shower room for this price. There's a coffee maker with a wide variety of drinks, including lattes and chocolate lattes. Yogurt and cereal are also available, which is helpful
Although breakfast wasn't included, they provided complimentary coffee, milk, and yogurt, which was a thoughtful touch. The staff were also very friendly. Overall, it was a great stay and very budget-friendly
Everything you need. Clean comfortable beds, clean rooms, new bathrooms, snacks and drinks, well maintained property. Extremely high value, most especially compared to surrounding lodgings. Recommend
The owner is incredibly friendly. It's conveniently located for exploring the scenic northeastern region from Hofn, and also for visiting Diamond Beach to the west.
Love this cozy stay in Höfn. Room is clean, it serves free coffee and milk. Really enjoy!
The rooms are relatively large, very clean, and the bed, including the pillow and blanket, was exceptionally comfortable – you really sleep well. I would particularly like to highlight the large communal kitchen
Everything you need is nearby: A large supermarket and a gas station are only about 700 meters away. Overall, a very pleasant accommodation with a convenient location and good amenities
We were the only guests but the whole apartment was very clean. They had a good equipt kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and would travel there again :)
Cool guesthouse in Iceland.
We had an amazing stay! Super friendly staff and a stunning kitchen! We had no problem with the shared bathroom and showers. The Guesthouse is really quiet and super clean
It is modernly equipped and offers several cooktops, so all guests can easily cook at the same time without getting in each other's way
The guesthouse is ideally located: The Vök Bath, where we enjoyed relaxing in the evenings, is just a few minutes away by car
It’s near Hallgrímskirkja, city center, walking distance from Airport and BSI bus station. Room and bathroom had everything that we needed, clean and comfortable. Everything was very clean. It had an outside hot bath!
Located just a short walk from the Cathedral, the Baldursbra guesthouse is ideal for the budget traveller, the rooms a quite big, and the room we had a small sink and mirror for brushing you teeth before bed or doing makeup
Such a cozy spot! Very clean, comfy beds. Host was very quick to respond to email. Loved the shared living space, fast wifi. Kitchen had everything we needed and more! A short walk down town, would definitely recommend.
Guesthouse with self-service check-in and out. Small room (for one person; for more I think they are cool). Strange but exciting experience. I will repeat for sure next time, has an extraordinary charm
They have warm rooms all the time. Big comfort kitchen and a lobby with a lovely cat. The location is perfect for short walks to the center. They have always warm coffee for the guests
Its a neat clean and calm guest house right in the downtown reykjavik and close to the most of the city attractions. Five to seven minutes walk from the main bus terminal BSI.
You can't use the kitchen to cook so use only to eat ready meals
Tea coffee and cookies are free
You rooms are warm but do have an old smell
The main down side for me was not to be able to use the kitchen to cook but understandable due to the hotel affordability
Cozy apartment in off-grid Iceland. Rooms are practical and it’s situated close to the coast, which makes it the perfect spot for watching the Aurora! Had a super tasty hamburger in the restaurant downstairs
Perfect location and price! We stayed one night as we were passing through town. Convenient location to restaurants and gas stations. The room was clean! Would recommend and would stay again!
Room is clean and in a quiet location. Beach is right in fron t of the house.
Very beatiful Guesthouse, with view on the see from the rooms
We liked the spacious apartment. It was great for our stay.
I was only there for one night and day and would go back instantly
Very cosy place, a bit small, so I would only recommend it if you're planning to only sleep there. Got a nice gift when I entered my room
The location is a bit hidden in between buildings, but you will get a mail with good directions before you are able to check in. Very friendly owner, and she will contact you if needed
The hotel had poor soundproofing and no front desk, so those who don't speak English well should probably think twice before choosing it. The owner was very nice and let me check in early. It's very close to the church
Otherwise, the rooms were spotless and the bed was comfortable, even though they were very small. It would be nice to have a hand towel provided in each room versus the single hand towel in the shared bathroom
Very cute and cozy house in the city centre of Reykjavik. The kitchen is very basic but it had all we needed. The house is very quiet but you can hear noise from the other rooms on the same floor
We even searched for other restaurants before going in! But decided to just give it a try. After all, we were right in front of it
We went here for a late lunch. Food and coffee were great. Price on par with other restaurants. The quantities were great.
Very nice place, in perfect spot between Reykjavík and Akureyri.
Good food, nice atmosphere.
And EXTREMELY nice crew.
Doesn't matter what you'll order, they smile will make it even better.
I highly recommend.
We stopped for coffee and cake — both were excellent. The coffee was rich and well made, the cake fresh and delicious. Service was very friendly and helpful, making the visit even more enjoyable
This was a good stop on the ring road when there are not many options in the north. Room was clean, cozy comfortable and adequate. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very good
Breakfast was greatly appreciated, but there was not as many options as other hotels we had stayed at previously. Overall a good choice for a one-night stay
Bathroom is spacious but the sink it tiny, also had a heated towel rack
We thought it would be a darker area for the night sky but the school is very close and gives off a lot of light but you don't have to drive down far to find somewhere darker. Overall very nice stay for the area
We went at 730 on the first day and it was very busy when we left, but the next day it wasn't nearly as busy. We didn't have dinner there as it was extra, but there also isn't anything very close nearby
Marmalade and strawberry jam was delicious. Lots of options for everyone to choose from. Great selection of tea as well as hot coffee with non dairy options for creamer. Definitely would definitely stay again
Horses grazing nearby added a charming touch to the scenery. What truly made the experience unforgettable was the expansive sky—perfect for watching the northern lights when the weather is clear
It’s one of the best spots I’ve stayed at for enjoying nature and the magic of the aurora. Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility and breathtaking views
We stayed here for a few nights in the January. HIGHLY recommend. Great communication, clean and beautiful space, and easy access to a variety of beautiful places. 10/10 recommend, can't wait to return!
Also price is really reasonable compared to other accomodation. If you move to the road, you can see aurora more clearly either!
Very recommend this house and thanks for the stay once more!
Very cozy fully and well equiped apartment. One of the best stays in Iceland. The employees are very nice and helpfull. Everything is clean and in good conditions. A clear recommendation.
The car is right in front of the room, which is very convenient. We like it very much and are satisfied. The happiest thing is to see the Northern Lights when you walk out of the room at night
I stayed only one night but place was really wonderful. The room was very clean and lots of cooking tools are prepared. Of course salts, pepper, oil is in the house
Moreover, sea is right next to house, really easy to catch nothern light and aurora. Since city is quite small and there is not much light, stars are also very clearly seen
But everyone was very kind and we all worked around each other. You definitely need to prepare to be at least 30 + minutes from grocery, pharmacy and such so plan accordingly. Great location to explore the peninsula
The cutest cabin with the most amazing views.the staff was so friendly but i was a bit sad that i didnt get to meet thor and loki (the cats on premises) will have to take a trip back
But we just brought our own shopping bag for trash and threw it out elsewhere. The kitchen is very small if there are a few people wanting to cook or do dishes
Fantastic personal cabins! Walking distance to the beach, and was able to see the northern lights here! One of the few great places to stay outside city limits in Iceland.
What a lovely place to stay! It’s also a good spot to watch northern light if the sky is clear. The owner is very friendly. She welcomed us warmly.
Mountains on one side and ocean on the other. We enjoyed our room very much. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing to note was the trash was small in the room and the kitchen
Really nice place. But some things where missing (not enough big towels for example). However I recommend it
I stayed four nights on the Golden Circle and found this place to be incredibly helpful. I was satisfied with all the facilities and experienced no inconveniences
The kitchen was well supplied and they had a large drip coffee machine and free coffee grounds. I need to use a paper towel for a filter
If you have any requests or needs, they'll take care of them promptly
Fantastic accommodations within an even more wonderful community. Staff were kind and helpful. Sólheimar is a model of how we should all live with one another and with our Earth. Couldn’t have had a better stay!
Secluded, beautiful, clean, spacious room with its own little kitchen.they also have a common kitchen that every one can use.affordable price for family and group.
The rooms are wooden cottage, loves the exterior. The interior is a bit with ages, yet perfectly function. Had a huge window from the room, seeing Krafla, stars and aurora from the window, love it
Shared kitchen is cute and lovely. The breakfast is super nice with perfect view of myvatn. Got discounted ticket for Myvatn Bath from them and they helped for booking, yay!
The room size is compact but clean.
Staff are friendly
Breakfast is included and yummy 😋
Check in windows seemed to be only 1 hour. It may have been OK to arrive after the desk staff was gone, but that was not clear in our instruction. The directions made is seem like we had to arrive within a 1 hour window
The stay here was okay. Not bad but also not extraordinarily good.
We had a great stay! The sauna and hot tub at night was so nice and my toddler loved feeding the sheep (they provided us some food to give to them). The breakfast in the morning was great too!
Loved this place. Easy to locate and get to your room, cute dining room area set up for breakfast. We were able to see the Northern Lights too so overall it was a great stay.
From the decor featuring historic photos and paintings, to the sauna and hot tub, and the service provided by the family at breakfast, it is clear they care about creating an excellent experience for their guests
Property was very clean and quiet. Room had a view of the exterior fields and bed was extremely comfortable. The included breakfast had so many options, including a waffle iron and homemade jams and cheese
The breakfast was excellent - more selection than we have experienced in many hotels around the world. We expected very simple toast and cereal and were pleasantly surprised
Amazing location, the HotTub and the Sauna are a gamechanger after days in the Highlands. The Hosts are super freindly and I would book this at any time again
What an amazing stay it was! Guesthouse Lyngholt is located in Þórshöfn which is not a very touristy town. If you are looking for peace & comfort, this is place for you. The rooms were very clean & comfortable
I stayed in the new upstairs room in a traditional house with such a wonderful view of the sunset! It was beautiful and very comfortable. The hostess was more than kind. Lovely stay!
Very nice guest House with lovely hosts, perfect rooms, clean and the beds are also perfect.
Very cozy hotel with coffee machine / tea in the spacious kitchen and seating area with great daylight. Breakfast was included which is a big plus in the rather remote area.
The location is between hot tourist sites and it is very quiet & peaceful. To us, it’s an ideal please for Iceland self driving tour middle point relaxing & recharging. We lived there for two nights 8/21 & 8/22
We stayed in the main guesthouse. Plenty of parking space, the check-in was good, Karen and her family are super friendly hosts. Very clean and comfortable room with plenty of space for our family of 3
Best breakfast that we had during the whole trip. Very kind and friendly environment. It is family-run and the lady of the house is taking godd care of any requirements. We definitely come back on our next Iceland trip.
This place was absolutely incredible – by far the best in Iceland😍😍😍
The hosts were so welcoming, and their dogs were just wonderful – friendly, playful
The breakfast was delicious, made with care❤️ Every detail exceeded expectations, and the atmosphere made us feel right at home. I can’t thank the owners enough for such a fantastic experience
Absolutely delightful farmhouse bed and breakfast. Unnar (the owner) is kind and gracious. Delicious breakfast. I wish we had booked for more time.
The rooster was quiet until about 10am! We really appreciated the gluten and dairy free options at breakfast and the delicious, homemade rhubarb jam. Thank you for a lovely stay! Maybe we will be back for the 100th!
A very kind hostess, lovely accommodation and the best breakfast we had in Iceland during our trip.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The large windows create a nice bright living area. Open concept kitchen, dining and living area with a loft above the living area. Loft is nice if you need more than 2 bedrooms
Self check-in and check-out. 2 rooms and a living room. The rooms are clean. All necessary information is in the file. We checked in at 2 a.m. and checked out at 7 a.m. It was very easy.
The cottages facilities were satisfactory for our needs. The location was very convenient for exploring the Myvatan area. The views were fantastic, and would have been perfect for auroras
Bedrooms are small but we spent most of our time in the main living space, so not an issue. We used both the outdoor hot tub and BBQ with no problems. We drove from the cottage to Húsavík and back for whale watching
There’s a table with 4 chairs and a couch. Small kitchen but has everything you need to cook a decent meal. But the highlight of it all and the foremost reason to book this cottage: the hot tub outside
Located right in nature and absolutely quiet at night. There are 5 houses in total, 2 bigger and 3 smaller houses. We had some trouble opening two suitcases but it wasn’t a big deal
