What an amazing stay it was! Guesthouse Lyngholt is located in Þórshöfn which is not a very touristy town. If you are looking for peace & comfort, this is place for you. The rooms were very clean & comfortable
I stayed in the new upstairs room in a traditional house with such a wonderful view of the sunset! It was beautiful and very comfortable. The hostess was more than kind. Lovely stay!
Very nice guest House with lovely hosts, perfect rooms, clean and the beds are also perfect.
Very cozy hotel with coffee machine / tea in the spacious kitchen and seating area with great daylight. Breakfast was included which is a big plus in the rather remote area.
The location is between hot tourist sites and it is very quiet & peaceful. To us, it’s an ideal please for Iceland self driving tour middle point relaxing & recharging. We lived there for two nights 8/21 & 8/22
We stayed in the main guesthouse. Plenty of parking space, the check-in was good, Karen and her family are super friendly hosts. Very clean and comfortable room with plenty of space for our family of 3
Best breakfast that we had during the whole trip. Very kind and friendly environment. It is family-run and the lady of the house is taking godd care of any requirements. We definitely come back on our next Iceland trip.
This place was absolutely incredible – by far the best in Iceland😍😍😍
The hosts were so welcoming, and their dogs were just wonderful – friendly, playful
The breakfast was delicious, made with care❤️ Every detail exceeded expectations, and the atmosphere made us feel right at home. I can’t thank the owners enough for such a fantastic experience
Absolutely delightful farmhouse bed and breakfast. Unnar (the owner) is kind and gracious. Delicious breakfast. I wish we had booked for more time.
The rooster was quiet until about 10am! We really appreciated the gluten and dairy free options at breakfast and the delicious, homemade rhubarb jam. Thank you for a lovely stay! Maybe we will be back for the 100th!
A very kind hostess, lovely accommodation and the best breakfast we had in Iceland during our trip.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The large windows create a nice bright living area. Open concept kitchen, dining and living area with a loft above the living area. Loft is nice if you need more than 2 bedrooms
Self check-in and check-out. 2 rooms and a living room. The rooms are clean. All necessary information is in the file. We checked in at 2 a.m. and checked out at 7 a.m. It was very easy.
The cottages facilities were satisfactory for our needs. The location was very convenient for exploring the Myvatan area. The views were fantastic, and would have been perfect for auroras
Bedrooms are small but we spent most of our time in the main living space, so not an issue. We used both the outdoor hot tub and BBQ with no problems. We drove from the cottage to Húsavík and back for whale watching
There’s a table with 4 chairs and a couch. Small kitchen but has everything you need to cook a decent meal. But the highlight of it all and the foremost reason to book this cottage: the hot tub outside
Located right in nature and absolutely quiet at night. There are 5 houses in total, 2 bigger and 3 smaller houses. We had some trouble opening two suitcases but it wasn’t a big deal
We stayed at the little campsite close to the guest house. It is very silent, with the sound of the river passing close to the guest house. The campsite is sheltered from the wind by the hill which makes it even better
Warm and welcoming staff and reception desk. They let us check in late, as we arrived late, so we really appreciated it. Clean rooms at the cabins, you can feel privacy here. surrounded by mountains and forest
Great stay
Stayed here for two nights in August and had a great time. We didn’t do the breakfast but we did dinner one night and it was great (I had the vegetable soup, highly recommend!)
We stayed in one of the cabins and there was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The area is beautiful and quiet. Staff were helpful and breakfast was great
This is a beautiful, remote area away from town. We had beautiful weather and could see the snow-capped mountains out our window.
We only stayed 1 night on our trip around the ring road but we would have been comfortable staying here much longer
If you walk over to the parking lot with the signs you can see the map of the area/trails and various points of interest - including gamli baer and its history. I would definitely recommend this place - great value too
About 5 minutes drive before the location there is also spectacular waterfalls. The host is very kind; he makes breakfast and dinner. The soup at the dinner is the host specialty. Served hot, delicious, and filling
Near the location you have nice hiking trails, or challenging ones, depending how fit you are :) You can go up a little and have a spectacular view towards Langjokull glacier
We were there during begin winter, inside was very hot, and easy to get to with car. I liked that it was in the middle of nowhere - which is great for Nordic Lights
Absolutely recommend this place for anyone traveling through Iceland. The host was amazingly kind and showed us the cultural aspects and where to go
The Gamli Guesthouse was an amazing stay in Iceland. The landlord was super hospitable and as we entered we were met with fresh waffles and coffee
Nice place to stay, especially when travelling around. Very clean, has all the amenities you need, while also having nice rooms
Saw Northern lights just outside our room. Can cook your oen breakfast. Plenty of room to gather and eat in dining area - breakfast on your own.
Very clean. Nice to have own washroom. Also nice to be able to use cooking facilities that were kept very clean.
Well equipped large shared kitchen, comfy beds, everything was very clean.
Very nice guest house quiet location off he beaten path.
Clean and comfortable
This place was clean, quiet and comfortable. There was a kitchen for use, although we had nothing to prepare there. Room was large.
The view was STUNNING! We saw the northern lights, watched horses, and played with the farm dogs! There was a good little pizza place about five minutes away and a grocery store and other stores about 10 minutes away
We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on our first night there - but the views out across endless fields of ponies across to the snow capped mountains kept us happy for the rest of our time there! We have already recommended this place to friends
We stayed at this lovely guest house last week and we are really happy to say that it was a cosy place, with all the amenities that you would expect for a comfortable stay. Hosts are super responsive and very organised
We got to experience Icelandic farm life with our girls. They have horses, sheep, and dogs around the property. The dogs are so friendly they spent time playing fetch and following around our daughters.
This was our favorite lodging while in Iceland! The owner was responsive and welcoming. The small house was incredibly clean and well supplied with everything we needed while there for three nights
The cabin is set up very well in terms of storage, beds etc, but also has other touches that make self catering so much easier, like providing washing up liquid, salt etc etc
Frankly, I wasn’t expecting much from a restaurant located right off a hotel reception area. However, to my surprise, the entire dish was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare, tender and flavorful
Our group was divided into super nice cottages of this hotel. We, being 4 people, received a very big and nice apartment, fully equipped, we were pleasantly surprised. And the breakfast was good, quite varied
The Aldan restaurant serves as the headquarters for the 3-house hotel. Neat and clean, the restaurant is staffed by beautiful Nordic goddesses who are as friendly and cheerful as they are helpful
Nice setting, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food! It is definitely meant for the experience of dining, and it was approximately two hours from entering and to leaving, but it was well worth it
The custard had just the right thickness, the sugar topping was caramelized to a perfect golden crunch, and the rhubarb integrated into the custard provided a bright, balanced flavor
My server, Cristina from Spain, was funny, friendly, and extremely helpful when it came time to choose from my options. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée, which was also excellent
My friends and I loved this place. I will never forget the conversation I had with the owner. She learned that I spoke Icelandic, so she asked me one or two questions and told me I sounded just like an Icelander
Ekra cottages is an amazing place to stay for a couple of days. It is quite difficult to find it in the map but its possible. The owner is very friendly & lives 1 km away from the cottages
The cottage is extremely spacious, clean & beautiful. There are all the amenities inside including Heater, TV, fully equipped kitchen etc
Very comfortable accommodation with many facilities in a lovely location. Hospitable and helpful host.
It is a little expensive compared to other accommodations in Iceland but totally worth an experience
Comfortable cottage with many facilities and BBQ. Helpful host and amazing surroundings.
The main picture in the hotel information is misleading in my opinion. The hot pool doesn't belong to the hotel and is just a separate business about 20min walk
Very good for such a guesthose
++ very good breakfast
++ spacy rooms
+ good bathroom
+ comfortable beds
+ fine location - next to a river, shops, restaurants
+ quiet for the central location in this rather peaceful town
- thin walls - you can hear and feel what happens next door
- you need to call someone to check-in (even within the given check-in time)
Rooms are small but comfortable. We had both dinner and breakfast with are both very good ! The hosts are lovely, helpful and we really liked the family feeling they give to the whole place. Thank you !
EV charger on site. Great location in the middle of the Golden Circle. There was a restaurant right next to the guesthouse, and the main Hill Hotel across from the guesthouse has a nice restaurant.
Well thought out room layout and bathroom has a floor heating system. No TV but has a nice view of a stream in the back, which I prefer more. The breakfast buffet was good
Beautiful stay and I definitely recommend staying here. It was not crowded or busy. Staff was helpful and accommodating. No issued checking in or out
The room was very nice, warm and cozy, perfect for arriving after a rainy day. There is no staff on-site, but we didn't miss anything. The surrounding area is beautiful.
The property was ok, very strange floors that felt like outdoor pool flooring. Clean and quiet, very basic, comfortable beds, we did not see a single staff member during our stay.
The bedroom size is huge, so you can fit your stuff easily. The self check in work just fine. The bedroom has heater and it worked very good (considering the size of the room)
: The supermarkets nearby close early and the other stores open till late doesn't have a lot of options (and it's expensive) so prepare yourself before go to your stay
Although small, it was well-equipped. The only downside was the soundproofing, which could be improved. But for a B&B, the environment was great
Had a lovely time at the guesthouse - check-in was easy and straightforward. Rooms were tidy, clean, and showers were well kept.
We stayed in a campervan not a cottage, but this had everything we needed! It was about 5000 ISK for 2 people. We stayed in October so there were only about 4 other vans and no midges (bugs) that other people experienced
There is a common kitchen where guests can cook and clean after themselves. Bathrooms and showers are clean. Heaters are set to very hot temperature. We ended up opening our window for fresh air
There was a problem with the hot water when we checked in, and a number of people in the reception office complaining, but the woman at the desk handled it all with impressive professionalism
The amenities were nice and had everything we needed: showers, toilets, cooking tent. The toilets had the heat cranked inside so it was very warm. Showers are communal with no curtains
Not sure why previous guests complain about the bugs as they must have came the wrong time of year, so that’s on them. Hardly any bugs here in mid Aug, perfect cool weather
We stayed in a brand new cabin and although the door was fussy, it was cozy and served its purpose. I liked looking out over the lava flows to the lake.
Room clean and close airport . Can see northern lights at guesthouse .
clean. close to airport. can arrange airport service. recommended
Facilities: Pretty good, basic necessities are all provided, bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. Although the bathroom is shared, it is generally clean and the space is large
KEF Guesthouse is one of the closest and most affordable stays near Keflavík Airport — ideal for short or overnight layovers. The rooms are quite small but serve the purpose for a quick rest before or after a flight
The hotel is very close to the airport, within ten minutes' drive. Service: The staff has a good attitude. They arrived late at night and informed us in advance how to check in by themselves
Facilities include shared bathrooms (only two) that are used by several rooms — around ten or more — so plan your timing accordingly
We had a wonderful stay at Vallakot Farms. The location was perfect for us - coming from Husavik, and being out home base to visit Myvatn and Godafoss. The room was clean and quiet, with a wonderful view of the farm
We had a lovely stay at Vallakot Farm Guesthouse. The studio was well-equipped and very clean. We had a comfortable night’s rest after a long day of driving. We also got to meet one of the owners who was so kind
Did some reading on the deck and enjoyed a cup of team in the morning outside as well. The hot tub is enjoyable at night. Convenient location and easy access to nearby attractions in the diamond circle
A relaxing and comfortable stay in one of the guesthouses. The farm has plenty of animals to see and a resident dog that greets you. House has built in fridge and equipped kitchen for cooking
Check out their vegetables that are grown and sold on their farm!! Highly recommend :)
The unit we occupied was between two others. So, a little like a motel, but with a lovely rural atmosphere. Lovely little table set on the deck which overlooked the pastures
I loved staying here a couple of nights to dodge some Icelandic weather. The owner Gunnar was hilarious (very dry sense of humour) really helpful and friendly, as is his daughter Isabella (apologies for any misspelling)
For Iceland the price they charge is really low price and it's fair, because as a young traveller you don't have that much money and it's nice if you can go without spending a fortune and still have a comfortable bed (yes, you have actual BEDS in this hostel, not some old shaky bunk beds like in many other hostels)
(Very) late arrival was no problem at all, I sent an email and they responded within an hour, arranged everything for me and I had a warm and cozy bed waiting for me after a very long and tiring drive
The owner was awesome! The room was very cute and modern. The shared kitchen and restroom was nice and had everything we needed. The owner helped us get our car out of the snow after the snowstorm
Bathroom / restroom is very clean as well, you also have a sink in the room, which is nice, so you don't have to go to the bathroom to shave/brush your teeth. Really appreciated the hospitability
The kitchen is also very good, I was missing a stove, but then again you have free tea/coffee which is awesome. The staff/owner is very nice as well
Only hand soap available in bathroom but that comes with the territory, not even the nicest places we stayed in Iceland would qualify as luxury by US standards. Recommend for anyone going to this area of the country
The view is amazing from the cottage! When we woke up it snowed for the first time this winter and it was spectacular and amazing. We almost stayed one more night because we loved this place so much
It was a beautiful environment! The mountains and the stream and the waterfall. Beautiful. A cosy little cabin with two bedrooms. We could cosy up on the couch as well and watch a movie.
Cottages need to be just assigned by the numbers. 2 rooms with 2 single beds in each and a sofa that pulls out to a double bed. They have signs for different sights to see in the area
Stunning location and scenery all around, but very pricey. Stayed only for 1 night, but the drive to and out of the cottage was spectacular. Barn restaurant only option for food.
There was a small description about the farm and history of accommodation and it was very very cute. Ever thinking of visiting East Iceland, would highly suggest this spot
Our room was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely view of the harbour from the window ⚓️🌊 — such a nice surprise to wake up to!
The shared bathrooms and showers were spotless 🚿✨, and the kitchen was tidy and well-equipped 🍳, which made it easy to prepare a quick meal
No issues with noise (we were on the second floor in a family room). Truly lovely room with a glass balcony door opening to a second floor table & chairs. Appreciate its affordability in an otherwise expensive town
The location is quiet and convenient — there’s a restaurant next door with delicious burgers 🍔, and a supermarket just a few minutes’ walk away 🛒. I’m honestly surprised by some of the negative reviews 🤷♂️
I was very wary of staying here given some recent reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, inviting on the inside with thoughtfully laid out teas, cups and a hot water kettle on both floors
If you book a guesthouse just for a good night’s sleep before continuing your journey, you shouldn’t expect a 5-star hotel. For what it is — a simple, clean, and well-run guesthouse — it’s perfect
Rented a unit for 5 of us and it had 2 separate bedrooms and a couch with a hideaway bed. The unit was recently updated, nicely decorated and very clean. I’d highly recommend it.
Great cottage with good facilities, good sized bedrooms and a patio. Easy to find, check in, park and a short drive to the town. Stayed for two nights as a family
The guesthouse is in the middle of road 1 near Eglisstadir where you have gas station and convenience store. The room is spacious and there’s enough parking space outside
One minor complaint was the smoke alarm was on the kitchen counter without a battery and we got no reply from the owner when we messaged about this
The rooms are fairly basic, but offer everything one needs for an overnight stay. You can even make some coffee, it has a refrigerator, which was convenient to store our things
The place is clean, the check-in is easy and the location is easy to find. There is a large parking space in front of the house
The shower is excellent and there’s bed is comfortable
A very cozy house, with all the facilities you need. Hot water, nice shower, washing machine and dryer( extra cost), and a big kitchen with modern cookers, the room was comfortable too
It’s a really nice, clean, quiet well equipped and spacious place! The Kitchen was wonderful. The owner was super nice and friendly. This is the place that you want to stay!
Quiet comfortable place. The hosts are really friendly and go above and beyond to accomodate your needs. The kitchen and bathroom are great too.
You also get to meet travelers from all over the world. The owners are very friendly and generous
We stsyed here for one night, this is a house in selfoss, where owners live in the same house with guests, the bathroom is not private and you share your dining, living area and the kitchen with the owners, our room was attached to the kitchen wall so we could hear them cooking and talking in the kitchen
Unlike some of the guesthouses in Iceland, this was more like an airbnb where we were clearly living in a spare room in someone's house. They converted their garage into rudimentary shower and bathroom for guests
However, some wonderful person at Eldá responded to my text immediately and let me know they would save my room keys and check in info on the desk for me!
The people at Eldá are incredibly nice, helpful and professional
We stayed here as part of our ring roadtrip. The walls were very thin and we had a group of Spanish guests who were very lound in the same area but besides that, the place was warm and had a kitchen and very accessible
Nice clean rooms with a great breakfast in the morning. We stayed in the building next door and there are 2 rooms that share a kitchen, bath & shower
We got stuck in some bad weather, and ran into some closed roads, and were going to arrive after check in time
Overall we were very satisfied and really lied the breakfast they had
