(Also, very kid-friendly with kids’ menu and available table games while waiting a very brief period for our food (very fast service)). My favorite restaurant in Iceland!
Amazing food and service! The soup Buffett was great. The fish and chips were simply the best I have had. Wonderful family-owned and operated establishment
A nice bed and breakfast spot where you can use a kitchen if you want to cook. A restaurant is available and is not too expensive with good products.
The fish and chips were excellent, the soup buffet was farm fresh, and the owners are a delight!
Wonderful food and wonderful hospitality
Unexpectedly amazing! Tried the fish of the day - cod - and we almost ate our fingers. Souce is very very tasty. And the colesaw 😍 We also got the soup bowl - with infinite refills. Very good deal :)
It was easy to find the hotel and my room. The code on the door was kept switching but eventually got inside. It’s not a luxury but you got everything you need. The kitchen has all basic stuff and even tea and coffee
Jack at the front is very nice. The room is simple, but very nice people and yes, it was clean. Great price,Great location, and we will share to come back.
Mr. Canada 🇨🇦
(Reception is not allways maned, but it is possible to call them 24/7)
Close to Hlemmur Bus Stops and Food Hall, a 24h market (called 10 -11) is also close by
It was a good experience in Iceland however there’s very less amenities which is only beds toilet in the room and even there’s no microwave in the hotel.
The biggest upside though is the location - it's so close to all Reykjavik attractions! If I ever return to Reykjavik I will definitely stay here again
The bed in the room was too soft, and I woke up with a backache. Also, the customer service was too slow to respond, and the room was completely empty.
You can't use the kitchen to cook so use only to eat ready meals
Tea coffee and cookies are free
You rooms are warm but do have an old smell
The main down side for me was not to be able to use the kitchen to cook but understandable due to the hotel affordability
Cozy apartment in off-grid Iceland. Rooms are practical and it’s situated close to the coast, which makes it the perfect spot for watching the Aurora! Had a super tasty hamburger in the restaurant downstairs
Perfect location and price! We stayed one night as we were passing through town. Convenient location to restaurants and gas stations. The room was clean! Would recommend and would stay again!
Room is clean and in a quiet location. Beach is right in fron t of the house.
Very beatiful Guesthouse, with view on the see from the rooms
We liked the spacious apartment. It was great for our stay.
Very friendly staff, quiet location and close to Studlagil canyon. Dining option is limited but the restaurant at the hotel is good. Breakfast is served included, a big plus since food is expensive in Iceland
Everything was great! Clean rooms. Delicious, hardy, dinner options. A lot of breakfast options. Complimentary tea is always available. Great place to see the northern lights from. Would stay again!
very convenient location and only 22min drive to next hiking spot. At night cooled the room perfectly. Unsure what these tiny red bugs are but we did keep finding them on the floor during our stay
Although the rooms are simply furnished, they are still very comfortable. The hotel is close to the basalt canyon, making it a good stopover. The breakfast and dinner were also quite good.
Hotel is at our stop-overnight location. Good spot for star glazing and watching Northern Lights. Bed is comfortable, very quiet at night. Dinner were good and breakfast is moderate
Very kind service, rooms are spacious, and clean. Fresh breakfast was made and everything tasted good. This use to be a school so kinda cool and different looking inside
The residents are quite diverse, from all corners of the country. I even saw a couple from Canada. On this gravel road, I fixed a tire puncture caused by the highway's 🛣km gravel with a tire repair app
A nice and quiet place in the Selfoss area. We booked this hotel to stay after finishing the Golden Circle. We saw the northern lights here, after we were notified via a special WhatsApp group
Decent room for it price. Location is good because it's in the countryside which offers good chance to see the northern lights but has easy access to selfoss (~30min with slow driving)
The hotel was clean, but the room had a slightly stuffy smell. There were only two electrical outlets in the room, so it was a bit of a hassle. The heating was adequate!
Awesome services! The staff are really kind and nice!
The staff were very welcoming and helpful – we arrived late in the evening, and they took time to explain everything clearly: the common areas (with games available until 11 pm), the breakfast setup, and then directed us to our room
Hot water was already prepared for the bathtub when we arrived, but unfortunately it rained all night; otherwise, we could have enjoyed the aurora borealis while taking a bath outdoors
Although we specified a 3-person booking, we were only provided with bedding and towels for two single beds. Luckily, we brought our own bedding and towels, so we didn't bother the front desk
Convenient location for geysir and gullfoss. Nice hot tub. Pool smaller than the pictures. Small bedrooms, but amazingly comfortable beds. Good kitchen facilities and nice food at the club house
Very friendly staff.
Iceland is just beautiful in its own right. And staying here just gives you more reasons that all you need is a view outside of this world, but of course, enjoying it in a natural private hot spring is a bonus.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant but it smelled great when we checked in!
I mostly recommend this spot for a one night stay if you’re having an adventurous vacation
This is a great location and place to stay. Very comfortable and perfect position. 2 hours from Keflavik, 20 minutes from Gulfoss.
What a place to stay, in the countryside. The couple who own the farm are very friendly. We asked to see the goats and they accommodated us. The room was great, we stopped for 5 nights and will be back, next year
Host was nice and friendly especially the goats tour. Guesthouse was very neat clean. Just little messy when taking shower. We also enjoyed the beautiful sunset from our unit. Great stay at Iceland.
Our bathroom was huge! It was nice to have the kitchen efficiency, as we made some breakfast in the morning before we left on our travels
The property is on a gorgeous piece of land. It was very quiet and peaceful. The room was clean and spacious
Lovely farm 10 min from Selfoss
Lovely remote farm outside of Selfoss. We caught the Northern lights. Helena was friendly and welcoming. We missed her 6pm goat tour but hope to come back again
Enjoyed the goat tour with the host. Clean space with a small kitchen.
My only gripe, the whirlpool tub in the room took forever to fill, was a hassle and the controls seemed to make no sense. Overall though, I would stay here again if the price is right
We stayed at the Diamond Suites for 3 nights, and it was the best. Breakfast is abundant, rooms are super clean and stylish, the staff is very kind and helpful
We checked in on a Sunday and were super pleased with our room. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. Hotel KEF is on of the best hotels we have stayed at
The bathroom was also fun with a heated toilet seat and multiple lighting options for the tub. We also enjoyed in the surround sound so we could listen to music while we relaxed!
Outstanding stay in a superb hotel, where we preferred to stay after a long day’s travel. Wonderful receptionist took great care of us with room upgrade and early check in
The hotel is conveniently located fairly close to the airport (8-minute drive) and only 10 minutes from the Blue Lagoon. Our family had an excellent time
This was an ideal place to stay. It was great to have a full apartment to use during our week in Iceland. The staff was very nice and helped us when we had issues regarding our flight and airport transportation
Spacious with a lovely balcony. Handy location - shops etc, public transport. Tea and coffee (fancy machine) topped up daily. Walking distance to 3 supermarkets. Mini bar stocked with all sorts!
Flat walking
Lift too!
Towels changed daily. Reception staff all friendly, helpful and obliging. My next place does not measure up at all
Spacious and clean room. Very comfortable bed, great kitchen. Convenient location. Staff were professional and friendly. Very happy with our stay. Recommend highly. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
The hotel is conveniently located near various restaurants, the famous hot dog place (Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur), the traditional market (Kolaportið), and the harbor where you can see the Coast Guard ships and other vessels
While I'm not sure if the antiques are genuine, it's a fun place to browse on a day off without a tour. I also recommend Sea Baron, a place right in front of the harbor that serves lobster soup
We stayed for three nights and left not thinking it was nearly enough. It was, without hesitation, the best hotel experience of my life. The hotel is small, only about 14 rooms
Very cozy, quaint hotel with exquisite service, a fantastic fixed price dinner, and hot tub / pool / sauna. Highly recommend staying here if you’re touring the Ring Road in Iceland.
Travelled as a family of five at the beginning of December and we were delighted. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The food was absolutely exceptional
We had a really lovely and special stay here. The owners make it feel quite familiar here and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The views are absolutely beautiful and the windows are squeaky clean so you can enjoy it
The food that is prepared here is spectacular! I didn’t expect that. The best thing about this hotel are of course the dogs. Tina, the black one, greeted us on arrival and stayed in our room sometimes
We were lucky enough to have plenty of snow, to experience frozen waterfalls, underground caves, vik and the black sand beach with snow all over it, and to see the northern lights
We only stayed one night so did not get to use either the indoor sauna or back deck hot tub. A little tight for five adults, so if you stay longer than a night or two I don’t recommend a full complement of six
Stayed at Gladheimar in one of the, one bedroom cabins. Great clean, comfortable and functional self catering facilities, with amenities within walking distance if required
Charming cabin within the sound of a rushing river. Peaceful despite being part of a larger campground, check in and out were very easy
Very helpful owner and Wifi within the cabin great as well, recommend a stay here if travelling in the area
You can access by bridge to the Small island next to the river, it stated it is a nature park
Very good living environment and living conditions, suitable for business trips
Beautiful venue, would highly recommend. Had been doing the ring road in a van that would last couple of days was so wonderful to come into such a cleanup, aesthetic, and calm environment to spend the night again
Originally we did not receive the code for the floor door, but the help we received was good. The room itself was very neat and tidy, and had all the equipments we need to make our stay comfortable
The breakfast was a big highlight, it’s not very often a hotel breakfast tastes like a home cooked meal!
Extra towels and even toilet paper are freely available in a cabinet in the hallway, which is such a thoughtful and practical touch
During our stay the beds were even made up again and fresh towels were provided, which felt like a real luxury
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding stay – highly recommended in Iceland!
Our stay at Blue Mountain Apartments by Heimaleiga was truly exceptional. From the very first contact until departure, everything was perfectly organized
I was only there for one night and day and would go back instantly
Very cosy place, a bit small, so I would only recommend it if you're planning to only sleep there. Got a nice gift when I entered my room
The location is a bit hidden in between buildings, but you will get a mail with good directions before you are able to check in. Very friendly owner, and she will contact you if needed
The hotel had poor soundproofing and no front desk, so those who don't speak English well should probably think twice before choosing it. The owner was very nice and let me check in early. It's very close to the church
Otherwise, the rooms were spotless and the bed was comfortable, even though they were very small. It would be nice to have a hand towel provided in each room versus the single hand towel in the shared bathroom
Very cute and cozy house in the city centre of Reykjavik. The kitchen is very basic but it had all we needed. The house is very quiet but you can hear noise from the other rooms on the same floor
We even searched for other restaurants before going in! But decided to just give it a try. After all, we were right in front of it
We went here for a late lunch. Food and coffee were great. Price on par with other restaurants. The quantities were great.
Very nice place, in perfect spot between Reykjavík and Akureyri.
Good food, nice atmosphere.
And EXTREMELY nice crew.
Doesn't matter what you'll order, they smile will make it even better.
I highly recommend.
We stopped for coffee and cake — both were excellent. The coffee was rich and well made, the cake fresh and delicious. Service was very friendly and helpful, making the visit even more enjoyable
This was a good stop on the ring road when there are not many options in the north. Room was clean, cozy comfortable and adequate. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very good
Breakfast was greatly appreciated, but there was not as many options as other hotels we had stayed at previously. Overall a good choice for a one-night stay
Bathroom is spacious but the sink it tiny, also had a heated towel rack
We thought it would be a darker area for the night sky but the school is very close and gives off a lot of light but you don't have to drive down far to find somewhere darker. Overall very nice stay for the area
We went at 730 on the first day and it was very busy when we left, but the next day it wasn't nearly as busy. We didn't have dinner there as it was extra, but there also isn't anything very close nearby
Marmalade and strawberry jam was delicious. Lots of options for everyone to choose from. Great selection of tea as well as hot coffee with non dairy options for creamer. Definitely would definitely stay again
Horses grazing nearby added a charming touch to the scenery. What truly made the experience unforgettable was the expansive sky—perfect for watching the northern lights when the weather is clear
It’s one of the best spots I’ve stayed at for enjoying nature and the magic of the aurora. Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility and breathtaking views
But everyone was very kind and we all worked around each other. You definitely need to prepare to be at least 30 + minutes from grocery, pharmacy and such so plan accordingly. Great location to explore the peninsula
The cutest cabin with the most amazing views.the staff was so friendly but i was a bit sad that i didnt get to meet thor and loki (the cats on premises) will have to take a trip back
But we just brought our own shopping bag for trash and threw it out elsewhere. The kitchen is very small if there are a few people wanting to cook or do dishes
Fantastic personal cabins! Walking distance to the beach, and was able to see the northern lights here! One of the few great places to stay outside city limits in Iceland.
What a lovely place to stay! It’s also a good spot to watch northern light if the sky is clear. The owner is very friendly. She welcomed us warmly.
Mountains on one side and ocean on the other. We enjoyed our room very much. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing to note was the trash was small in the room and the kitchen
Really nice place. But some things where missing (not enough big towels for example). However I recommend it
I stayed four nights on the Golden Circle and found this place to be incredibly helpful. I was satisfied with all the facilities and experienced no inconveniences
The kitchen was well supplied and they had a large drip coffee machine and free coffee grounds. I need to use a paper towel for a filter
If you have any requests or needs, they'll take care of them promptly
Fantastic accommodations within an even more wonderful community. Staff were kind and helpful. Sólheimar is a model of how we should all live with one another and with our Earth. Couldn’t have had a better stay!
Secluded, beautiful, clean, spacious room with its own little kitchen.they also have a common kitchen that every one can use.affordable price for family and group.
I was worried about the bugs, but when we stayed, we kept the windows open for ventilation, but no flies came in. We were satisfied with having the cottage to ourselves at a reasonable price :)
The location is good, about 40 minutes from the geyser, and it is quite dark around at night. The houses are built around three hot spring pools
You can cook in the room but there is no range hood and no seasonings, so you need to bring your own. The pots, plates, bowls and chopsticks are all complete. The room is a little small but quite suitable
Good restaurant for dinner, well equipped kitchen for breakfast and other evenings where we cooked ourselves.
Overall great stay, good location, and easy to find.
Lovely place, plenty of room for us 5, well equipped, lovely hot tub and an amazing location - would highly recommend to anyone exploring the famous golden circle!
Cozy cabin! Easy check-in. The ladder on the bunk beds was broken, but besides that it's a pleasant stay.
The rooms are wooden cottage, loves the exterior. The interior is a bit with ages, yet perfectly function. Had a huge window from the room, seeing Krafla, stars and aurora from the window, love it
Shared kitchen is cute and lovely. The breakfast is super nice with perfect view of myvatn. Got discounted ticket for Myvatn Bath from them and they helped for booking, yay!
The room size is compact but clean.
Staff are friendly
Breakfast is included and yummy 😋
Check in windows seemed to be only 1 hour. It may have been OK to arrive after the desk staff was gone, but that was not clear in our instruction. The directions made is seem like we had to arrive within a 1 hour window
The stay here was okay. Not bad but also not extraordinarily good.
We had a great stay! The sauna and hot tub at night was so nice and my toddler loved feeding the sheep (they provided us some food to give to them). The breakfast in the morning was great too!
Loved this place. Easy to locate and get to your room, cute dining room area set up for breakfast. We were able to see the Northern Lights too so overall it was a great stay.
From the decor featuring historic photos and paintings, to the sauna and hot tub, and the service provided by the family at breakfast, it is clear they care about creating an excellent experience for their guests
Property was very clean and quiet. Room had a view of the exterior fields and bed was extremely comfortable. The included breakfast had so many options, including a waffle iron and homemade jams and cheese
The breakfast was excellent - more selection than we have experienced in many hotels around the world. We expected very simple toast and cereal and were pleasantly surprised
Amazing location, the HotTub and the Sauna are a gamechanger after days in the Highlands. The Hosts are super freindly and I would book this at any time again
