We stayed at the little campsite close to the guest house. It is very silent, with the sound of the river passing close to the guest house. The campsite is sheltered from the wind by the hill which makes it even better

Warm and welcoming staff and reception desk. They let us check in late, as we arrived late, so we really appreciated it. Clean rooms at the cabins, you can feel privacy here. surrounded by mountains and forest

Great stay Stayed here for two nights in August and had a great time. We didn’t do the breakfast but we did dinner one night and it was great (I had the vegetable soup, highly recommend!)

We stayed in one of the cabins and there was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The area is beautiful and quiet. Staff were helpful and breakfast was great

This is a beautiful, remote area away from town. We had beautiful weather and could see the snow-capped mountains out our window.

We only stayed 1 night on our trip around the ring road but we would have been comfortable staying here much longer

If you walk over to the parking lot with the signs you can see the map of the area/trails and various points of interest - including gamli baer and its history. I would definitely recommend this place - great value too

About 5 minutes drive before the location there is also spectacular waterfalls. The host is very kind; he makes breakfast and dinner. The soup at the dinner is the host specialty. Served hot, delicious, and filling

Near the location you have nice hiking trails, or challenging ones, depending how fit you are :) You can go up a little and have a spectacular view towards Langjokull glacier

We were there during begin winter, inside was very hot, and easy to get to with car. I liked that it was in the middle of nowhere - which is great for Nordic Lights

Absolutely recommend this place for anyone traveling through Iceland. The host was amazingly kind and showed us the cultural aspects and where to go

The Gamli Guesthouse was an amazing stay in Iceland. The landlord was super hospitable and as we entered we were met with fresh waffles and coffee

Saw Northern lights just outside our room. Can cook your oen breakfast. Plenty of room to gather and eat in dining area - breakfast on your own.

Clean and comfortable This place was clean, quiet and comfortable. There was a kitchen for use, although we had nothing to prepare there. Room was large.

Frankly, I wasn’t expecting much from a restaurant located right off a hotel reception area. However, to my surprise, the entire dish was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare, tender and flavorful

Our group was divided into super nice cottages of this hotel. We, being 4 people, received a very big and nice apartment, fully equipped, we were pleasantly surprised. And the breakfast was good, quite varied

The Aldan restaurant serves as the headquarters for the 3-house hotel. Neat and clean, the restaurant is staffed by beautiful Nordic goddesses who are as friendly and cheerful as they are helpful

Nice setting, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food! It is definitely meant for the experience of dining, and it was approximately two hours from entering and to leaving, but it was well worth it

The custard had just the right thickness, the sugar topping was caramelized to a perfect golden crunch, and the rhubarb integrated into the custard provided a bright, balanced flavor

My server, Cristina from Spain, was funny, friendly, and extremely helpful when it came time to choose from my options. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée, which was also excellent

My friends and I loved this place. I will never forget the conversation I had with the owner. She learned that I spoke Icelandic, so she asked me one or two questions and told me I sounded just like an Icelander

Ekra cottages is an amazing place to stay for a couple of days. It is quite difficult to find it in the map but its possible. The owner is very friendly & lives 1 km away from the cottages

The cottage is extremely spacious, clean & beautiful. There are all the amenities inside including Heater, TV, fully equipped kitchen etc

Very comfortable accommodation with many facilities in a lovely location. Hospitable and helpful host.

It is a little expensive compared to other accommodations in Iceland but totally worth an experience

The room was very nice, warm and cozy, perfect for arriving after a rainy day. There is no staff on-site, but we didn't miss anything. The surrounding area is beautiful.

The property was ok, very strange floors that felt like outdoor pool flooring. Clean and quiet, very basic, comfortable beds, we did not see a single staff member during our stay.

The bedroom size is huge, so you can fit your stuff easily. The self check in work just fine. The bedroom has heater and it worked very good (considering the size of the room)

: The supermarkets nearby close early and the other stores open till late doesn't have a lot of options (and it's expensive) so prepare yourself before go to your stay

Although small, it was well-equipped. The only downside was the soundproofing, which could be improved. But for a B&B, the environment was great

Had a lovely time at the guesthouse - check-in was easy and straightforward. Rooms were tidy, clean, and showers were well kept.

We stayed in a campervan not a cottage, but this had everything we needed! It was about 5000 ISK for 2 people. We stayed in October so there were only about 4 other vans and no midges (bugs) that other people experienced

There is a common kitchen where guests can cook and clean after themselves. Bathrooms and showers are clean. Heaters are set to very hot temperature. We ended up opening our window for fresh air

There was a problem with the hot water when we checked in, and a number of people in the reception office complaining, but the woman at the desk handled it all with impressive professionalism

The amenities were nice and had everything we needed: showers, toilets, cooking tent. The toilets had the heat cranked inside so it was very warm. Showers are communal with no curtains

Not sure why previous guests complain about the bugs as they must have came the wrong time of year, so that’s on them. Hardly any bugs here in mid Aug, perfect cool weather

We stayed in a brand new cabin and although the door was fussy, it was cozy and served its purpose. I liked looking out over the lava flows to the lake.

I loved staying here a couple of nights to dodge some Icelandic weather. The owner Gunnar was hilarious (very dry sense of humour) really helpful and friendly, as is his daughter Isabella (apologies for any misspelling)

For Iceland the price they charge is really low price and it's fair, because as a young traveller you don't have that much money and it's nice if you can go without spending a fortune and still have a comfortable bed (yes, you have actual BEDS in this hostel, not some old shaky bunk beds like in many other hostels)

(Very) late arrival was no problem at all, I sent an email and they responded within an hour, arranged everything for me and I had a warm and cozy bed waiting for me after a very long and tiring drive

The owner was awesome! The room was very cute and modern. The shared kitchen and restroom was nice and had everything we needed. The owner helped us get our car out of the snow after the snowstorm

Bathroom / restroom is very clean as well, you also have a sink in the room, which is nice, so you don't have to go to the bathroom to shave/brush your teeth. Really appreciated the hospitability

The kitchen is also very good, I was missing a stove, but then again you have free tea/coffee which is awesome. The staff/owner is very nice as well

Only hand soap available in bathroom but that comes with the territory, not even the nicest places we stayed in Iceland would qualify as luxury by US standards. Recommend for anyone going to this area of the country

The view is amazing from the cottage! When we woke up it snowed for the first time this winter and it was spectacular and amazing. We almost stayed one more night because we loved this place so much

It was a beautiful environment! The mountains and the stream and the waterfall. Beautiful. A cosy little cabin with two bedrooms. We could cosy up on the couch as well and watch a movie.

Cottages need to be just assigned by the numbers. 2 rooms with 2 single beds in each and a sofa that pulls out to a double bed. They have signs for different sights to see in the area

Stunning location and scenery all around, but very pricey. Stayed only for 1 night, but the drive to and out of the cottage was spectacular. Barn restaurant only option for food.

There was a small description about the farm and history of accommodation and it was very very cute. Ever thinking of visiting East Iceland, would highly suggest this spot

Great cottage with good facilities, good sized bedrooms and a patio. Easy to find, check in, park and a short drive to the town. Stayed for two nights as a family

The guesthouse is in the middle of road 1 near Eglisstadir where you have gas station and convenience store. The room is spacious and there’s enough parking space outside

One minor complaint was the smoke alarm was on the kitchen counter without a battery and we got no reply from the owner when we messaged about this

The rooms are fairly basic, but offer everything one needs for an overnight stay. You can even make some coffee, it has a refrigerator, which was convenient to store our things

The place is clean, the check-in is easy and the location is easy to find. There is a large parking space in front of the house

We stsyed here for one night, this is a house in selfoss, where owners live in the same house with guests, the bathroom is not private and you share your dining, living area and the kitchen with the owners, our room was attached to the kitchen wall so we could hear them cooking and talking in the kitchen

Unlike some of the guesthouses in Iceland, this was more like an airbnb where we were clearly living in a spare room in someone's house. They converted their garage into rudimentary shower and bathroom for guests

Guesthouse a few kilometers away from Husavik. The house has 5 double bedrooms, a fairly equipped kitchen, a nice dining room and a corner with sofa and coffee table. The facility is clean and functional

Value for money, excellent quiet location and a beautiful setting by the river. We did not see any staff during our time - the keys to our rooms were simply left on a table in the foyer

Very clean and lots of space in the kitchen for cooking your own meals. The rooms are pretty basic with beds and nightstands. We had 3 rooms and they varied in size, one was very tiny

Outdoors there are games (swings. The house is on the banks of a stream. Very characteristic! Recommended!

Cozy guest house with big common area, a electrical piano and free coffee/tea. Feels more like a nice hotel if not considering the washrooms being outside the room. The showers and toilets are organized and very clean.

We loved our stay! This guesthouse is in the perfect location if you just visited or are about to visit Hengifoss. The guesthouse is clean, spacious, and there were sinks in the rooms which we thought was very helpful

This is the most cost-effective hotel along the way. It is about 10 minutes' drive from the town. The room is very clean, the mountain view opposite is very beautiful, and there is breakfast

The breakfast was wanderful with bread cooked at home. You have areas for walking long distance in nuture. The shower and toilet is common but it is big enough and clean so no worries

Not as long as I thought it would be, beautiful and bright, shops on either side, lovely little gift shops, places to eat and get a coffee,very pretty and unique, keep walking past the colours and it leads you right to the hallgrimsta

We had a great experience staying at Rainbow Guesthouse. The house is very clean and orderly. The location is absolutely perfect! It is in the heart of the city and only minutes walk from many of the fun things to do

We stopped in today for a late lunch even though we weren't staying at the hotel. The service, atmosphere and views are amazing. Locally caught Cod and hand battered and fried. It's was perhaps the best I've ever had

It was an old boarding school from the late 20s and in modern times converted to a hotel / restaurant. The entire village was built around it and because of it

My wife had the chicken salad and loved it. If you are driving by, definitely stop in for a meal and a history lesson about this area

We had the family apartment with our own kitchen and living room. It was perfect for the 5 of is. The staff is very friendly and helpful. In the lobby was anlot of antique furniture and some toys and books for kids

A building full of history, well-maintained both inside and out. The interior has many old photos and items that help us understand its history, which is wonderful

We stayed for three nights and left not thinking it was nearly enough. It was, without hesitation, the best hotel experience of my life. The hotel is small, only about 14 rooms

Travelled as a family of five at the beginning of December and we were delighted. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The food was absolutely exceptional

We had a really lovely and special stay here. The owners make it feel quite familiar here and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The views are absolutely beautiful and the windows are squeaky clean so you can enjoy it

The food that is prepared here is spectacular! I didn’t expect that. The best thing about this hotel are of course the dogs. Tina, the black one, greeted us on arrival and stayed in our room sometimes

We were lucky enough to have plenty of snow, to experience frozen waterfalls, underground caves, vik and the black sand beach with snow all over it, and to see the northern lights

For the best experience, bring some groceries with you if you’d like to cook, enjoy the quiet atmosphere, and use it as a hub for exploring nearby sights such as Vatnajökull National Park, Stokksnes, and the glaciers

Pretty good location, not too far from the city. Well equipped guests house with everything you need even for longer stay! We were pleasantly surprised. Very clean and tidy. Absolutely would recommend to my friends

Came to see the northern lights, but no luck tonight. Kitchen and bathroom facilities present. Felt like a cute youth hostel, with card games in the dining area, and funny quotes all around the building

Julia had great suggestions for things to visit and seems to really enjoy hosting and meeting new people. This place also has excellent mountain views that includes views of the volcano that erupted in 2010

Julia's guesthouse was excellent! We chose to have both dinner and breakfast at the guesthouse. We shared the shower facilities with others but had a private half bath connected to our private room

Lovely hosts, beautifully decorated house, excellent breakfast and a unique welcome by three birds, two cats and a fluffy rabbit in one of Iceland's hubs of hospitality.

2 shared toilets/bathrooms that were big and clean. The kitchen is equipped with toaster and oven and a good variety of food for meals. Unfortunately, wifi did not work on the day we checked in

I was spend one night in this guest house because i was doing a road trip in a campervan and it was breakdown, The hire company pay us a night here and was awesome, very clean, beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is great

We loved staying at this property! The quietness was lovely. The fridge was stocked for breakfast which was appreciated and the hot tub was wonderful after many days of hikes

Staff took a while to come over to inspect the problem but could not resolve it

We only stayed one night so did not get to use either the indoor sauna or back deck hot tub. A little tight for five adults, so if you stay longer than a night or two I don’t recommend a full complement of six

Stayed at Gladheimar in one of the, one bedroom cabins. Great clean, comfortable and functional self catering facilities, with amenities within walking distance if required

Charming cabin within the sound of a rushing river. Peaceful despite being part of a larger campground, check in and out were very easy

Very helpful owner and Wifi within the cabin great as well, recommend a stay here if travelling in the area

You can access by bridge to the Small island next to the river, it stated it is a nature park
