Residence Archimede in Syracuse

Positives:
Very good swimming pool
Beautiful exterior (garden)
Relatively new, spacy apparrments
Negatives :
Unprofessional staff (including the owner, 150-ish kilos guy with mini dog, Russian tycoon look), trying to strip your money off asking for 5 EURtowel fee (each) plus deposit, 60 EUR fee for staying at a pool after checkout, 100+ EUR late checkout fee (check out time is 10:30)
Nice pool but without entry stairs
Dirty furniture
Large bathroom yet with tiny shower space (why?)
Moldy bathroom
Missing practical access to the sea ( there is an access across the corn field to the rocky and dirty part of the seashore)
Appartnents are having kitchen but WITHOUT any equipment AT ALL (no glasses, plates, knive & forks, indeed nothing). Really bizarre....
Summary:
Although other accommodation options around Siracusa are also not great, look somewhere else - you will not feel good here

The complex is set in a beautiful, quiet, and peaceful location, largely due to its remote setting. However, it’s important to note that there are no nearby shops or conveniences. Without personal transportation, accessing food or drink options is nearly impossible.

As for the on-site restaurant, unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The service was extremely disappointing, with staff being unprofessional and occasionally pretending not to speak English. The food quality was also subpar. For example, the pasta was undercooked, and no attention was paid to dietary concerns, such as allergies. The pork dish lacked flavor and felt poorly prepared.

Moreover, there were several unpleasant hygiene issues. Ants were present on the tables, and the coffee machine was visibly infested, which was quite concerning.

In summary, while the location of the complex is serene, the dining experience and lack of accessibility to basic amenities make it difficult to recommend.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and I have to say the food was extremely disappointing. The breakfast, in particular, was almost non-existent. There were hardly any options, and what little food was available was of poor quality. It felt like they didn’t bother to restock or care about their guests’ experience. For the price I paid, I expected much more, but instead, I left hungry and frustrated every morning. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who values a decent meal during their stay.
