This is heaven on earth. The views , the food, the service . All stellar . I cried when we left. Pietro and Danny have created a magical Place. I could not have envisioned a better experience . Every evening Spritz’ on the patio and dinner served after. A gourmet 3 course meal reasonably priced. Highly highly recommend

Our ten-day vacation at Agriturismo La Lucciolaia was a dream come true. The property is perfectly positioned for tranquility and privacy with amazing views of San Gimignano and the surrounding countryside. What’s more, in an hour of gentle hiking from this converted farmhouse through vineyards and fields, we reached San Gimignano in a unique, breathtaking way. La Lucciolaia itself has been lovingly tended to and thoughtfully developed over these past two years by Pietro and Danny, Italians who also speak French and English, who have significant experience in the service industry in Italy and abroad, and who are just as in love with their Tuscan surroundings as their guests. Pietro and Danny helped to make our vacation perhaps the best family trip we have ever taken. Attentive, kind, and discreet, they shared interesting details of their vineyards and wines and created delicious dinner menus with local products. They were welcoming of old and young alike; our eleven-year-old daughter, for example, always felt included in the hosts’ consistently kind communication. Pietro was always on hand to greet us warmly and to answer any questions we had about the region or our room. The rooms themselves are clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with original art by local artisans. One of the sweetest spots in this sweet spot is La Lucciolaia’s terrace. Late afternoons, after day trips to Florence or Siena or Pienza, we often found ourselves here, enjoying a glass of their wine (so many delicious choices, all produced by La Lucciolaia) and watching how the sun and clouds transformed the sky and fields, San Gimignano’s towers a constant companion. But it’s not just the nature surrounding the place that is stunning; La Lucciolaia itself is a work of art, with decorated tables and sculptures by Pietro’s artist father beautifying the space. We felt deeply lucky to have stayed at La Lucciolaia this spring. Indeed, we’re trying to figure out how we can return ancora una volta. Grazie, Pietro e Danny!

This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay in Tuscany. The views of San Gimignano, the vineyards and olive groves were stunning. Our room was perfect and felt very authentically appointed. We had a patio from which we could watch the sunset each evening. The 3 course dinner offered was outstanding. We ate there 3 of 4 nights and were very happy with it. Some of the courses were over the top wonderful. The breakfast was just fine--a combination of sweet and savory options. I don't understand another reviewer's criticism of the breakfast offering. Based on our experience elsewhere in Italy it seems to be typical Italian style. We loved the croissants, pecorino cheese and meats, and especially fresh tomatoes with their olive oil. For those that enjoy sets in the morning there were great options. We took a cooking class while there which was informative and so much fun. I definately recommend it. I only wish we had booked the second class they offer. We also enjoyed a wine tasting one evening on the patio. We loved their wines especially enjoyed among the gorgeous views. Pietro and Danny, the proprietors, were responsive, helpful and so personable. I don't know what happened related to the negative review from July '23 regarding a noise complaint, but based on our experience it is hard to believe the couple was just talking and using the restroom in the middle of the night. One of the wonderful aspects of this location is that compared to Rome or Sorrento, it is quiet and peaceful. Being respectful of other guests is common sense. I don't think it is reasonable to suggest soundproofing is needed in this restored environment. It is unnecessary. In sum we had a wonderful experience at this reasonable price agritourismo and would absolutely love to return.

Good: - Amazing views of San Gimignano and of Tuscan scenery from around the grounds of the Agriturismo. - The Agriturismo is well kept and tidy all around. - The pool area is very nice and the pool is warm enough in summer to swim without being too cold. - Rooms are of traditional Italian style but are very clean. Satisfactory: - Breakfast was continental (pastry, cereal, yoghurt, toast, tea and coffee). It was ok and to be expected at this price point, but it became boring after a few days as produce was not varied. - The rooms are basic, they contain only the very basic essentials. Bad: - We received a knock at the door from Pietro at 1am, stating he had received a noise complaint. We were told to keep quiet. However, we were making no more noise than any normal guest. We were simply talking to each other and using the toilet, shower and opening the wardrobe/bedside tables. We were told that a neighbouring guest heard shouting and what they thought was "moving furniture". Pietro, was quite distressed, confrontational and dismissive in his tone which we did not appreciate. Me and my partner have travelled extensively over a number of years and have NEVER received a noise complaint. I believe if you pay for a room with a bathroom facility, you should be able to use this at any time of the day and night irrespective of the time. If noise of this kind is such an issue, then the owners of the Agriturismo should invest in better soundproofing the walls/floors and purchase quieter wardrobes and side cabinets that are less clunky. Failing this, it should be clearly advertised prior to booking that guests are not to make any kind of noise after a certain time. This was an uncomfortable experience and not what I would expect in the modern day. Had we known that absolute silence was expected during the night, we would have booked elsewhere.

This our first time visiting an agriturismo and we are happy we chose La Lucciolaia! What a peaceful, beautiful and lovely place to stay with amazing hosts! We will definitely come back! Pietro made sure our stay was amazing and be sure to try all of the different home made wines!

We excitedly returned to La Lucciolaia this summer after our first memorable trip here a year ago in the spring. Our second stay was just as delightful, with the warm and attentive welcome of Pietro and Danny. This time, we were able to enjoy the refreshing pool, the greener vineyards at this time of year, and the gorgeous outdoor spaces for drinking La Lucciolaia's own distinctive wines. Beautiful views, quiet and comfortable air conditioning and beds, lovely walks nearby... Danny and Pietro were always on hand with kind conversation and delicious, varied breakfasts, working tirelessly to make our stay a perfect experience. While we happily explored towns and regions nearby (we are frequent and passionate travelers of Italy and especially Tuscany), we found we were happiest when we were relaxing by the pool surrounded by La Lucciolaia's vineyards or sipping a glass of their Vernaccia while admiring San Gimignano from this elegant podere. Grazie mille, Pietro e Danny. A presto!.

My husband & I have both traveled internationally throughout the years but it is a rare find to discover a place that checks all the boxes. We were scheduled to spend one night at La Lucciolaia in San Gimignano but quickly changed our minds and grabbed at the one vacancy that allowed us to stay a total of 4 nights. Accommodating hosts? Absolutely! Pietro & Danny could not do enough to make this our most memorable stop. After 16 days on the road, we were delighted to unpack & relax by the pool among the vineyards & olive grove…and every medieval walled city we wanted to see was close by. We’ll be going back!
