Togari Onsen Alpen Plaza in Iiyama

Overall Impression: I stayed here as part of a tour, so I'm not sure of the nightly rate, but I was disappointed by the numerous additional charges throughout my stay. Furthermore, the rude attitude of the front desk staff made for a very unpleasant experience. I don't think I'll be staying here again.

Room: I stayed in the main building. The futons and other bedding were very old and worn. The heating was completely ineffective, leaving the room cold, which made it difficult to fall asleep. Towels came with an extra charge of 400 yen. When I wanted to use the bath after checking out, a staff member rudely reprimanded me, saying, 'Didn't we tell you to return the towels at check-out?' The slippers were also very uncomfortable and slippery, making them rather dangerous.

Bath: The hot spring itself was great, but having only one hairdryer was very inconvenient. We were also informed that using the bath after checkout would cost an additional 400 yen. Of course, I paid the extra fee, but they repeatedly announced over the PA system, 'There's an additional 400 yen charge for using the bath after checkout, so please proceed to the front desk to pay if you haven't already.'

Service: While the male receptionist seemed very unfriendly and had a poor attitude, the staff in the dining hall were very kind and helpful.

Food: The portion sizes were quite small, but I found the taste to be decent.

Access: Access to the ski slopes was advertised as 3-4 minutes, but it felt more like 7-8 minutes on foot. The ski lift was approximately 10 minutes away. It felt quite a distance to walk in ski boots while carrying ski equipment.
