Hodakaso Sanganoyu in Takayama

The hotel has 2 parts, one old and one new side. It was full during the New Year and we (2 of us) were in the old side.
The room has nothing fancy, it was old, the carpet as well (should be changed). It was expensive for nothing. The view was facing the backyard fountain which was nice from the lobby, but noisy for guests in the room.
Staffs were nice and one of them (grey hair man) could speak a bit of english.
Public onsen was nice and clean. Spent a nice time in the open air bath under the snow. The private open air bath definitely worth it (1hr: 1,000jpy), but no shower is available, so better take it in the public bath before.
Breakfast was nice.
Location: convenient and closed to Hirayu Onsen bus Terminal, tourism office, souvenirs shop, coffee shop

The onsens were wonderful. I did both the public Onsen (free ) and the private Onsen (pay 1000 yen).
Both were great, but I thought the public Onsen was much better because it was bigger and had a better view!
The place was beautiful and comfortable. Very clean as well.
I wouldn’t recommend guests to go for the Japanese dinner in the ryokan though. I kinda thought it wasn’t that great. And i wasn’t very sure what I was eating and if I was eating it right. However, I still enjoyed my stay. Would have loved to stay there for a couple more days to relax.

Good place to stay and enjoy Onsen. Pick the right time and you may have the public onsen for your own. Japanese room was ok but the heater quite dusty. so those with sensitive noise please take note.

Outdoor female onsen was nice! Futon was comfy, and the room was clean. Also, snacks provided each day was pretty sweet, no pun intended lol. Nearby to the bus to town made it convenient, and service was great; but beware, most people cannot speak English.

Very nice ryokan with an excellent outdoor onsen. The meals are excellent and generous. Take much effort to finish the food.

Great value for the price.

strongly recomend to use private hot spring.（costs extra¥1,000/1h,needs reservation）
so you can take a bath with your partner.
caution:there is no shower.so you would better use public hot spring first,then go to reservation bath.
Dinner is also good. there are some pieces of Hida beef.They are enough for ordinary Japanese people.
