Yushou Fukujikan in Takayama

It feels like a long-established, compact inn, and has a great nostalgic atmosphere!
The hearth has a nice atmosphere, and the rooms are the epitome of a good, old-fashioned Japanese inn.
I took a bath a total of four times.
It's a shame that you can't use the open-air bath, but the good things more than make up for it!!
I'd definitely like to stay again!!

I wanted to enjoy a wonderful time with a great bath and delicious food. I wanted to indulge in luxury and savor every moment. This inn was perfect for that. Although the open-air bath was unavailable and only the family bath was open, the water was exceptional. It felt great on my skin, the temperature was perfectly adjusted, and the clean bathroom, though unpretentious, was a place where I could forget about time and take a deep breath. The meals, too, skillfully utilized local ingredients, and I savored them slowly. Beef, pork, fish, vegetables—everything was served at a temperature that brought out the best in the ingredients, and like the bath, it felt wonderfully soothing to the body. My mind and body slowly relaxed.

I lay down by the hearth. I could hear the sounds of the river and mountains, but even those sounds reached me gently from afar, allowing me to savor the time and atmosphere of that place.

It seems to be run by a family. The thoughtfulness and unpretentious kindness that permeated the place made for a very pleasant stay.

Last time I visited Okuhida Onsenkyo, I happened to go to a pub in Fukuchi Onsen (it was so delicious!), discovered Fukuchi Onsen, and have been wanting to stay there ever since. And finally, I made it!!

Unfortunately, the open-air bath was under repair and unavailable, but the water quality was excellent.

Honestly, it might be my favorite hot spring in Okuhida Onsenkyo.

It's a slightly faintly scented sulfur spring that warms you up really well.

The food was also delicious.

It's a truly wonderful and rustic hot spring town, and I want to come back again.

This time, the deep winter snowscape was truly magical and beautiful.

Also, I wanted to buy some Fukuchi sweets as souvenirs, but I forgot to buy them... they were delicious.

One night trip for my husband and I on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Our first visit to Fukuji Onsen in Oku-Hida Onsenkyo.

It was snowing lightly, but snowplows were busy along the way (National Highways 158 and 471), so we were able to drive comfortably with our studless tires.

We booked a 7.5-tatami Japanese-style room through Jalan. They seemed to have a vacancy on the day, so they changed it to a 10-tatami Japanese-style room.

There was a toilet in the room.

The bath was a natural hot spring, with just the right temperature.
You can use it privately when it's available, no reservations necessary.
Wonderful.

Many inns in Oku-Hida Onsenkyo offer free private baths.
There were only a few other guests, so it was always available.
The shower had great water pressure.
Very satisfied.

Dinner, rice, and Hida beef (grilled and steamed) were delicious.
I was very satisfied.
Breakfast included Hoba miso.
After-meal coffee was self-service.
Very satisfied.

The service was also very friendly.
Very satisfied.

If I make a reservation online through their website, can I stay for multiple nights? Do they not accept consecutive nights? That's a shame.

I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity.
