Mosaic Machiya KSK in Kyoto

Not near the train station but buses are readily available. Love the ambience along the streets and the shops looks great during the evening with the lights on. Room is tiny as the mattresses were placed together without any gaps in between. If you have lots of luggage with you this hotel might not be suitable. Near a shrine which is worth a visit. We missed the morning market and tea demonstration. So find out more information from the receptionist.

I really liked this place; my traveling companion didn't. I liked the atmosphere and the district. He didn't care for the lack of public space in the hostel or places he could prepare/eat food that weren't at the bar downstairs.

Very good service and best location to stay here in Kyoto. Very nice clerks he and she both can speak in English. Very clean room, Good bed, very clean bathroom + toilet. I recommended

Gorgeous little guest house in the middle of Kyoto's oldest kagai (entertainment district). Staff go out of their way to help make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful experience! We stayed at the Mosiac Guesthouse for 6 nights and we really felt at home. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The space is always spotless and organized. We loved sleeping on the tatami mats and taking a bath in the traditional deep japanese steal tub. The vibe was a mix of traditional japanese style, yet mixed with modern comforts. We came to happy hour almost every night and coffee every morning in the bar/lounge. The location is amazing. The street is surreal and quaint... the oldest geisha district in the city. And we did end up seeing a geisha on her way home from an event on our second night. It was pretty thrilling. We recommend renting bikes (the staff can point you to the place) and spend two days biking to all of the temples to the west of this district... especially Arashiyama. It was an hour bike ride away but having a bike there was so amazing! And there are some awesome views and cool streets along the way. Enjoy!
