Massive snow form over the weekend of Feb 7-9 2026. Communication with the hotel was putting me on the verge of a mental breakdown because they weren’t giving us the most updated info. I had a big luggage with me and asked the staff if they could hrko me push it up the hill as the hotel is located at the bottom of a steep slope. This was not disclosed on the hotel website, which was deceiving. The staff said they’re not responsible for moving luggage outside the accom, which is ridiculous. With the massive snowstorm, the unshoveled roads and the steep slope, it’s the hotels responsibility to help guests under these conditions. They were dodging their duties. Overall, the communication with the staff has been one of the worst experiences and lack of professionalism was truly disappointing. The service industry in Japan has unmistakably declined.

A wonderful authentic Japanese experience. Great service despite us not speaking the same language (They are very adept at using Google translate). Good Location for Hakone Open Air Museum and for being able to get on the bus back to the station early before it gets so crowded it doesn't stop for more passengers. I didn't manage to use the pass for the baths over the road, but great to have that included in the price if you do have time. Some lovely gardens right opposite the hotel.

The room size was pretty good, offering great value for money considering it's in the mountains and part of a well-known chain. We could even access the hot spring park at the sister hotel across the way, though we didn't go in since we weren't with kids. The complimentary dinner was a set menu, not the yakiniku buffet we initially thought, but with an extra dish, it was pretty much enough for two. There's also a big Family Mart convenience store at the sister hotel, perfect for stocking up on supplies. In the evening, it was lovely to relax in our hotel's hot spring. Even though it's a public bath, it's small, cozy, and has outdoor pools. The hotel is conveniently located right by Kowakien Station and Horaiden. I have to say, Japanese gardens are incredibly small and refined; every spot is meticulously kept and elegant. My only regret was slipping on a steep slope after getting off the bus. I scraped my skin a bit before my hot spring soak, which definitely became a memorable part of the trip.

I stayed here for sightseeing in Hakone and to visit Yunessun. It's a tranquil ryokan with a small number of guests, so I could enjoy a peaceful stay. The room was spacious compared to a business hotel, very clean, and allowed for a relaxing time. I had already planned to visit an onsen, so the lack of a private bath wasn't an issue. Since there are few guest rooms, the public bath was almost like a private rental at certain times. Even otherwise, it was never crowded, and I didn't have to wait in line. They were accommodating with requests like luggage storage before and after check-in/out. I enjoyed the Yunessun pass and breakfast included.

There's no restaurant inside the ryokan, so you'll need to buy food elsewhere. Although it seems to be part of the Yunessun group, there's no shuttle bus. There's a steep slope from the ryokan to the bus stop and to Yunessun, where there's a convenience store, so walking up and down was quite challenging. Furthermore, some parts of the 'sidewalk' weren't properly maintained, and there were few streetlights, so I was almost hit by a car at night, which was scary. I had to use my phone's flashlight to get back to the ryokan (though this isn't an issue the ryokan alone can fix).

Location-wise, it's convenient for taking a bus to Owakudani and Hakone Shrine, so I'd recommend it. I encountered other guests only a handful of times, which made me feel like I had the place to myself – I really liked this ryokan. Thank you.

Overall, my stay was very satisfying. The hotel's location is convenient, with smooth traffic access nearby, making it perfect for both sightseeing and business trips.

The room was spacious and clean, with well-maintained facilities. The bed was comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, allowing for a restful sleep. The amenities were complete and of good quality, showing attention to detail.

The staff were friendly and professional; I experienced excellent service quality from check-in to check-out. They were prompt and thoughtful in responding to my needs. Fantastic!

The environment and service were satisfying, but the transportation was a bit inconvenient. It's more suitable for a weekend drive to relax and enjoy the hot springs. However, overall, it's still highly recommended, and I hope to stay here again if I get the chance on my next trip to Hakone.

This hotel is nestled in the mountains of Hakone so it's very peaceful and quiet. Room and amenities are new and extremely clean. The surroundings are also worth checking out, with a park just opposite and a waterfall nearby. Major bonus if you go in autumn as the maple trees will turn flaming red. Another big pro is the free access to the Yunessun onsens (free rental of towels and swimsuit upon showing that you're staying at the hotel). The indoor onsen has funky pools like coffee, red wine and green tea, but the real gem is the Mori no yu outdoor onsen. Once in the onsen, remember to go down the steps to discover many more pools below with nice surroundings and mountain view.

Also a shoutout to the hotel staff who are incredibly kind and helpful. It's a small hotel with only 3 levels. No escalators or lifts but the staff will help to carry your luggage upon check in and check out. A kind staff even checked whether I have an umbrella when I was about to go out because it might rain. I daresay this is my favourite hotel amongst all the hotels I've stayed in.

Excellent hot springs bath, indoor and outdoor, but no bathroom in your room. Small hotel so it's very quiet, not many people. Service is average, serve yourself. Bedroom is very clean and spacious.

Conveniently located next to the Horai-en bus stop. Yunessun pass is very valued, providing access to top-notched Japanese traditional onsen and pools. Very warm service and staff. Would be improved with drinking water in a communal bath and restaurant for a better breakfast experience.
