Hakone, 1244-2 Sengokuhara (7 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Both bed was sunken in. Room was clean and big definitely worth the money. However staff was unfriendly and couldn't understand English much
We can’t recommend Hotel Kagetsuen enough and would opt to stay there again on our next visit to Hakone
The private bath is really a plus! There are four and no wait line. I had used it twice during my overnight stay
The Japanese dinner is quite delicious too! The surprise was that it snowed, adding extra aesthetic touch
This hotel was a bit aged but well maintained. They have both public and private bath for the guest to use. Some facilities is not very convenient but still usable.
Located near two bus stops, easy access to public transportation makes Hotel Kagetsuen a convenient place to stay. It seems well-managed, with amenities provided as promised, and facilities that are clean and working

First of all, I have to praise the Japanese-style detailed service. The wheels of the suitcase were cleaned and each facility and room function was introduced in detail. A total of 68,000yan for 1 hotel room and 2 meals
I didn't realize that dinner would be a kaiseki meal, including sashimi and other raw seafood, and I didn't tell the restaurant in advance that I didn't want seafood, so I was in a bit of a pickle
This is an old hotel that started in 1890. It feels like living in history. The reception staff is very warm and thoughtful. There are 6 hot springs that I really like. The dinner is also very exquisite.
Staying in the Meiyi room, you can see the gurgling spring water and green trees outside the window, which is very comfortable! The wooden Japanese-style building is exquisite and elegant, and the private bath is very classic and private
The location is in Tonosawa, at the intersection of the bridge. Although the food is not the best, the single-order drinks are not expensive. It is very artistic on rainy days
This building, built in 1890, offers a complete immersion into the country's culture and history. Excellent service, wonderful onsen, and delicious meals.

The staff were so friendly and helpful and accommodating. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a nice selection of foods and the beer pouring machine was great. I was able to drive to many spots from this location
like this hotel, value for money. they have indoor and outdoor onsen. reception staff speak fluent english and very helpful to help us to make a toll free call to tokyo.
Loved the traditional Japanese design of the rooms! The best thing was the hot spring bath inside the hotel on a balcony, which is even open during the night
The hotel dinner was wonderful, there was so much food (Japanese tapas style), some of it prepared directly at the table
The bathroom taps/shower were a bit of a nightmare to get to a decent temperature and volume. The onsen was very functional and was extremely hot. Yukata provided and get to choose the size which is nice extra
If you want to let one rip, they can hear you. If you want to sneeze your brains out, they can hear you. The bathroom is small and it really seems like a business hotel changed to a family friendly room

But the best part was when we discovered our room: traditional Japanese, beautiful architecture and design, and having a private onsen inside the room. You can also have a bath in other onsens inside the hotel
Which, logically, is not down in the valley. If you are a good walker and have little luggage, you can easily walk from the station. Lawsons, 7eleven and various restaurants are just around the corner
This boutique inn is located in the Hakone Onsen area. While it doesn't have a large public bath, it boasts three private baths available at any time, suitable for 2, 3, and 4 people respectively
My stay was from January 1st to 2nd, so the meals were specially prepared by the chef for the New Year, available only for two days – a bit of luck! This inn is perfect for couples and would be even more suitable for those traveling by car
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The Japanese-style room was very spacious, clean and beautiful. We also really liked the small onsen in our room, which was pleasantly warm
TV doesn't connect to Netflix but I think the purpose of a trip here should be yo disconnect and allows you to do just that! Spacious relative to rooms we stayed at in Tokyo Definitely recommend and wish id booked more days

I had a great stay with my brother. Lovely breakfast and dinner. Facilities were clean and functioning well. Staff was kind and helpful. The location is a bit uphill, prepare to walk on an incline for 5 minutes.
🐼Environment: comfortable and quiet 🐼Food: Dinner is delicious 🐼Service: The waiter patiently introduced each dish and answered our questions carefully. 🐼Address: It’s quite close to the “Park Downtown” bus stop.
When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink and snacks, and then we took a short break and went into the hot springs. The food was excellent, and the staff were all nice. I would love to stay here again.
This was my third time here and I was once again very satisfied with the consistent service and food. The food in particular was creative and delicious, with dishes that I wouldn't normally be able to eat
What a beautiful area. Serene environment. Prebooking of hot stone spa and jacuzzi were easily done once registration online was complete.
Very impressed with the dinner. Tempanyaki style. Cooked on the spot. Very elaborate dinner with finer details.Treat you like king. Bravo

Relaxation for body and soul - definitely about this hotel!! If there was an opportunity, we would gladly stay longer!! Private onsen in the room and dinner and breakfast in the buffet style, after which you can't leave the table - awesome!!!!)))))
Everything was great! Thank to all staff. I like room with big bath. Food was delicious!
We stayed just after golden week 2025. The in-room onsen was amazing. The bed was comfy and had ample extra pillows and bedding. The room had vast amounts of space
The resort is a bit dated but the amenities are still good and the food provided was amazing
We stay 2 nights including 4 meals. Buffet 8/10
It was cheap and good. The room was old, but the food was reasonably tasty.

A lovely authentic Japanese experience. Food was plentiful and to a high standard just not to my Western palate. A menu would have been good to help identify some of the dishes. We loved getting dressed into our Yukatas
A wonderful hot spring experience. The detached Yamabuki private bath was small but very relaxing, washing away the fatigue of Lake Ashi. The tatami bedroom with the river flowing by was comfortable and quiet
The breakfast and dinner was superb and each dish presented was a work of art. All that being said, what made this place really stand out was the service provided by Kimiko
Her attention to detail, explaining customs, preparing the room and serving meals made our experience very special
No Wi-Fi in the room but available in the lounge. Convenient for Hakone station
I'll definitely come back to Hakone next time

It would have been nice if there was a sauna in the public bath.
Literally my first onsen experience in Japan. I feel relaxed sitting in the private onsen connected to our room. My sore muscles got much better after onsen! Amazing! Japanese dinners and breakfasts are very good too!
Lovely experience staying here. Our Wa Fuu room was modern, clean and provisioned with exquisitely comfortable floor-beds, as well a constantly-flowing private onsen with well-kept shower fixtures and tiling
The food is high quality Japanese, the room was spacious, clean and quiet and the staff were very kind and considerate. It really was a good break for a couple of nights
Stayed recently as a family of 4 with 2 young children. The long and short of it is we would definitely stay again next time we're in the area
Sweeping view of the mountains from both the room and bath. Room food service was convenient and the "set" meals were delicious

This ryokan is perfect for people who want to experience ryokan for the first time but want something cheaper within Hakone area. Situated on the main road with buses to Owakudani and train to Odawara
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Shiunso. The meals were incredible and both private onsens, as well as the private bath in our room, were amazing. All staff were kind and helpful
I'd recommend catching the bus from Odawara to this ryokan since the walking trail from the closest station to this place is hilly and has lots of stairs
We had a room with a private onsen which was beautiful and overlooked the river. It was so lovely to hear the water rushing and all the nature sounds
Main road is not very luggage friendly so pack very light when you're staying here. This place has very nice rooms with view to the river behind it
Lovely ryokan with amazing food !! Highly recommend the private baths too for anyone that’s new to onsen experience. 😆

The room is really nice and has the sauna in the room. It is really private but when showering you need to sit on the stool to ensure the opposite no one is looking at you
One that we will remember fondly for sure !! Amazing experience with the hotel dining in a private room, loved the onsen in our room , only wished we could spend more nights here ! Thank you for making our first Ryokan experience a memorable on
The overall service and facilities were excellent, especially the open-air bath in the room, which was fantastic. It was a bit disappointing, however, that we couldn't arrange dinner on Christmas Eve and had to eat out.
interesting balinese onsen ryokan. service was great, i couldn’t take raw food and my husband is allergic to prawns and they took notice for it and didn’t serve them during our half board meals (breakfast and dinner)
the onsen water is certified to be natural and we could read the details of the certification from both the hotel reception and room toilet. the private in room open air onsen’s temperature can be adjusted as well
however the room’s shower’s door was not completely sealed and we found it very chilly to bathe even tho there was hot water supplied as the constant cold air from outside would come in

The most amazing experience of this trip to Japan. I'll just show you the pictures, words can't describe it. Even the skincare products were exceptionally good; I want to buy some, but I don't know the brand
The hot spring soak is heavenly. The food is amazing. You will not go hungry
This is the best Ryokan I have visited in Japan. I’d like to stay again soon.
The highlight of this trip was staying at this hotel. First of all, for hot spring lovers, this hotel has both private baths in the room and private baths that require payment, as well as excellent public hot springs
There is also a small cable car in the hotel, which is very interesting. This hotel is close to Hakone Yumoto Station. If you go there, you can consider it. The hotel can send you to the station, which is very thoughtful
Our room comes with a small bath, and you can take a private bath on the balcony, which is very comfortable. There are free drinks in the room. The hotel's shampoo is very useful. I bought a bottle for my own use

I specifically requested for room with a view (not car park view) for the price I paid but knowing the Japanese inflexibility, it will be impossible to have a room change after they have allocated one , plus they r running full capacity with inadequate manpower
The service staff was trying to separate us from the member guests with different route , access , etc … again for the price I paid , it is totally not worth it , be it the property , the service , or the quality of the breakfast
Breakfast standard is way below par for this level of luxury club standard. I had much better breakfast for room half this price. They should do a lot better in the selection and quality of the breakfast
Bad thing - NO VIEW ! our room with a Huge balcony faced a car park , I guess that’s why they sell this room to Non-Members. Thus the Balcony serve no purpose bcos there’s no view
Parking is easy , including access to basement parking. The public onsen is not bad with 2 outdoor onsen. The in-room private onsen is convenient but there is No View
And we have to queue 30 mins for a table

We stayed here for the second time. A nice old-fashion place. Not fancy but very comfortable, with nice baths.
The room was clean, a standard Japanese-style room, but it didn't have a private bathroom; we had to use the communal onsen for showers
The room is a traditional Japanese Style. The environment was very relaxing and surrounded by nature. The hot spring was amazing with bamboo forest surrounding which gives the most calming vibe.
The location was serene, with a lovely Japanese countryside view, and there were some good restaurants nearby. For the price, it offered great value
The room was quite comfortable, and the hot spring bath was very convenient. However, the transportation is not convenient, making it unsuitable for those with large suitcases.
A beautiful experience, The water is the real healing deal, the tenants are lovely, it is very deserted and truly peaceful. Maybe one day there will be a rotenburo

It was truly blissful to go straight from showering to soaking in the onsen! Breakfast was delivered to a separate dining area right across from our room, with each room having its own dedicated dining space – absolutely no complaints there
The price for three people for two nights and three days was 7500 RMB. The hotel front desk staff and the ladies in charge were all very welcoming. If we had any questions, we could call our dedicated butler
Our butler told me that there were both Western and Chinese breakfast options available every day, which was a nice touch. The highlight for me was enjoying four hot spring baths during our three-day, two-night stay
I booked a room with a private onsen, and the room itself was incredibly spacious. You never have to worry about Japan's high standards for cleanliness; it was so clean and comfortable to stay in
Suimeisou's location is fantastic. For our family of three with a child, it was incredibly convenient to walk to the hotel with our luggage right after arriving at Hakone-Yumoto Station
The breakfasts for both days were different, and each meal included a vegetable salad, grilled fish, eggs, and more. They were small, individual portions, but very filling

It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere
This hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room
It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes)
Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!
A true Japanese experience. The onsen was amazing, we were a family and loved it. We also had a great experience with breakfast and dinner, very Japanese! Totally recommend it
We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute

Two different private onsen areas (reserved with only your shoes) and an amazing outside onsen with its own concealed path. Truly a remarkable building and experience
Awesome place with great service. The open-air onsen is beautiful and worth visiting
If you have the Romancecar pass, it's free. In conclusion, if I ever return to Hakone Yumoto, I will definitely stay here again. This hotel was so good, it made me completely forget about hotels in Tokyo
The room included dinner and breakfast - everything was of high quality and taste, though if you don't like the fried fish in the morning or pickled vegetables you might not like it
For dinner and breakfast, they set up the meal directly on the table in your room, clear everything away once you're done, and even provide dessert. The food is genuinely delicious and varied
They meticulously explain every detail of the room and all the hotel's services, including the onsen hours and locations, breakfast and dinner timings, and even inquire about any allergies

There is a free shuttle bus from Hakone Yumoto station to Hakone Yuyo hot spring resort which is right across the street from the hotel that we were able to use
If you have large luggage the shuttle bus doesn't work because it has no luggage storage. It was a short walk to the train to start our Hakone Loop journey
The hotel was conveniently located by a train station, and despite what other reviews have mentioned, we didn't struggle getting our luggage up and down the hill (but we're both about 30 and in decently good shape
Food was great. Room was spacious and clean.
Our disappointment baesd on the spooky trip to this place was soon replaced with joy once we entered this place. Its a beautiful onsen resort with a wonderful staff. The hospitality and facilities were both top notch
Since it gets dark in Japan as early as 5. 30 pm we were in for an adventure trip to find this destination. Although this place is close to the railway station it was so dark that we struggled finding this location

An old man received me when I checked in that day. Although he had an accent in English, it did not affect communication and understanding at all, and there was no communication difficulty
The dormitory is a mixed room for six people, mainly occupied by European and American backpackers. There is a male and female bathroom on each floor, as well as two shower rooms. The guests are relatively friendly
It's a good place, for the first time I managed to live in a traditional Japanese style, I liked everything, I advise everyone!
I originally thought that the Hakone Onsen Hotel was too expensive and the cost-effectiveness of traveling alone was not high, so I chose a youth hostel. The experience of 3 days and 2 nights was more than I expected
This is a wonderful hostel with an indoor and outdoor Onsen. It has a lovely living area and a well kitted out kitchen with free tea and coffee. The staff are all very welcoming and very helpful
Unlike hot spring hotels, they could not take a bath in the morning, but in the afternoon and evening, and they were divided into indoor and outdoor areas. I experienced it on both nights

I took off one star for cleanliness, but maybe that was because of the overall "shabby" look of the place (it shows signs of time). Anyway, the atmosphere of the place makes up for it
A wonderful hotel! The dinner was incredible: beautiful, delicious, and filling. Bring something to help your stomach digest. Wagyu, crab claws, and lots of tasty little appetizers
I really liked the hotel itself – the atmosphere, the views from the windows, the living room, and the onsen – amazing. The kaiseki is luxurious, with lots of seafood. You can spend half an hour in a private one
Perhaps it's better for the hosts to make the welcome tea, because I asked if the tea was wrapped in paper (that's how we pack our tea), and they said yes, just pour water over it. It turned out we'd brewed matcha candy
Great location, close to the train and funicular stations. There's a very pleasant park nearby, with a teahouse and workshops
An excellent hotel for complete relaxation, the room was huge by Japanese standards in a traditional style, I immersed myself in Japanese culture 😊 And dinner and breakfast were simply amazing, very tasty and very plentiful 😄 In general, if you want to soak in a hot onsen and enjoy the mountains, this hotel is perfect for this!!

Super excellent cuisine, Kawakami chef is young talented but one of best Japanese cuisine chefs in japan. He is like 2,3 star michellan chef, guaranteed!! And inexpensive!! Good room and location. Tranquil stay.
Lovely staff, extremely clean hotel, room was massive!!!! So many amenities in the room!!!!!!! Well recommended
This time we were driving, and the hotel is located on a slope, which didn't really affect us. There's a bit of a walk to find food nearby
The hotel's location is excellent, just about 200 meters from the left exit of Gora Station. However, the hotel signs aren't very clear, and we had to look for a while before we were sure we'd found it
After entering, we had to wait quite a bit before someone came to assist us, which was a bit inconvenient. The room was spacious, but the hot spring bath wasn't very big
For travelers without a car, I'd recommend buying food before checking in, as you can cook your own meals here
