HOSHINOYA Tokyo in Tokyo

My husband and I are experienced world travelers who stay at 5-star hotels. This was our second visit to Tokyo and last time, we stayed in Ginza. The location of Hoshinoya is a bit tricky; none of the taxi drivers knew where it was. The architecture of the building is undoubtedly elegant and impressive with the 17-floor onsen with a view of a night sky with the moon hanging high up there. The staff were very friendly and professional. They deserve five stars.
Here comes the biggest disappointment of the hotel that doesn’t match with its 5-star status; The bathroom faucet had a weird defect that after running warm water for a minute, the water suddenly turned cold and in order to keep it warm, I had to put up with a water stream as thin as an eyeliner pencil with literally no water pressure. I complained a couple of times to the front desk but they had no solution. Reading all the reviews without the water issue, I suspect that it was just our room problem (It really hurt my back as washing my face took good ten minutes). Poor water pressure in a bathroom happens to be one of my pet peeves and this one certainly made the worst experience. If you visit a 5-star hotel, you should not deal with this kind of problem, period. Very unfortunate…

Paid 120,000 yen (~1200USD) for two people for a night on Christmas Eve. The hotel's interior is very interesting but the hotel itself is quite small in size. I wouldn't pay more than 80,000 yen per night. I'd recommend Andaz at Toranomon hills over this place to be honest
