Caprice Playa de Alcudia Apartments in Alcudia

I cannot fault the hotels location; the breakfast selection and food was fantastic with a very good variety and the pool area has a great balance of a natural setting with comfy seating. The spa, whilst small, is perfectly adequate for its purpose. However, what shocked me was the staff attitude to our room not having any working air conditioning for the entirety of the week long stay. From the moment we arrived our air-conditioning did not put out any cold air (just warm air) and so the room never went below 24.5c, even through the night when the outdoor temperature was 19c. This made sleeping comfortably non-existent and even made a few nights difficult to sleep at all! We raised it with the hotel on a daily basis and they did have engineers look at it once during the stay (still wasnt fixed) but its the fact we were constantly told we were either lying or that the working aircon only goes down to 21.5c so 24.5 wasn't too bad. I'd argue that 21.5c is not acceptable as advertised as aircon in the first place but putting that aside, the lack of effort to address a significant issue is astonishing. Especially since we simply couldnt enjoy being in the room at any time during the day which ruined the fact we'd paid for the top tier room. In the end the hotel offered horrendously low compensation for a heavily scarred holiday experience. Considering the glowing reviews on here regarding the service and the fact I'm very lenient when it comes to unavoidable problems i was shocked that it was handled in this way and simply could not recommend this hotel if staying in Alcudia.
