If you are in Hikkaduwa an excr6place on the beach to watch sunset and enjoy a drink and food. The tequila sunrise cocktail was on point. The devilled cuttle fish was excellent. A must visit I did not try the hotel

We just had 4 nights at the refresh hotel and we had a wonderful stay here, the staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, always had a smile to greet you, nothing was any trouble to them, the rooms are exceptionally big, plenty of space, tea, coffee, water refilled everyday, in room safe, nice big bathroom with hot water

Friendly staff fresh sea food and amazing location facing the sea. If you go to Hikkaduwa for a change this restaurant is a must. You will never be disappointed

A true hidden gem – Laya Beach Resort, Wadduwa We arrived at Laya Beach Resort for a coffee and stayed for two weeks — that says it all

Pool service was excellent and very reasonably priced. The pool was immaculate, with attentive staff who welcomed us with a smile every morning and reserved our sunbeds daily without us asking

We cannot recommend Laya Beach Resort highly enough and cannot wait to return

Beach was quiet and good for swimming although it is tricky access to the beach over broken concrete and ropes from the fishing boats as has been mentioned

Large and with a lovely open bathroom. Comfy bed and nice private sitting area outside. Staff were very kind and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Pool was cool and refreshing with nice brand new sun loungers

Absolutely perfect boutique hotel. The cutest hotel on a fabulous beach with a great safe surf break. True it has grotty boats etc but lovely swimming …Our room was great and the stand out really are both the staff

Direct access onto lovely bay for swimming or surfing ( or watching the fishing boats) plus walking distance to beautiful nearby Silent beach or numerous other beautiful beaches or Tangalle by Tuk tuk

Amazing place to stay next to a beautiful enclosed beach. Guide book said one of the nicest places to stay in Sri Lanka and we can confirm. Went with an 8-year old and it was her favourite place from the entire holiday

Lots of places to eat in the area but we ate at Aga as food so good especially the massive prawns!! Highly recommended as great place to end your tour of Sri Lanka or just to come to the beach

What a wonderful stay we had at Sanjis! Perfect beachfront location, attentive staff and a fabulous breakfast. Rooms were nicely sized with a nice shower. Pool was small but quite clean

Everything was fresh and homemade with love and exceptional culinary finesse. The beach is stunning! It is a long, pristine stretch with no rocks and surrounded by lush greens and phenomenal biodiversity

Our stay at Sanji’s place was nothing short of divine. He and his entire team are incredibly adept at creating a haven that is unmatched. My sweetheart and I were treated like true VIP’s every second of our stay

We will return and are sad to leave. We had the top floor apartment. its huge! We were lulled to sleep ever night by the waves. This is right on a little beach, We had it to ourselves

the turtles are great to watch from the windows or balconies. The staff and owner couldn't be nicer. We hired a scooter from them and used their tuc tuc in the evening

There are some shops and restaurants nearby, main street in town just short ride away. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious

Breakfast was great - fresh fruit & omelettes The only thing that slightly took the sheen off our stay was the rush at the end to get us out of the room as other guests were arriving

We hadn’t overstayed & actually left early as they were quite obviously waiting around to clean our room

we had 2 showers! breakfast was very good and we loved eating outdoors with that view! Thankyou! Full marks x

The hotel is located in a lovely spot next to the beach providing a great view to the guests. Perfect location to spend your holiday while sipping beer and enjoying that nice, warm sea breeze

It's a good property with bad management. Right on the beach. We were scared to find all waiters and staff dead drunk in the middle of the night when we returned from beach.

The hotel area is very nice, the breakfasts are ordinary scrambled eggs and not much fruit. Peacocks walk around the hotel area. The hotel staff is very friendly and will help with any question

Nice hotel killer views next to coconut hill with a private beach and the ocean lapping at the patio. Staff were very friendly and cooked us a delicious fish supper on our last night. A good find.

Fantastic restaurant with a stunning view, hammock, swing, very friendly staff and very good food. The best of the best pancakes in the whole Sri Lanka You can enjoy view on Coconut Tree Hill directly from the table

We went to Hikkaduwa and then returned to this hotel with a beautiful view from the balcony! We have not found anything better for this price. The rooms are spacious, large windows, a balcony with a view of the ocean

Amazing place, the best Mirissa spot to see sunsets. A little steps from coconut tree hill, and parrot island. Food so so delicious, plenty choices, freshly made, not expensive

We came to SeaStar several times for lunch as it was next to our hotel. The food was always great, the beers were cold, and the staff were really friendly

It’s right next to Coconut Tree Hill, so you get amazing views of both the hill and the sunset

Pool was also nice, and the beachfront balcony was wonderful for a nightcap listening to the waves. They also organized trips for us! Fantastic stay and highly recommended

Few consideration before you are booking this one. 1) No wifi in rooms, 2) Ant and insects in room, 3) No one to provide basic service like water in room, other amenities etc

Small hotel perfekt situated on the beach. Peace and quite, but close enough to Hikkaduwa action, only a small walk away. Nice rooms, mine had a faboulus seawiev

We booked a room with the balcony and the ocean view - just an amazing and unforgettable experience to stay in such a scenic place. Super friendly staff and always nice background music in the pool bar

Swimming pool is suitable for the kids as well. The beach is long and sandy with no rocks on the sea bottom. Hikka center is just 5 min tuk tuk riding distance or 15-20min by feet

The food was exceptional: beautifully balanced, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with great respect for Sri Lankan cuisine. Every dish felt considered and generous, and the pacing of the meal was perfect

The best thing that must be highlighted is the amazing hospitality and professionalism of the hotel staff; starting from reservations where I had to make multiple changes to my booking; yet they managed to accommodate all my requests

They even take extra miles for our comfort as I needed to buy some stuff from the market and it was raining heavily, they just offered to bring me what I needed without any additional charge and with a big smile

Good: Nice place with very kind people!!! Near to the bus station. Breakfast was very abundant and good. We also had lunch and it has been the best curry I've eaten in the entire Sri Lanka

cheap rooms but they didn't match the description - they tried to put me in a fan room with shared bathroom even though i had payed for air-conditioning and private bathroom.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained. The beach-facing view is beautiful. They also have a kitchen, which is very convenient. Parrot Rock and Turtle Beach are at walking distance

Good location very close to the beach and good host , it does need some maintenance , painting of walls, paiting of building / stairs, cleaning of mattress, a mattress cover! decent bedsheets…

Even though sea bathing was not possible right infront of the rooms, the beach was quite clean and we were able to walk on the beach. All in all, a great experience!

Sewwandi and her team took so much trouble to make our holiday a memorable one, attending to all our needs as best as they possibly can. The food was really good, so totally Sri Lankan and just what we expected

The place is not crowded and so, ideal for spending a quiet time. Eating in the open-air restaurant overlooking the shore, with the food served by ever-smiling Ms. Sewwadi and her staff, calms the mind

The Rooms are clean and View is great. there is sun beds and Hotel have direct access to beach. room cleaning is 3 days by 3days. They have different kind of breakfast. We are satisfied with our stay

Amazing location right on the beach. There are some areas in the sea that are safe for swimming and turtles on the beach right infront of the resort. They serve authentic southern Sri Lankan cuisine

Since Mihiripenna beach has a place like a sea bath that does not rumple much, so you can put your infants into water

Mihiripenna/Talpe beaches re not so crowded like Unawatuna main beach. So you can chilax your vacation here

The room was comfortable, the air conditioning worked great, and the view of the waves was lovely. Most of all, Tirone and Suda were very kind and helpful to me

In fact, all the employees were quite genuinely friendly, which is unexpected in an area with frequent turnover

Home ❤️ Every time I come to Sri Lanka, I make sure to stay couple of nights in Blue Fox. Best location - in the center of Hikka tourist area, very close to the beach, yet far away from the noise of the main street

The son, Sachin, who manages the property, is a lovely gentleman and an absolute professional. This is one of the oldest, and reputed properties in Hikkaduwa. Go ahead and make your booking without hesitation

Lots of good restaurants nearby. Green and well-maintained territory. The staff is simply the BEST! Wish you guys the best of the season and more and more successful years to come!

It's fairly close to main road and the beach (5 minutes away). WiFi reception is not that great but good enough to check your emails if you are close to the router

There is no other hotel of this nature in Hikkaduwa that has such a big land with garden space, beautiful pool area, and large comfortable rooms with pantry facilities etc

Super convenient downtown location, close to everything! It's also not far from the beach, where you can watch the mini train. The room was really clean, and for the price in a city center, it's a great deal

I arrived exhausted at 1 AM after my flight, rushed a taxi to the hotel, and the owner was actually waiting for me! Seeing me, a woman with lots of luggage, he immediately helped me and offered me a cold bottle of water

The room was very clean, and I didn't find any bugs. The air conditioning worked well too. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly kind and spoke English slowly and clearly, which was really helpful

I was so touched! He took me to my room and set up the Wi-Fi for me. It might be a tourist city, so perhaps they encourage bringing your own slippers for environmental reasons

(Definitely take some beautiful photos of this city, and experience the Ghibli movie vibe by riding the mini train!)

This is the perfect place to stay for a trip to Colombo

As per a previous review about charging for sun loungers, this is the only place on the beach that makes such a ludicrous charge of 1000LKR unless you buy food!!! We had a drink and didn't opt for the food as previous reviews kinda put us off

I agreed to pay the charge but did say I wasn't very happy as nobody else on the beach charges people as long as drinks are purchased and I may have to leave a review

So pls make sure to improvise on these and make sure that as the hotel administration,to send cancellation emails if there’s no rooms available ,even if the booking is done via booking

Suffice it to say after a long wait , by partner went to "Have a word" and she managed to get the change back without the sun lounger charge

Also take note of your reviews as criticism from customers should be an indicator of what is actually wrong and needs to be sorted

I guess this hotel is prepared to charge pennies in the short term but lose a lot more by way of reputation and ultimately income
