Mjini Magharibi Region, Zanzibar City, Shangani Street Forodhani Street 🧭 Map
Good breakfast, excellent emplacement and good food
Location is by the sea. Facilities and services are average.
Even the room with no sea view from the balcony (see video) was sold as a sea view room; the check-out time was set before 10 am, which was unheard of; there were a lot of complaints...
Very ok, I will carry your luggage for you throughout the trip
The price/performance ratio is good for an all-inclusive hotel in Zanzibar. The beach outside the hotel is very beautiful. The sunset is super beautiful. I spent three nights happily.
If you like the local style, this hotel is the best among the hotels and is highly recommended. Because it is right by the sea, there will be crows as your companions during the open breakfast. If you are afraid, just sit under the eaves!

The place is clean and great staff however the food at the restaurant is not nice
The hotel is located almost 12 mins from the beach by walking,it has a nice pool surronded by garden. The room is spacious but lacks basic amenities like shower gel or shampoo. The breakfast is horrible, very poor, no varities and not eatable. The owner is a lovely guy though
Well keeped spacious rooms.
Wii-Fi service is unreliable.
Fairly decent hotel rooms were bog with balcony. Aircon and pool onsite. Not far from the beach. Breakfast was ok. Although meals at the hotel seem expensive for the area. $7 for chips yet elsewhere wers charging $3-4 for chips.
Affordable hotel with good breakfast options.Loved the croissants .
Arrived at the hotel to find there was no running water or air conditioning which is understandable given Zanzibars intermittent electricity - particularly given it was new years. Except service was terrible - had to ask several times for water when our room was delayed. Front staff never once smiled or interacted at us, scoffed at our requests for transportation booking. Showers didn’t get hot, poor...

This is Maria, from Spain! I recently stayed at this hotel and it was an absolutely flawless experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with such warmth and kindness by the guys on the reception (Maxymilian and Shafi). The facilities were perfect, and I particularly appreciated there's no television in the room! It made the stay so much more peaceful and allowed for...
Aluna Paje is very good, good food, beautiful location, very kind staff. We will definitely be back!
This little hotel is a gem in Paje. It's super clean, beautifully decorated, has a breakfast area overlooking the pool, fresh juices in the morning, and very friendly staff. 100% recommended. The only downside is that the Sansibar authorities don't do anything to keep the streets clean; there's dirt everywhere, which detracts a bit from the magic of the place.
Our stay at Aluna was very relaxing and beautiful! from the moment we walked into the reception Khalil was attentive to me and my partner and made us feel very welcome. The pool area is really nice also, we didn’t leave the hotel so much because we enjoyed the relaxation so much. The room was very clean and put together also. The only thing I would say is the bed was very loud and a tad uncomfortable...
The atmosphere was amazing. It was a relaxing experience. Good cleanliness overall. Very cozy rooms. Easy to find my way to the hotel. The staff was very respectful and fun. There was no noise. I got my money's worth. The staff were very helpful in whatever I needed. Check in and check out was okay.
Very beautiful. Very friendly staff. Very nice area, almost central in Paje. Close to many restaurants and shops. Great amenities. Clean rooms.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Zanzi Resort, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of.
We stayed in an ocean front villa with a private pool, which offered excellent privacy and seclusion—something we particularly appreciated as a Muslim couple. The setting allowed us to fully relax...
I stayed for three nights as a solo traveler in one of the garden suites. Overall, I think this is an excellent resort that is affordable, clean, with a gorgeous beach very friendly staff I did not do full board but was able to order off the lunch menu for dinner and overall the food was good.
I saw snakes, huge centipedes, lots of different species of fish, hermit crabs bush babies, and other types...
I have been in many resorts around the world, but the best one, so far is Zanzi Resort in Zanzibar. Excellent is the word for everything in this amazing resort: exceptional staff, cleanliness, great location, delicious food, comfortable rooms. We were greeted by the Assistant General Manager, Mr.Elias Soka, a very professional and competent manager. His hospitality management skills and his whole...
The food was incredible and the service was amazing. Everyone took the time to learn our names and even helped us expand our Swahili vocabulary. The chef changed the dinner menu every night, which made every meal feel special. They offer many add ons to enhance your trip as well and many in-house activities organised for you.
Secluded confortable with private pool villas in tropical gardens on the sea . Perfect for a relaxed chill holidays inn Zanzibar !
Everything about this hotel is 5*!! The property is extremely well maintained! The food was absolutely delicious, every single member of staff was so lovely, attentive and welcoming! We sat out on the jetty every day to view sunset - breathtaking views and we also managed to see some dolphins! Thank you for looking after us so well and giving our family some wonderful memories :)

My husband and I have travelled extensively and stayed in lots of different hotels, but The Sands has to be among the loveliest that we have encountered. Situated right on the edge of a long pristine white beach (with its own private beach) on the turquoise waters of the Indian ocean, the setting could not be more idyllic. The accommodation is extremely spacious (the villa that we stayed in was over...
With a transfer of just over an hour from the airport the location was perfect for us. Overlooking the Indian Ocean the sun rise is beautiful. The bungalows are huge, with large seating area, kitchen, walk in wardrobe, bathroom with in and outside showers. We decided to go half board to cut back on cost which did suit us overall. The rooms are spotless cleaned in the morning generally fresh towels...

for the price charged the stay was considered okay as far as F&B was concerned. Food menu was fixed and basic with no nothing remarkable for both breakfast and dinner. rooms were decent and resort was nice otherwise. staff were also polite but language understanding needs more training.
We have just finished our journey at The Sand and we already have nostalgia, an amazing location, few people, super "pampered" by a truly professional staff, a place for those looking for peace and relaxation, with unique cuisine, immersed in palm trees with a very white beach. The rooms are comfortable and are cleaned twice a day! Highly recommended place, we will definitely be back. Don't miss the...

we truly enjoyed our stay here, Shafi and the hotel team were very helpful and privided an excellent service. We would definitely recommend.
Exemplary beauty. Tranquility at best. Lovely beachfront, sugar white sand. Delicious food and pleasant staff. Highly recommend this place.
Hakuna Majiwe is a safe, clean, and well-maintained location, offering a pleasant living environment. It is advisable to prepare a well-structured budget, as there may be unexpected costs, such as the Zanzibar government tourism taxes. While prices are somewhat higher than average, which is typical for similar destinations, the quality of services provided is excellent and meets expectations.
After a week of safari in mainland, we were dleighted to rest in such a great place. The team had been very welcoming and always available. The Chef has developped a tasty menu - always fresh products for good value. Our kids were taught how to play local games while we had a relaxing time enjoying Julia’s massage or discussing with the team. We all enjoyed walking along the peaceful and beautiful...
Our stay at Hakuna Majiwe was amazing. The location is great, close to Paje center, yet far enough to have a quiet time, surounded by beautiful nature. The crown jewel of this hotel are it`s employees. They made sure that we had everything we needed and they made us fall in love with the kindness of swahili people. Hors Piste arranged for our extended family to stay at Jambiani Villas at the end of our safari--what a great plan! Quiet, Clean and Very Spacious.
The property was exactly as described, on the beach, clean, peaceful and with amazing staff. We were greeted by Temayani who looked after us from when we arrived ( early) to getting our room ready as soon as possible and then arranging a generous late check out. Other staff included Shemsha, Grace and Guidion who made the whole vacation beyond amazing. Thank you so much

Good hotel with verry friendly staff! Especially Omar, iddi, Happyniss, Simo! Thank you for everything
It was a nice and quiet hotel, exactly what we needed for our first few days on Zanzibar. Staff were good and food was lovely.
A very good hotel. The food was not extraordinary, but it was good, the rooms were clean, close to the beach, I recommend this hotel, we liked it, it is very quiet, perfect for relaxation. The water in the pool is clean. There are a few locals on the beach, they don't bother.

Traditional hotel right in centre of town. Great location and charming roof top dining area. Comfortable cool and highly recommended.
The shower could use updating and amenities in the bedrooms (bar soap, face tissues)
It was in line with expectations. The hotel is in a good location, but it is not convenient to drive in. You need to walk a stone road to get in. The room space is a bit cramped. Because of the spacing between old buildings, the windows are basically directly next to the building opposite. I booked late and there were no other room types to choose from. I was mentally prepared in advance. There is...
The hotel is in Stone Town, close to the road outside. The breakfast is good. The restaurant is on the rooftop with a nice view of the sea. The room is clean and sanitary. Realy LOVE this hotel. Super location, beautiful old building with great views from the rooftop restaurant. comfy big rooms, nice pool, and superfriendly en helpful staff. Would defenitely come back if I have the chance.

Xanadu, saved our first vacation to Zanzibar. We had booked 11 nights elsewhere on the Island and checked out after 7 (see Mora report). Xanadu was a completely different experience and one which we hope to repeat. The arrival sets the scene, a broken road leads to a hidden gate house, then slightly beyond a mysterious gate opens to a memorable welcome from Leigh (GM) and Jessica (Private Butler)....
We had the most beautiful stay at this stunning, hidden gem in Zanzibar. Each villa has an oversized luxurious bedroom with either an upstairs or downstairs indoor/outdoor living room and plunge pool...
We have just returned from an amazing stay at Xanadu villas where we were lucky enough to stay in the presidential villa. We had an amazing stay this September with friends. The villas were beautiful, spacious, and perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. The views, especially at sunset, were breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect escape. Everything about our stay felt effortless and memorable, we can’t wait to come back!

Our trip was a fantastic journey into wilderness and pure nature. We had spend a wonderful week with great outdoor activities and exploring the whole island. The cabins were very comfortable and the food was also absolutely delicous
We took the tour around Chumbe Island and had a truly lovely time — the scenery and overall experience were well worth it. The island is beautiful, the wildlife is fascinating, and it’s clear the guides care about sharing their enthusiasm with visitors. One small issue: during the guided walk, the guide mentioned that some baobab trees can live 15,000–20,000 years. From what I understand, that’s not...
Tropical paradise with awesome snorkeling, monstrous crabs, and beautiful birds. Staff were warm and lovely. A day trip is possible, but definitely stay overnight, if only for the Coconut Crab walking tour. They’re nocturnal.
Chombe is a little bit of heaven! I don't know where to begin in my praise for the charming staff, delicious food, interesting activities (Thankyou so much J2) and idyllic setting. A really magical experience.
Best authentic experience! Great snorkling. Eco tourism at its finest. 1 night is not enough. So glad we spent 3 nights there.
Amazing place. You are one with nature. Such ecological lodges, minimal guests, it's as if you are alone on the island.
We spotted sting rays, sharks, star fishes and many many more. The variety of corals is great. Perfect for snorkeling or just a swim.
Recommended staying 2 nights. The forest accompanying the island is great as well.

The staff are some of the kindest and friendliest you could meet, always ready to help with a smile.
The pool offers a breathtaking view of the ocean, and there are two beautiful beaches...

Absolutely wonderful place. Looks like a dream and with prices in the lover end.
Hakuna matata is words people live by here and the service does aswell. Super helpful people working here, and they're willing to do anything to help you. But they take their time and they everything happens in a slow tempo which we had to get used to in the beginning.
But now we're all just hakunaing our tatas and it...
Wonderful beachfront stay in Pwani Michangani! We were very well taken care of by Mawa and the rest of the staff! Will return for sure!
Upside: very good value for money, great views from the pool and restaurant, the staff is very friendly and willing to help.
The rooms: size, equipment and cleanliness is just ok.
Downside: the restaurant, which had high prices for the quality of the food, the location is far from the closest village and you need to drive there.
Overall I'd say it's a good place to stay.
