Diamonds Mapenzi Beach, Kiwengwa1 / 30
8.6
Mjini Magharibi Region, Kiwengwa, Mahonda, 100 🧭 Map
We were looking for a getaway and the Diamond Mapenzi Beach Hotel in Zanzibar was exactly what we needed. Comprising of endless days in the sun, friendly staff and the most exquisite resort. The beaches were clean and easily accessible. The resort is spacious and can be as private as you want to be. This is a place that recharges your batteries and wants you to come back for more !!
Spent a lovely 9 days at this hotel. The place was spotless and so well run. The food was delicious and all of the staff exceptional. Id like to make a special mention of Waziri who was so attentive to our needs around the beach area. Would have given 5 stars but our towels were not changed the whole time we were there.
What is Diamonds mapenzi? Is the place where you can recharge after work hard and make your holiday unforgettable. Starting animation team to the all department staff are extremely unforgettable special animation team made our holiday went above and beyond. Everything was great beach room, pools, foood gardens and check in and check out Hopefully back again !
We were welcomed with such generosity from the friendliest staff. A special shout out to Omar who did our introductory walk through and by the time we left, we could sincerely call him a friend. The resort itself is absolutely breathtaking, our room was always made up beautifully and very clean. One of our favorite parts of the day was going to dinner, and walking into Herith - who went out of her...
The most incredible week with special school friends of over 50 years! Couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful resort to have our precious reunion. Staff were all exceptional! Nothing is ever too much for them. Treated like queens all week. The resort runs so smoothly. Could not recommend more highly.
Very nice hotel with good and professional staff since we arrived we received an amazing service from all departments. Special thank to the animation team Herieth, Kombo, Veronica, Alessia, Elisa, James, Miraji, Janette and the recreational manager Jamal. We played beach volley tournaments, we partecipated to the fashion show and we really enjoy during our honeymoon. Restaurant and food in general...

Mjini Magharibi Region, Zanzibar City, 116 Shangani (Stone Town) 🧭 Map
Absolutely amazing stay. Sushant , Excellent Service Gertrude at Reception very kind and Friendly. I will definitely recommend Al Johari *****
Traditional hotel in Stone town and great sea view from rooftop restaurant. Budget friendly and clean. Dedicated staff and helpful
Great location, amazing architectural history A wonderful hotel, fabulous location, bristling with architectural history - a stunning building. On the room - there was no safe; bed too big for the room layout (a big bed is a good thing); the mattress was a bit "tired"; TV channels poor - needs DSTV ..... otherwise fabulous
I paid circa $50 for one night here on a work trip. For that price I think it was a complete bargain. Location is great, no night clubs / chickens crowing next door so quiet. I didn’t have breakfast there so can’t comment on food (so many choices within a 5-10 min walk). This is not a luxury hotel like a Hyatt or Serena. Instead it’s bursting with Stone Town character, amazing location,...
Lovely staff, great location, Puzzle Coffee across the street
This is a unique property in the Stone Town area of the Zanzibar, close vicinity to the Forodha Park , the hotel is quiet and gives you a feel of the ancient times a great break from the new modern hotels

The Madinat Al Bahr hotel is conveniently located at a beach near the airport (3km, 6-10min drive) and also not far from Zanzibar City (7km, around 10-15min drive) with its famous stone town and ferry terminal to Dar Es Salaam etc. The hotel's architecture is impressive. The breakfast buffet is nice, but lunch an dinner buffet happens only on weekends. The restaurant kitchen is strong on local Swaheli...
The beginning was a little bumpy yet after I addressed my concerns, the management in all departments including frontdesk and F&B went out of there way to make this visit for my mother and me even more memorable than expected. I have visit over 200 hotels world-wide in the last three years, and witnessed a combined effort to make things more than right for us. Since I was working as an F&B Manager...
This was a last minute stay since we had a missed flight. Very nice hotel though. Wish we could have enjoyed more. It was a beautiful place.
A very nice hotel complex for short stays. The free shuttle service to the city center and the airport was particularly convenient.
A little far from Kendwa Beach but close to airport. Clean, and extremely comfortable.

Would come back to Africa just for another week at Zanzibari. Kids who walked me through at check-in was perfect. Pleasant guy super helpful, everyone and everything was spot on! Can’t go wrong with this property.
The Ocean view is amazing. You can walk on the Ocean during Low Tide. The private pool is awesome with ocean views. The staff was wondetful and on top of everything to ensure your stay is a great one! Laundry service is quick and done wrll. This is truely a hidden oasis and entry secured by gate and 24 hoIrs security.
Excellent stay We LOVED our stay!! Food was delicious, room and location were relaxing and beautiful, and staff was excellent and very helpful! Perfect place to recharge after a long safari. Not far walking distance to other stuff.
Good location, friendly staff but some improvement Nice hotel close to the beach. The staff was friendly but the waiting time in reception and restaurant could be better. The hotel talks about their sustainability work, but there is more to ask on what they are actually doing. For example, towels were changed everyday even though we didnt use them, and the cleaner turned on the air condition everyday...
Nice hotel but would have expected better service We stayed at the Zanzibari for 8 nights and we were very happy with our suite, very spacious and quite clean but not so happy about the service as it has been quite slow and the food menu has been the same all over our stay. We would have appreciated better choice and variety for breakfast and dinner. We appreciated the late check out free of charge...
We stayed for 4 nights as a family of four in the Bustani Suite and had a wonderful experience. The suite was very spacious with comfortable beds, and it was cleaned daily to a high standard. Very Beautiful place, clean & a lovely atmosphere The breakfast is 10/10 😅🙌 Had a lovely stay Just behind stone town & at the centre of the town great for visit around sorrounding areas They helped us through the visit 👍🙂
Service is very good and people are excellent
The front desk staff was out of this world, he explained to us how to go about town and even gave us advice on how to interact with the locals. The breakfast was exquisite 😋 the rooms are very spacious.
Great place for basic stay. Great place for a few nights. Basic.
At first I was afraid it was a scam, given the other reviews, but in fact it was not and I want to give information to skeptical readers. - Retro is managed by the same owner as Hiliki House, and they share the reception and breakfast room, but Retro's rooms are in the building next door. - The staff is very kind, especially the gentleman who waited for us until 4 am for the check-in, the structure...

Great experience, stayed for 1 week - nothing to complain about. Definitely worth to visit
Overall the hotel was good. The beach and pool was very nice. Food was hit and miss as certain items were repeated. Our Butler Ramson was provided with our Jungle Villa was excellent and his service was impeccable. Th hotel is approximately 1.5 hours from Stone Town. Overall we enjoyed the hotel amenities and food.
We enjoyed the stay and the staff were very friendly. However, due to a flight cancellation we arrived a day after our check-in date. I did send the hotel a message advising them of this and asking if they could do anything about the (all inclusive) cost but received NO response. The day we checked out we were told that we would have to pay for any food and drink consumed after the 11:00 check-out...
Absolutely excellent Fantastic location, great staff, very friendly and efficient. Led by a brilliant General Manager. Good food and very pleasant thematic evenings with shows.
Loved the service and how the staff always paid attention to customers. This resort overfed me lol!! Highly recommended..
Great beach. Clean rooms and common areas. Good food. Friendly staff. Overall we had a wonderful time. Things to improve- 1. Access road to the hotel is really bad. 2. All dishes should be named and allergies taken seriously. 3. A table and chair would be useful in the rooms. 4. Gym is very basic. 5. Activities like exercise sessions in the pool, beach yoga, cooking demos will further enhance the value...

Everything was great except for one person at reception who was not polite and didn’t communicate well. He seemed to have a bad attitude. Apart from that, the hotel is perfect — very clean and with a great location right in front of the sea! It’s a quiet and relaxing place. However, I want to insist that the tall man at reception who wears glasses was not friendly or professional.
Nice hotel with great view and very friendly staff. Especially the staff in the restaurant was always in a good mood with smile, making sure that we have everything we need.
The room is big but needs some maintenance; the shower tube leaks so bad, the hair dryer works when it decides to do so and it s very old, only 1 big & 1 small towel provided for the 3 days stay, the city tax is so expensive ($8/day). The location is amazing, the beach is turquoise...
Loved my stay here , Perfect spot for solo travelers. it’s safe, spacious, and close to most activities. The staff were kind and helpful, and the vibe was calm but fun. Definitely a place I’d stay at again! ✨
Friendliest staff I’ve ever experienced staying in a hotel. A 5- star treatment in a 4-star place. The rooms are basic but clean and all amenities are available. Abeid, restaurant manager, had one mission and that was to make sure we had everything we need and we’re taken care off. Great thanks to him! But his whole staff is friendly to the bone, always saying hi, assisting us, ready to do whatever...

My stay at the Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Resort & Spa was incredible. The location is just perfect with direct beach access, and I really appreciated how safe it felt – there's security around so nobody bothers you, which makes such a difference. R&C’s White Sand Villas in Zanzibar was an exceptional venue for our family’s New Year getaway. The place is very romantic and is very suggested for couples. Fantastic! We had dinner and we ordered pasta with prawns, calamari rings, hamburger and a analcolic cocktail for 70000 tzs (32 usd). The food is not bad for the standard of tanzania but is not impressive. It is just acceptable. The food portion of calamari rings was very very small. The others were ok. Staff: good!
The location of this hotel is great. It is right on the beach front and the hotel offers sun beds for its guests. There are many, many bars and restaurants just a short walk away along the beach. The downside is the rooms themselves. As I read, the water pressure in the shower was terrible - it was barely a trickle and I had to go and use my friends shower as I could not use my own. The bed and towels...
I really enjoyed my stay at Baraka Beach Bungalows, very well located in the middle of Nungwi beach. The room is spacious, clean, and well furnished. The beach restaurant is amazing, especially for seafood lovers, They provide sunbeds with towels on the beach. The staff were wrlcoming and very helpful.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Zanzi Resort, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every way. This was my third visit to Maru Maru, Zanzibar, and I’m absolutely in love with the place. The vibe, the aesthetic ambience, my most favourite rooftop view, delicious Indian food, cozy rooms, and above all, the warmth of the entire Maru Maru team make every stay truly special. Great location in old Stone Town, but... The hotel website touts 2 reliable elevators. One of their elevators has never been put in service. The only operational elevator goes to the rooftop terrace and restaurant. There are NO elevators going to 3 floors of guest rooms. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. If you have a 4th floor room you would need to walk down 3 flight of stairs and walk...
Very centrally located... beautiful venue and facilities. Staff are very polite and try their best..... possibly increase the amount of waitrons during the Happy Hour on the Pool Deck? The pool deck is very welcoming and relaxing especially after a day out. The air conditioned rooms and mosquito nets around the beds adds to a very peaceful night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
Maru Maru Hotel is a good choice in Stone Town - central location and easy to explore everything on foot. The staff were warm and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The only downside was the noise, which made the nights a bit loud and restless.

A gorgeous hotel right in the center of events. We had a huge room with a view of the ocean and the port, with a large balcony. The only thing is that it was named after the famous slave trader, Tippu Tip. I didn't understand why, it was awkward. But the rest of the hotel is wonderful. Very interesting. Very good! Good room, good facilities, good service. Right by the sea, beautiful scenery, convenient.
The hotel is built on an old house. To be fair, it is very unique. Some corners of the hotel are very photogenic during the day, but the shortcomings are also obvious. First of all, the lighting in the house is insufficient, especially at night, the overall feeling is very old under the dim light, and it does not look clean and hygienic enough. However, considering the price, it is still relatively...
Very close to the ferry to Dar es Salaam. The hotel building is very historic. The room is large and the sea view is right outside the window. The breakfast is rich. The restaurant is on the balcony facing the sea.

Everything was great except I did not receive the food and beverage credit that was promised with my ******* reservation.
The room was beautiful and very clean. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was wonderful. And a great location for walking around Stone Town which was very safe. In all an excellent stay.
Good location, convenient to go out, and there are many Chinese restaurants nearby.
This is a lovely hotel in a historic building. It’s walking distance to all the sights of Stonetown. Our room was clean and comfortable. The balcony looked out to the Indian Ocean. Staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly the receptionist who helped us with booking our transfer to the airport at the end of our stay.
Great Stay Wonderful hotel on the beach in Stone Town. Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast buffet. Nice views and pool.
The bed was perfect and our room had a nice view of the pool and ocean. The staff, Rabia, Yunus, and Yussuf Big to name only a few were great. A perfect place to stay for 4 days before our safari.
