We had an incredible experience here. Our friends got married here and it was a great chance to see the service for an event like that. Food was delicious and top quality. Drinks were well made (at the wedding and also poolside bar). The breakfast had many options, definitely 5star worthy.

It was intimidating to see the stairs to the rooms at first but after a few days, you get used to it. Although rooms were higher up on the hill from the beach, the view is spectacular. The rooms were clean and service for housekeeping were quick and efficient.

The beach felt so private and quiet. They maintain it well as it was very clean. Plenty of beach beds and lounge chairs. Would happily come back!

Authentic Thai Luxury Done Right

After a string of disappointments elsewhere, The Surin was a breath of fresh air. It is the exact opposite of the "faded glory" resorts nearby; it feels alive, respected, and impeccably managed.

The Vibe: Authentic, Not "Plastic"
While many modern resorts in Phuket have opted for a "dry, modern plastic" look, The Surin stays true to its roots. It honors the traditional Thai bungalow style, and although it isn't a brand-new build, it is exceptionally well-maintained. You get the charm of classic architecture without the decay.

• The Grounds: Everything from the landscaping to the common areas is top-tier. It actually feels like the luxury experience you’re paying for.

The Food: The Only Minor Letdown
If there is one area for improvement, it’s the kitchen. The food wasn't "bad" by any means, but it felt "white-washed." The local Thai cuisine seemed stripped of its soul; missing that authentic, bold punch of flavor you expect from real Southern Thai cooking. It felt a bit too tailored for a Western palate, which is a shame given how authentic the rest of the resort feels.

Final Verdict
If you want a resort that respects its surroundings and offers a truly high-end, polished experience, stay here. Just maybe head out into town if you're craving a truly spicy, authentic green curry.

We stayed here for five nights and loved it! This is the best hotel in Phuket, possibly in Thailand. We enjoyed every single moment here. The cottages are clean, spacious and luxurious. The beach is quiet, clean and feels private. Breakfast is also really good. The staff is super friendly, helpful and they made us feel at home. We will definitely be back!

The Surin sits on an incredible, pristine beach shared with just one other hotel, easily one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Rooms are spread organically through the hillside, almost like elegant treehouses, with a simple, pleasant design, extremely comfortable beds and lovely views over the bay.

The pool is just steps from the shore, and both the beach bar and the two restaurants offer great food in atmospheres ranging from casual to more refined. Breakfast is generous and delicious. Staff are exceptionally kind and the service is flawless.

The only downside is that some rooms require long walks and many stairs. We were lucky to be moved close to the beach, but the first room offered was far too high and difficult to reach.

Overall, The Surin is hard to beat. Its location and its extraordinary beach make it truly unique.

Room is nice and breakfast is great! The hotel is a bit dark overall though.

The Surin Phuket had been on my bucket list for years. With its stunning location and glowing reviews, I arrived with high expectations — but sadly, what I experienced fell well short of what a true five-star hotel should offer.

From the moment we arrived, there was no bellboy, no concierge, not even a welcome greeting until someone from the front desk eventually came outside. It was a flat, uninspired start to what I had hoped would be a special stay.

That evening, I went to the beach bar and was met with an unwelcoming attitude from a male staff member (overweight, wore glasses) — no smile, no eye contact, not even a basic acknowledgment. It made me feel uncomfortable, and the lack of warmth stayed with me.

Throughout the stay, I passed the checkpoint staff multiple times, and barely received a greeting. While some staff in other parts of the resort were kind and helpful, the service overall was inconsistent and, frankly, disappointing.

The cottage was okay in terms of design, but clearly dated. The bed was one of the worst I’ve ever slept on — extremely soft, sunken, and unsupportive. It was not what you’d expect from a 5-star resort. I left a note requesting a mattress topper, but no one followed up, and housekeeping didn’t even acknowledge the request.

One day, after ordering room service, housekeeping placed the dirty dishes on the balcony during cleaning but didn’t take them away. I called the front desk, who said someone would collect them, but by 5 PM, they were still there. I had to call again. Worse, the placement was unsafe — strong wind and rain could have caused them to fall off and injure someone.

Safety was another concern. The walkways between cottages are high up, but the railings are dangerously low — far below standard height. It felt unsafe just walking around the property.

Breakfast was just okay. The selection was limited and far less than expected. One morning, when only two tables were occupied, four staff members were present — but not a single one greeted us, even though they weren’t busy. It created a cold, impersonal atmosphere.

Having stayed at places like The Park Hyatt Bangkok and Sri Panwa, where hospitality, service, and attention to detail are outstanding, The Surin simply doesn’t compare. Those properties make you feel truly welcome — here, I often felt like an afterthought.

Yes, the location is beautiful, the beach is pristine, and the resort is surrounded by lush greenery. But service — the heart of any luxury experience — was missing. Sadly, there was nothing here that made us feel we'd want to return.

Love every bit of it. Private beach and exclusivity are what we enjoyed, wish we had booked cottage at lower hill though, too many stairs. Wish we have stayed more days. Will definitely come back.

Best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Will be coming back every year. Staff are extremely well trained, nothing is too much trouble. The actual hotel is very well kept, they’re always doing small work on something to keep it looking great. The manager is obviously doing a lot of things right…other five star luxury
